It's odd, in all my years, well since 2001, getting packages from Canada, the US, China, Japan, etc.,

I have hardly ever been made to pay duties when receiving items from Asia, there is the odd chance, but I think Canadian Customs are fickle. Yes..

The majority of the time I get items from the States, Customs is very harsh, I've had bags opened and taped up, no pride at all in repackaging, but everything comes intact in the box..

    but now..
What's stopping a drone on the factory line at Customs from just throwing glass in with iron? Or maybe they thought iron was as fragile as glass.. oooo...

Well, I was informed on the back side of a customs slip is the refund section. I can fill it out, and mail it to the refund center, but it doesn't say much about 'why' or 'proof' so I'll take pictures.

I was hoping Canada Post would be #@#$@ helpful for once in my life. It took 3 days for them to read my claim, and all I get is them saying:

"Any claim for postage refund or indemnity must be submitted by the sender to the service provider in the country of origin." BLA BLA BLA...

WHY? Why can't I just bring in the package and damaged good into Canada Post and have them @$@ work together with United States Postal Service on this?

Anyways.. yesterday I filed a claim with Paypal. It's been a week and no response from the seller at all, from both email accounts. I filed it under "Ebay goods not as described or missing" clause. Considering the auction said I'd get candles and there weren't any, the auction also said perfect, unblemished.. but heck this stuff isn't usable.. even pieces of the glass that broke off aren't even in the box?

Anyways, I selected requesting a partial refund over the whole refund when they asked me that on the electronic form. Because in all chances, I'd have to mail the 'thing' back and that would cost a lot.. the seller needs to make inquiries as to how to get the refund back on his end through US Post. I couldn't do anything else but make paypal try contacting them too.

So in the future, shit, I'm not getting anything breakable again, even though the last time, which was a few days ago, I received something just as breakable and the seller took so much care into packaging it, that evne if it went through customs it had 100% more chance of coming unbroken, but since she wrote down the real value amount I paid down, it never went through customs.

The irony here is, if the seller of the broken goods had told the truth and wrote down the value I paid for it, it never would have gone through customs in the first place.
