Manga and Anime Awards Anime/manga awards?

just a few questions...

How bout an award for most inovative?
Should the person nominating have to state what merits they think the anime has or could some one nominate it just because?
Just a thought or two, although I don't think I should vote seeing as how my sources seem rather limited.

 

Well, I'm guessing they shouldn't. Don't see why.

Anyways, like I meantioned, my idea was garbled in my head, but I'm working on finalizing all the terms for the newest (now what i codenamed) "BJP Manga to Anime Awards" (practically all the rules, with Jaken's permission)

The BJP Manga to Anime Awards

The type for this kinds of awards is preet simple, we vote on different kinds of Anime/Manga divided into

categories.

How the voting takes place
Voting is preety simple. First, we have an "all out" thread. This is where users cast their vote in a

single post[/]. After a month/and a half, all the votes are counted. The 4 highest voted will make

it into the second round. After that, there can be two options:

*If possible, a thread will be made with a poll. The count will stay hidden (as the voters) until the final

day. At the day that the awards are presented, the scores will be shown. This way we can have a good

surprise at the end.

*All finalisits for each of their category will be posted on a thread. The thread closed. The votes will be

submitted to the judge (Jaken), or someone else (in case Jaken decides taking lots of votes can get

difficult for one person). The votes will then be counted, and announced on a single thread. Comments

can be made there, but nothing dumb like "OMG Yes!!"

(As far as the nomination thread goes, no comments on the Anime or Manga like "OMFG It's the greatest".

Also, if someone else chose something you didn't like, don't spam by going like "whatever man that Anime's

nothing compared to the one I voted" or something like that..)

The Categories:
Ah yes, the most important part of these awards, the kinds we give. Although this may get a little

complicated, I'm suggesting on this that we separate the "Awards" Forum into 2 Categories: User Awards,

Anime and Manga Awards. That way we don't get confused. As far as categories go, I decided the following

for each.

Anime Awards:

Anime of the Year: From anywhere, anytime, any place. This Anime shined the most this year!

Best Male Character: Any guy, from any Anime released this year, be it here or Japan.

Best Female Character: There's lots of lovely ladies in Anime, which one is the best this year!?

Best Original Soundtrack for an Anime: We all love anime music (at least I do!), but which one do we

love to hear the most!?

Best Action Anime: Bam Bam! Be it shooting fire from your glove, or using gaint robots, which one

went "boom!" the loudest!?

Best Romance Anime: *cries* Which one is the best love story of them all?

Best Comedy: Most Anime is intended to make us laugh, so, which one did their best this year?

Best Original Story: We have a lot of creative minds here, which one used theirs best?

Best Game based on an Anime: Well someone had to do good, right? Riiiight?

Best scene: A scene that you just can't stop watching over, and over, and over.

Best Fanservice: I've seen a lot of ladies go crazy for Ed Elric, and guys for Faye Valentine. Which

one overall did the best!?

Best Cliffhanger: Did FullMetal end like that? What about InuYasha? Where's Spike!? And the rest?

Some questions left unanswered for either movies, or just not answered at all. Which one made you say

"OMGWTF!?" the loudest?

Best Ending: Lots of Anime this year ended great, which one was the satisfier of all satisfiers!?

I tried picking the best choices of all. I hope 13 choices are enough to satisfy you all!!

Manga Awards:

Manga of the Year: Just like the Anime, which one from any time and where, shined the most?

Best Male Character: So this guy didn't get to Anime, but he still kicked seroius caboose in manga!

Best Female Character: Boy would I have loved to see her move, but seeing her outdo herself on Manga

was just unforgetful!

Best Original Story: C'mon, there's plently of plots done better on Manga, which one was it!?

Best Chapter: Since Manga don't have scenes, they have chapters. What chapter on manga was the

greatest of all chapters? Please post number and name.

Best Action: Only belivers can vote on this. Even though it's not animated right for you, we all got

plenty of imagination on how it works. What manga got the most action?

Best Romance: More on details than Anime (on my opinion), there has to be a Manga that made

you cry!

Best Comedy: Ah yes, the best field in Manga. Which one entertained you the most?

Best Fan Service: Forget what I just said, Manga outdoes itself in Fan Service most of the time. So

C'mon, which one did best? Don't be shy!

Best Ending: They left us satisfied, but didn't stop us from reading them over anyways. Which ending

on Manga was the best this year?

like my ideas for this new kind of awards. Sorry for making this long, and taking so long on it, but now

Wow that is a lot. But this is an anime and manga forum.

 

Holy crap, that's a lot of categories. @_@ I think if there's going to be that many, it had better be all anime, rather than just this year.

I'd want to snip out about half of them.

 

They only seem like a lot, and we'd only do this yearly anyways. As for removal of categories, that's up to Jaken I guess.

Well. I do think that is alot of catagories. I have a feeling the same anime/manga's will be nominated for multiple catagories (It might be more of a popularity thing..you know what I mean?) . And I don't think the activeness won't be very high with that many catagories.

So I suggest maybe no more then like...ten catagories each. Over that can get a little messy.

So if you all want to revise and pic the best/favorite catagories. That would be swell.

Consider it done. Took out a few of the categories, and made it a total of 21 (11 Anime, 10 Manga). Anime has 1 extra for the "Game Based on Anime", and that one shouldn't be that hard.

I like the idea on the "Game Based on Anime" award. Although since not too many games came out this year were based on anime, like you said, it won't be too hard to choose.

 

Ok, so my only question is where/how/when will the voting occur?

 

... No witty comment on this one. XD Guess you're right on that. I just don't see tons and tons of games based off anime anymore. Poor me.

 

And all the best anime is based on (H) games. *cough*Air*cough*Kanon*cough*etc*cough

3, maybe 4 would be enough, in my opinion. Even limiting it to one or two categories is good. 12 is just inane. (Yes, that's spelled right)

Like, "Most Popular Anime on BJP" would cover a lot of bases.

With twenty one Anime and Manga catagories we're going to give the Oscars and the Academy Awards a run for thier money. Something this large deserves to have its own banner and logo, so why don't we have a 1st annual BJP Manga to Anime Awards logo development contest while we're at it. That way everyone can PREVOTE on thier favorite artist's banner/logo before they even BEGIN to vote on that actual Banner finalists EVEN BEFORE we vote on the Awards nominees for TWENTY ONE DIFFERENT CATAGORIES and, eventually, the awards finalists. If we're going to go vote on half a million things, lets go ALL THE WAY!!!

I'm afraid Jaken is going to lose his mind trying to sort through the all the nominees alone for the twenty one different catagories, and then deal with all the voting that will go on for the finalists. Do we really need best Game based on Anime, or Best Fanservice?

We dilute the quality and meaning of the whole thing by flooding the polls with almost two dozen different catagories. Keeping it small and simple will help folks focus on the bigger, overall things- Best Anime, Best Male/Female Character. I do listen to a good deal of Anime OSTs, but how many others do as well? How many people will simply plug thier favorite anime into that slot just to give it a place in the final results?

Choices are good, but too many are a bit overwhelming, y'know?

My 2 cents for categories.

-Best series/miniseries
-Best movie
-Best soundtrack
-Best character

AND THATS IT.

Although honestly I don't see the purpose in this; the creators of the anime aren't exactly gonna say "OH WOW BOARDS.JP LIKES ME THEY REALLY LIKE ME!", and it's basically going to just be a popularity contest for whichever anime appeals to the lowest common denominator (unless we make an "academy" of voters). We've had threads like these even recently ("best manga?" etc).

I dunno, I guess I'm more in favour of awards being handed out that'll actually serve a purpose (in that whoever gets them will feel good for a brief moment).

But then, that's me.
