Ok im tired of the same old post.. they are geting extreemly boring... We need something New and fresh... So Here it is.. Anime The Grand Debate. And you may Ask What Are We Debating.. Welll here it is........................

ummmmmm ..... hmmmmmm .... errrrrr... hmmm... errr....

AHhh Yes Now I have it..

Old Anime VS New Anime... the past feew year we have seen many new anime on the Air.. most of them are extreemly childish with mild to no violence.. where as the Anime of the 80's and early to mid 90's was lots of Violence.. So what is your thought on this...

And Oh yeah.. if this topic sucks.. then How about mordeths coment.. ANIME IS FOR GEEKS AND LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well one could argue that today's anime is produced with a more mainstream appeal to reflect anime's wider audience (esp. in the west). It isn't the niche market it once, not that i've any complaints about that. Bigger market, more anime=Good.

I don't mind seeing the new anime and some of it is pretty good, but nothing beats the oldies. For example, say, Yu-Gi-Oh, is an anime that revolves around a card game played with monsters, but turns out to be much more.

This is slightly reminiscint of...dare I type the evil word...PKMN. So, I was leery at first, but the characters turned out to be extremely funny and beautifully done.

Now take, say, hmmm, Dragonball Z, I don't know anyone who hasn't heard of this. It's funny, has those hentai characters we agreed every anime character should have at least one of and freaky human and alien martial artists trying to save or destroy the world. It has alot of violence, while Yu-Gi-Oh has slim to nil.

Which is the better show? I happen to like 'em both.

A lot of new anime out there today, no one will remember in a few years cause it's not exceptional. I'll bet that was true of a lot af anime from past years: no one remembers them cause they sucked. in other words all the old anime seem better, because we only remember the ones that were good. In another 10 years, people will only remember the good anime from now, and will say the same thing, it's so much better than all the anime now..

no violence = childish? I say it's the other way around. I don't see my parents or grandparents out watching violent stuff. Violence for its own sake (see gratuitous) is not my bag.

I slightly prefer newer anime because the quality of the drawing and animation usualy seems to be better, but it's all good.
    And I don't think I'm a geek/loser, I'm just different from the norm.

well when i choose anime i dont really care it has violence or not i simply choose it for 2 reasons if the stroy line of the anime show is good and if the Drawings are good i could really careless if it has violence or not. And i cant really decide on if i like the newer better or the older better i like em both.

Similar to books, movies and people, New and Old anime are equally important and good but bothsides have hefty rations of crap also.

    Thankyou and goodnight.

Yeah yeah yeah, Wolfwood has a good point, but it's MO that has hit it on the head. I figure that since everyone knows Mighty Atom and nobody remembers Prince Planet then PP must have been even more dodgy. Now I come to think of it, it was kind of stupid that the only function of the people on his home planet was to keep his power levels up and they ALWAYS let him run dry and nearly get killed before they topped him up. Dumbasses.

HEY! I'm not done with other topic yet. I think that old animes are good because they have to have good storylines or else no one will watch them, who will watch a not so nice looking anime that has no storyline! I also do enjoy seeing well drawn anime though so even if there's not a huge storyline then it's ok cause it's still good to look at. So they're both good, NOW for the next topic, "Anime is for geeks nerds and losers" well then you just insulted like everyone at this forum.. so ya beetter watch you back... :D

Anime, old or new, is fine. But Kat's right, I tend to like the older stuff if they have stories that I can definitely remember. Kimagure Orange Road comes to mind. Priss Asagiri's hardsuit is one of the most popular mecha-suits in anime! If it's a good enough story, then artwork comes secondary. For that, Boys Be, is a good example for me. The box artwork is really nice, but then, I watch it and sometimes I'm dissappointed with it. But the stories are really...good. It's just that new anime looks better, usually.

And to the second one...if it's for nerds and geeks. COOL! I'm part of clique. Haha, to be honest, I don't think I'll stop watching cartoons in general until I'm on my deathbed, telling the poor doctor to move because I can't see Ren hit Stimpy with that Muddy Mudd Skipper fellow. :D

BTW, I'm not complaining about the loser part when it comes to me....=P

I'd have to agree with that as well, it doesn't matter how an anime looks or whatever the style may be. If an anime has a good story line and character development then it's good to me. Plus I like older animes because I can call them classics, they are the ones that practically the legends that inspired all of the recent anime.

the way i see it now. Anime is becoming americanized. (then again i dont live in Japan so im not sure what they are geting) anyway i think anime has become so popular that spending money on making a good anime is no more. so they spend the least amount of money posible just to pump out some anime thats not realy that interesting at all.. something like that i think
