Anime Akira Movie thingy

Akira is classic, 'nuff said.

 

yes ma'am and neway i rewatched "Akira" and got the story a lot more and i seem to like it now.....even though i dont like it as much as other anime ...........like slayers

Christ, like 2 years worth of anime I didn't see Akira until I had watched probably about 20 other series through, and a good 50 or 60 movies. Not counting the fragments of shows that I never saw all the way through. I just ment that I had watched much more anime in general, and had a lot more to judge by, so I judge it far more harshly than when I had seen nothing. Akira really isn't all that bad, but compared to many, many shows out there, it just doesn't stack up... and when you watch it and realize that the show you thought was incredible 3 years ago is really only run-of-the-mill, you develop a more negative attitude towards it.

I saw the movie. It wasn't my favorite, but it's ok. The onlt thing I didn't really like at all was the art quality. But ehy, you cant blame them for trying they're hardest. Over all, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. It was a bit harder to follow than most anime movies, but hey, just look at the Silent Mobiuse series. I mean, lots of ununderstandable stuff and unanswered questions in that one. But, I guess Akira is one of my more fav anime movies. As I said, 6 out of 10.

 

I don't really see a problem with art quality, considering Akira was one of the most ambitious pieces of animation of its time, and one of the highest quality. Even with contemporary anime considered, watching Akira on DVD blows me away every time when I think that everything is hand-drawn and hand-painted cels.

Maybe it was the medium you saw the movie on . . .? Or maybe Otomo's art style just isn't your thing?

A little hard to follow at times, yes, but in all, Akira rocked

 

Ok, How can you not like akira it was good for its time and had awsome drawings. The bikes were awsome and so were the people. The only really bad thing that I can say about it is that the plot of the whole movie was very dull and some of the skip arounds made it confusing to follow and understand.

 

i don't think the quality is that good either... don't get me wrong, it's amazing for all cell anime, but wings of honneamise is in the same catergory, and it's got much better animation and quality. the scenes in wings would have been HEAPS harder to draw and colour as well, so akira doesn't overly impress me after wings in that respect .
