I must say both. o_O Mostly because of this reasoning: If it was the egg, there was a chicken in it regardless. Or, if it was the chicken, there would be an egg inside of it right? O.O

Although it's an interesting concept, I must say No. In both of your scenarios, there is one major problem: both egg and chicken have not necessarily reached maturity, that is, the ability to have an egg, and the egg, to hatch, would need a warm place, an incubator.

Hmm, I don't think I was very clear on that point, but maybe somebody can pick up where I left off.

"People waste their time pondering if the glass is half empty or half full. . .me i just drink what ever is in the glass. . ."

I dont know what show that came from. . . >.< It kinda reflects on this subject too. . . Why question how the chicken got here? Just except that there is a chicken. . . .

To get an egg, we need 2 chickens, male and female. To get 2 chickens, we need 2 eggs. To get 2...

if you look at it from a scientific point the chicken came first from evolution, in religion the chicken came first when God created the animals and when you look at it from a sentence"which came first the chicken or the egg" chicken is mentioned first so the chicken came first not the egg. :catgirl:

I think that a one celled organism evolvled slowly into the chicken we see today. In my opinion it doesnt really matter which came first.

Don't know where this went from chickens and eggs to the basis of science itself, but I'd like to get this in edgewise (sorry if someone mentioned this before, but this is what makes sense to me) :

If the alterations which create a new species occur in the zygote, that particular species of chicken would come before its respective egg. For example, let's say that a change in the embryo allowed this chicken to lay eggs made of aluminum gift wrap. The chicken would be born, followed by whatever eggs it laid. However, it would be born in a regular chicken egg, as its parent did not possess this species-defining trait, which developed in the zygote.

    Or something like that.

The scientific mind never simply accepts that something is there. Besides, there would be no point to this thread if we simply accepted that there is a chicken and left it at that.

I do agree with that statement about the scientific mind.

Exactly. . . .there is no point to this thread. There is no point in questioning the subject. It will be a never ending cycle of thoughts, on which came first(kind of a waste of time). There is almost no way to prove either theory. There was simply no point in making the thread to begin with, anyone could figure that this thread could go on and on forever, never leading to any proof or true answer, just a series of opinions.

Mord is right.... Except it does provoke some thought.

Even though it's pointless, I think the chicken came first anyway.

Wow, We should just lay down and let god answer all of our questions. "what determines tempeture? Umm...God. What makes the world revolve? Thats simple...God! How do we get wind? GOD!" I should just lay back and watch...soccer all day.

All debates are dumb...The good thing about it is that it makes you think. I never thought about the chicken or egg until i read this thread...

I think god fliped a coin and what ever the outcome was he put that down.

And then left us to debate which one came first. Is God mocking us?

it was something that Deevolved ( if thats even a word) into a chicken.
so i believe the chicken came frist and laid all these other eggs and so on and so on and so on.
