Problem with Canadian Radio - they require a certain percentage of on-air content to be from Canadian artists. Used to be the same way with Alanis Morissette - one of her songs every 2 hours...very repetitive. And they rarely substitute the label bands with something "developing" on radio.

Then again, I never really listen to radio, either.

Eat me alive, but I have my personal eclectic tastes. I like a few Avril songs, a few Spice Girls, and a few Britney...

I rather dislike her. She's tries so hard to be different that she's just confused now. It's kinda sad, really. But it's also really funny.:p
She seems to think that she's the epitome of cool,or something. When she's really far from it.You can call me a bastard, but It'll be TOTALLY funny in a couple years. When she's a washed up has-been.She has 5 dollars in her pocket and 6 kids. She's all fat and ugly. And she'll be on those "Where Are They Now?" shows.People will be like,"Remember Avril Lavigne?".And I'll go,"Who?"It's like a little reward to all of the people that have to sit around and watch these dumbasses get the Royal Treatment. And her music stinks, too.

    Umm.......what?

Can't you see the dancing bannana?
It says "I'd hit it"(come on think real hard) which was in response to Mordeth's "plus she looks good" comment

I remember hearing this somewhere also, actually it was a guy from CKSY.. he ticked me off. He said that my band would never be played on the station because bands like Avril Lavigne come before because they are popular... I think that there are many other smaller garage bands out there that are better than the op music bands being played on radio. They just have to have luck and someone in the music industry there to hear them at the right time... >_< But no matter how good a band is there will always be someone out there who hates them.

It bothers me how Avril sings about how people should just be themselves, and her letting herself be controlled by the label is hypocrisy... But, one thing that's good is that she doesn't dress as scandalously as some artists.. like BS

Yeah but she might if the label asked her too. And she'll probably end up doing the obligitory FHM or Maxim photo shoot eventually.

I'll put aside my 6 quid for that issue heheh.

Yeah, but here's the deal. Most of the small-time bands these days just cover the big name acts and rip off the last Gob or Metallica song they heard on the radio and try to make it sound original. Besides, who would want to be played on CKSY anyway? You're coming from the land of wannabe punks and country freaks over there. And if you asked me, flashing your butt-cleavage at every MMVA show you attend is pretty damn scandalous.

i don't really like Avril's music since i kinda thinks shes a poser*sorry to all who like her*...i am sorry but she acts all punked out but she isn't. She says shes original but shes not. ANd i heard she is a very rude person in real life and she is saying that all the posers in the world suck. A person in her place in society shouldn't say that. There are a bunch of fans dressing liek her beacause they really like her. I think its kinda mean to say that when you know your own fans are doing it....

She may have nice voice, but it's not an incredible voice. I don't like her myself, either as an icon or a singer.
I find her songs repetitive and simple, and the ideas old.
I know this is out of her control, but also her songs are so overplayed that by the time the next of her songs is out, everybody is already sick to death of the last one.
I find her to be a poser as well, and I think she will indeed be ousted soon by the fickle pop. culture crowd.
I just hope it's sooner than soon.

Ach! She dresses punk but sings and acts pop. And her rendition of Knocking on Heaven's Door would make Bob Dylan roll over in his grave, if he was dead, anyway. As it is, the song just sucks.

That's the idea. You make your music as generic as possible so teens all think it's personal to them and buy the album.

Hey, don't put words in my mouth. That's not my point.
Look at most of her fans. Something around 90% would have to be between the ages of 12 and 17. Look at the crowd at one of her shows. Pretty much everyone is a screaming kid of some kind.
A while ago, Lavigne did a show in a nearby city, and the local radio station was giving away tickets. Pretty much everyone who called in to win the tickets wanted to win them for their kids.

Scary. Reminds me of a story I read a magazine that reviewed the Justin Timberlake/Christina Aguilera concert, and stated that it was disturbing to see young people with signs saying "YOU CAN JUSTIFY AND STRIP ME!" At least Avril Lavigne concerts haven't hit that particular level of disturbing, as far as I know.

I don't hate Avril, but I don't care for her, either. I think she's definitely trying to be what she's not. Does anyone watch VH1 Pop Up Video? On the pop ups for the video "Complicated", it mentioned that Avril Lavigne cannot actually skateboard although she's supposedly a "skate punk" in image. During the shoot she apparently attempted skateboarding moves and failed miserably. :p

I saw footage of a concert where there was a teenage boy with a sign reading "Avril, have my baby". Kind of a switch of what I've seen from other pop acts.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that remembers the David Bowie incident? Yeah. Okay, Avril. Nervous/excited my ***. You know it's a bad sign when they can't even pronounce the name of someone like David Bowie.
