Would a "The World" MMORPG be any good?

I've read the books, watched the shows, and played the .hack games. Now I'm wondering if making "The World" as an MMO would be worth it. How many people do you think would play it? Would anybody play it? And could they possibly not screw it up and make it like the version in the games and books?
