Okay, I was just curious about people's opinions. So . . . what do you think is after death? Is there a heaven? reincarnation? a great nothingness? When we die, will we just *poof* be gone? Or will there be a consequence for how we treat this life?

Well I've always been partial to the reincarnation belief, but I just rather like the theory of it, I haven't actually looked into it enough to know if there's enough substantial evidence for it to even be considered.

To be honest, I've debated inwardly with myself numerous times regarding our situations after death, and quite frankly I'm sick of thinking about it. Maybe we evolved from apes (which at the moment is the belief I support most) and will end up rotting underground for eternity, or maybe there *is* a heaven/hell, or maybe there's even a giant army of robots waiting to take command of our souls after our deaths. There are thousands of different theories, some which are obviously a load of bull and some which seem almost rational, but I honestly believe that we should just cherish the lives we have now and not spend so much of our time worrying about what comes after it. Whatever happens happens, and (since we can't predict the future) we'll just have to accept the outcome of our deaths, whatever it may be.

But that's just my personal philosophy ;)

Before I begin, like I always say, I know that there aren't many people here who share the same religion as I do, which is islam. So my point of view here will be according to my religion, which obviously not many will believe in this :)

After death, people awaits judgment day, which we will be standing infront of God and we will be judged (obviously!). Believe it or not, your body parts will talk and say what good things you did and what bad things you did depending on which part. Like the eye for example, it will say what good things you saw and what bad things you saw.

After that, you will go to either heaven or hell. There are 7 parts of heaven (or more, I can't recall, but its more than 1) and people will enter it depending on their goodness' level. Like, see it this way, a student got 85 and another got 95, you can't give them both an A or B, right? There are different levels for Heaven for different levels of goodness people did.

In the end in Heaven, EVERYONE will be at the age of 33, wearing white silky dresses and will have golden houses and what not and living there for eternity. As for the people at Hell, their body will melt from the heat and when it does it will grow back again just to be melted over and over again, so they will receive that pain over and over again to a never-ending (*shivers*). I think Hell has levels as well or different punishments depending as well to the level of badness.

    Actually, its more as a longer story than that, but I don't think going into details at this point is a good idea, especially since I don't know much about my own religion ^^;
And sorry for making it rather long :)

I dont want to think that we will be judged in our after life. To be placed in rank of goodness, it sounds terrible "Well your not as good as him so you don’t get as good of a heaven"

But i do think of their being a heaven after we die. And maybe a Hell. I dont believe in reincarnation, it doesn’t make sense to me, that our own personalities, our life, our soul is being recycled, or so to speech. As for us just not existing all together, i could take that into contemplation, but that’s not something that i would want.

Sometimes i wonder if there even really is a Hell, what if God is the Devil and is the God that we think of, both (God is what ever we perceive him as, Buda, Sun God, Earth god etc. Just the different perspectives of god from different people. At least that’s what I think). I mean what ever happened to "God loves us all" Does that just go in the bin once we die? Will we see him judging us, as if we were on trial? To say that he loves us all then sends some to Hell, seems Hypocritical.

But to think that life is only the beginning and Death is a whole other journey to come, intrigues me. Only the Dead know what lies beyond. Through out eternity man will wonder what happens after we pass away. We can only speculate and make theories and hypotheses.

    hwooo. . .got that out. . .kinda lengthy. . .i think thats all that i think on the matter. ^^;;

It's hard to say what you beleive in these days, people are so open that they all share their idea's and try to force them on you. I want to believe that there is a heaven, but with other people throwing their own belief's at me, then being on my own to think about all these different thing's leaves's me a little confused and fearful of death. I know it's kind of silly to fear something as inevitable as death but the thought of me just dying and then just lieing in the ground until the end of time is not something i want to do, even if it is, as i said, inevitable. I'd rather like to eother know or believe that there is an after-life cause that would give me some comfort so that i don't have to fear death (and i could do some risky things like sky-diving :D).
I guess my opinion is a little messed up but hopefully i can change it and give a fuller description of how i feel.

If we truely die, perhaps we'd be nothing more, change to something like a tree to recycle the world- if no atoms can disappear, perhaps the universe would shift them somewhere useful-or be a bubbling spot of hot chicken fat on a greasy floor somewhere once our purpose is done.

With death, someone can just leave, like a candle being blown out. There's nothing left to animate them, no lingering flame. Perhaps minds snap to a Heaven; a place where one would most be happy in, where they would most be suited, a world where they belong. There's much power to the human brain if one tries to concentrate parts of it, or alert it to particular moments of danger.

True, I believe in apparitions and callings-sometimes they stay around, but maybe they're faint echos of deep times or some spirits visiting from other place, and maybe we can only see a little; like we live in a two-dimensional world and they exist in one of three, and see more of the world than we can. Maybe the next world is a new one, not on a different cloud or planet but in a completely different universe. That can draw several thoughts, or; be similar to The Matrix; in that we are connected elsewhere but exist here.

I'm a pretty firm believer in reincarnation. I believe we are reborn to learn lessons to help ourselves gain higher levels of conciousness, to at last become one with God and the universe.

We'll find out when we die, so I see no point in rushing to find out who's right. You never know, maybe everybody gets the afterlife they believe in.

I belief that we go to "heaven" in essence, review what we did, perform penance if necessary, and then are free to do what we want in heaven. If we feel like advancing spiritually, we incarnate again on Earth.

I believe that we are like a robot and in the end we just stop functioning. Our body turns into nutrients for the soil or whatever it is happens after our bodies are left lying in the ground after a few weeks. Simple as that....

i believe there is a heaven and hell, but i also believe that by some reason a soul cannot go to heaven, because they were not able to pass through or something, so they are doomed to wander the earth forever. so in all i believe in an afterlife.

I have been thinking that there is either a Heaven and Hell, or we reincarnate. I have not exactly chosen in what to believe, but I don't think we just stay in the ground and become soil or something... At some age I thought that if I hadn't have been born in MY family, a child with my mind would have been born in some other family, and somehow I started to believe in reincarnation. Then there was the fact that I had been always taught to believe in Heaven and Hell. In some times I even questioned Gods existance. Now I don't know what to believe.

I'm a Christian, so I believe when I die I will go to heaven and live with God.
    I don't believe in reincarnation.
In heaven people are all treated the same, that is what I was taught.
If you dont' believe in the triune God you will go to hell for all eternity.
And the faithful will sit at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

One of my Non-Christian friends once asked me how do I believe in all this stuff and if I am sure I will go to heaven when I die. What if I believed in the wrong religion and go to hell when I died.
Well, I couldn't figure that one out so I asked my religion teacher at school.
She said that the answer to that is faith. That we must have faith in God.

I, personally, don't believe in Heaven nor Hell. I fully believe in reincarnation. I think that when a person dies, the soul of the person lingers and will find an unborn person and will then take over them when they are born. As the child grows, their soul that was once someone elses, takes after previous people and like, mixes previous lives....it's hard to explain I guess. But I don't think a person dies fully, for apart of them is in another person from their recycled soul.

Sure there is a God and what not, but I don't think that there is a serene place where there is always peace...peace is non-existant when it comes to my opinion.

I also believe that some souls never really 'find' anyone. That some people hold on to them and there creating ghosts or spirits...in my opinion.

Errr.. I got a dorky reason. Well, iono you'll finally prolly be free to go anywhere. Space? Probaly. Since I was a child, I thought everyone lived on stars ( with their loved ones. Finally happy. The blue blue stars ) You see.. I used to think ( and still do ) that the reason there were so many stars was because once everyone died, they would all go their different ways to a certain star. You get?

    Heaven! :)

WEll, not _THE_ always imagined heaven with clouds, guys with wings, aureolas and nice harps.

No, nonono. The heaven I believe in, is like a sea of love, which is God. Living to love, in love...

well yeah that sounds pretty ethereal. But here's some link so you can understand better:
    Treatise on Purgatory

It says "treatise on purgatory" but it speaks of hell, heaven and God's love as well.

    OK, that's my 2 cents ^_^
