I chose Other, meaning Tsukasa from .Hack//Sign! C'mon, who wouldn't like a cold-hearted, mean, uncaring character in a game who can't get out, WHO?

I'd have to go with Spike off Cowboy Bebop as well.

I've never seen MKR and I don't watch Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh and Inu-Yasha is good but not the best so I have to say other.

I think the best lead is Spike, but I would like to give honourable mention to Shinji from NGE.

    Hm...
its a tough choice, but the best leaders I can think up, and as a tie are.

    Yuna (FFX|FFX-2)
She's very pro-active, she does what she believes and because she remains faithful to her friends, they are all willing to fight for her to the death.

    AND

    Kite (dotHack Games)
His friend is taken by the game, and he keeps going back in to save him, finding powerful allies and bringing them to his side as he goes. The guy is a great leader.

(I know I kinda went slightly off, using VG chars, but alotta people put the FFX story up there with anime, and dotHack games are a send off from the series. :anime: )

Best lead Character? Miaka form Fushigi Yuugi. Most people find her annoying, and yes she can be so, but I respect her, a lot of stuff happens to her in the book and she lives through it. Nakago could never manage to manipulate her (he couldn't so he raped her :( ) and she's got a big heart.

Just to be obscure, different, and to stand out... I'll say Brandon Heat AKA Beyond The Grave from Gungrave.

Ok, if it's the best LEADER, I'd have to say Jet, from Cowboy Bebop. He is always there when his "team" needs him, and he keeps a level head in emergencies. If it's the best LEAD CHARACTER, I'd say it would be and even up between Vash from Trigun and Spike from CB. They're both awesome fighters, but so chock-full of history you don't even know it all if you've watched the anime(s) a hundred times. However, NEITHER of these two posess good leadership qualities. Spike lets his personal grudges come first, and Vash is too caught in his idea that all men should have free will to try to assume command in non-crisis situations.
