    who plays DDR?

okay, this HAS to have been a thread in the past, but oh well.

who here is a DDR freak? I love the game, but i never have time to play during the school year, and I've only been playing for about a year and a half (including school year) so I can only do a few maniac songs.

I think Dive, Paranoia and Afronova have to be my favorite songs. But you can't forget classics like Dynamite Rave and End of the Century!

ah, the joy of being exhausted and collapsed on the dancepad:D

as one ddr freestyler in some random ddr forum once said-"can't stop playing till you're knee-deep in sweat and your shoes are filled with blood"

Which mix of DDR are you talking about? ::curious:: I've played 7th mix in the Nickelcade and 3rd mix, Disney Mix, and Konamix on my roommates' PS/X (haven't played it with the PS2 yet). I like to think I'm fairly good at it, but I like Pump It UP better (that would be the Korean version of the dance game). It's got 5 dance keys instead of 4, and actually has some American songs on it. I can beat quite a few of the hard-level songs (that would be the same as Trick mode in DDR), but the Crazy (Maniac) ones are just that: crazy. And battle mode is fun too. ^_^

hmm...just DDR in general i guess...though I like 3rd and 5th mix the most. And Ive played Pump it up a few times, but my feet always get confused cause im so used to the arrows being somewhere else...but DDR has American songs too, like Kung Fu fighting, Raining men, and That's the way...though they're all old and yucky!:)

    i wish I had DDR max for PS2 though...but I'm gonna buy .hack instead i think. mmm...tsukasa... :D

DDR is wonderfull. I've been playing since ohhhh bout Mid November of 01 and i still play occasionally ^_^= My fave songs are .59, Orion 78, Orion 78 Civilization Mix, Burning Heat [3 Option Mix], and so many more. Maxx 300 and Maxx Unlimited are just evil, though.

Yeah, I made a DDR topic in the past . . . (not toooo long ago, though).

I have Konamix for the PS1 and DDR MAX for the PS2. They're both so great to play, though I'm so pissed that Freckles isn't on the American PS2 DDR MAX. My local gameworks has a 5th mix, and one of my the malls around here has a MAX2 machine.

It's been a while since I've played some DDR. I just haven't had the time lately to head downstairs and dance for a good half hour to and hour.

Would the original Dance Dance Revolution for the PS (American Release) be worth the purchase? At my local Electornics Boutique, a used copy is like 35 bucks!

Ah...Konamix is grand, and MAXX is great, too...speshially for Rhythm & Police...

The local mall has a 5th and an Extreme, so eat that :p

It depends on what songs you like...for the most part Konamix has better songs than USA Mix, except for Boom Boom Dollar -swoon- lol I luff that song...anyway, USA mix has a few goodies on there, like the original Afronova, Paranoia, BB$, aw hell, go to www.ddrfreak.com , its the god of DDR Pages.

I love DDR!!! And I can play very few songs on Maniac, but I'm working on it :D I've got some friends that play DDR, and there's this group of 'em that plays really well, and they come up with freestyle moves too, it's great...

My favorite songs... it's hard to pinpoint, really. I wish the American versions would put the good songs up, but they don't... I like "Freckles", "Dam Dariram", "Butterfly (Upswing Mix)", "Bumble Bee".... there's way more songs than this, I just can't name them all.

    I also have DWIMAX on my computer, so I play that too... for practice and all ^^;;

I feel the same way. Pump It Up just has so much more of an edgier feel to it. Plus I prefer Korean dance music over Japanese and American music.

But don't get me wrong... DDR was the first dancing game I ever played. I played it a few times in the arcade in Washington, then the summer after that I played the home version for a month. Finally Pump It Up appeared at the only public arcade on Kauai. I had only seen a tiny picture of it the year before, and just hearing that Koreans had made their own dancing game got me going "brah, I KNOW I'd like it more cuz I love Korean dance music." I just stood there staring at the machine in awe for a few seconds, called up my brother to tell him to hurry over, and played for two hours straight on the spot.

And so I played Pump It Up for a solid year, getting pissed at DDR-extremists who say "Pump It Up sucks!" I'd ask them why, and they just ignore me! I would have said the same thing about DDR, although I would have given tons of reasons to back myself up. But by now I started getting into DDR again because of the Max series. Imagine, in my head it took DDR Max to be up-and-up to Pump It Up: The Premiere. I personally think Pump It Up: The Prex is a lil better than DDR Max. And Pump It Up: Premiere 2 is roughly up and up with DDR Max 2. I haven't tried DDR Extreme yet, nor has the newest Pump It Up been released here yet.

Has anyone heard or tried 3DDX? It was the main dance craze in Korean after Pump It Up. I really really want to try it cuz it uses four arrows for your feet as well as four for your hands (sides, front and back), so it feels even more like dancing than both DDR and Pump It Up. Also, the music selection feels like a cross between both systems, having both Euro-pop style songs as well as Korean dance songs. I have mp3's of several 3DDX songs, and I would love to dance to them!

I have an affinity towards DDR moreso than Pump it Up, mostly because DDR was my first dance game and as of now it's easier for me to play anyway. But I have played Pump it Up many times before and I do like it . . . DDR extremists who claim that PiU "sucks" are narrow-minded idiots.

One thing that first struck me about PiU was the high-res animation in the opening. It just looked sweet, and I said to myself "I have to try this game out."

Given that I have the coordination of ... well, an uncoordinated person (I ran out of similes), it's probably best that I just watch this game. They have one at every Famous Players theatre, it seems, and I'm always tempted to give it a go, but fear of looking like more of an *** than usual is always there.
    The music's kicking, though.
