I'm sure we've all seen them by now, my friends. The multicoloured harbingers of anime's future. I speak, of course, of the phenomenon known as the "anime shirt".
For those of you who know not of that which I speak, the "anime shirts" are articles of clothing worn about the torso, predominantly by males, usually over another shirt of some kind, and left unbuttoned. The shirts bear the likeness of a anime or anime-style character, usually either holding a sword or in some kind of martial arts gear in a DBZ-ish pose.
That Guy! can testify, as he owns one such shirt. I even saw a newscaster on a local TV station wearing a shirt featuring the visage of Kenshin himself!
My point, good sirs and madams, is that anime is now (finally) reaching a main-stream audience, and that the otaku breed should be expected to increase in numbers, until someday, all people will be fans of some form of anime, be it masterworks like Kenshin, Gundam or Tenchi, or mindless pulp like Pokémon.
"At last we will reveal ourselves to the [anti-animation types]. We shall have our revenge ..."
    -[paraphrased] Darth Maul, StarWars-

GNZ[aside]: Silence, O malicious voices of vengeance!!

    I'll shut up now.

True, I have a shirt with Enishi Yukishiro from Rurouni Kenshin on it. [IMG]

Strangely enough, the shirts are called "Kamehameha's". These shirts are no doubt named after King Kamehameha who is said to have lived from 1758 to May 8, 1819.

It's sorta funny how some people just wear it as a fad and don't even care for anime.
But then I come along and name off the anime that the characters are from such as "Hey, that's Kyoya from Demon City Shijuku", and the people give me a look as if I were a freak or something. [IMG]

Some of the shirts don't make sense. I saw a shirt that was Sanosuke from Kenshin. Although he was holding a very strange sword that looked like something a sorcerer would use.

I looked around the school yesterday, and I saw some shirts in the Kamehameha style without anime characters. Maybe it's just the shirts, not the characters? Let's just be thankful that they aren't all wearing those horrid tropical-print shirts that big fat party animals wear. Those are really Kamehamehas too.
