    lol.
rush is actually the 1st real progressive-metal. not really prog-rock. if you want early prog-rock, look into Yes, King Crimson etc.

"attack"- the volume of a note/ it's duration. songs with lots of attack tend to be louder, with short staccato notes.

"pseudo-classical".- assumming the classical style outside of it's own period.. ie a 'fake' classical.

"prog-rock".- a musical style arguably started by the moody blues. and really defined by yes, king crimson in the very early 70's. etc. it is largely classical and jazz influenced and revolves around skilled (usually) muso's pushing the boundaries of rock.
often incorporatin epics, odd time, unusual voicings, concept albums, etc. A typical group consists of vocals, drums, guitars, bass, keys/melatron.

"odd-time signatures".- really anything outside common time. 4/4. 7/8 (7 beats per bar) is a long time fav of progressive music, but 3/4, 6/8, 9/8 are also often used. occasionally very unusual times are used. dream theater use a 11/16 bar in one of their songs.
songs often change the time sig throughout.
there's also the use of implied time, where musicians will play one meter over another. ie play 3/4 over 4/4, and every 12 bars will 'catch up'.

a good epic is extreemly difficult to write. because you have to link each passage to make the song flow. there's also re-occuring motifs and themes too. normal genres long songs don't move very far from the original idea, where as progressive rock does. that's the essence of prog-rock. the songs PROGRESS.
    a few notables...
the flowerkings garden of dreams- 60 min
the flowerkings the truth will set you free 30 min.
dream theater change of seasons- 25
transatlantic all of the above 30 min
flowerkings stardust we are- 25 min
yes- close to the edge- 18 min.
there's heaps of them. all of them good. prog-rock or prog-anything is really musicians music. you have to play it to really apprieciate all that they're doing.
