I think the show is a bit too violent, but things like Gluttony eating people and Lust killing people.. of course it can be editted out, people dying, a little girl turning into a chimera mutation with her dog then exploding onto the brick wall, people in pain turning into stone, I mean these can be editted, but I believe they are very important moments for the series and help further develop Al and Ed's character and initiative to seek the Philosopher's stone.

What do you think? Younger I mean, under 10 or 12 I guess.
It's unfortunate though how far youth have been dissensitized to these sort of things..

Is this in direct correlation with the American license on FMA by Funimation? Atleast it's not 4Kids... oh god. o__o

Anyway, I personally believe cutting ANYTHING out of an anime is a crime. It was meant to be there, leave it. If it's too violent for kids, don't show it for kids. Go find some "cartoons". It really makes me mad that they dumb down these amazing series for a dumbass group of children who won't appreciate it in all it's glory.

I guess that's a bit off-topic. Now, whether or not FMA is too violent for kids? For the average kid, I should say so, but they start showing corpses and death/holocaust movies to kids in elementary.

I think they could handle it.

Though they shouldn't have to watch that. There's plenty of stuff out there they should watch, namely things actually targeted towards them.

Eww! Gross! Eating people? A little girl turning into a chimera mutation? Death?
I've never watched that show before but i think it should.
Is death very common on that show?
Because if it is little kids shouldn't because that could influence them and they would start doing things like that.

It's too violent... A little girl turning into a chimera mutation was too terrfiying, and killing it was worse! Kid's would have nightmares. =_= not to mention that episode freaks me out. That Tucker character give me the creeps. :(
This show should be kept for audiences older that 15.

In fact it is. That whole Tucker episode creeped me out. Especially after the poor little girl went and got killed. Then the blood splattered on the wall.
And then all the murderer and eating. A little violent for the young ones.

I never really thought about how violent and graphic the show was. But it is very graphic especially the first episode, wow that showed a lot especially if you had no idea of what to expect. However, I do agree that I'm happy that these parts are not edited out. Nevertheless, whenever I look after my 5 year old brother he always watches the show. He has been watching it since it first aired on adultswim and he acts just like the innocent child that he is. I mean he still is a crazy kid, but the show has not affected him in any way. He believes that the show is funny rather than scary. He does not get nightmares from the show. The only shows that have created a problem with him are ones like Futurama or Family Guy which now I have scolded him for saying inappropriate words. Though I do understand if some parents have problems with their child viewing shows like this. However, my father will glance at the tv and all he thinks is, " he is watching a cartoon." So if a parent does not actually sit down and watch the show then they are missing a lot.

I think it's too violent for younger kids. I was having issue problems after a few of the episondes >.< The show wouldn't be the same if they edited it out, though. Now if I can get my satellite back so I can actually SEE it again.....all would be good. *sigh*

I've seen the show late at night when I am having trouble sleeping. It is not appropriate for kids. However, It's not on at a time when little kids are up (or should be) where I live. 1:00 am. It's an interesting show, though.

Yeah, now that you think about it, it is kind of violent...
But I really don't care because I'm more interested in what's going on then whether or not it's too violent. Just the way I am I suppose. I too am extremely happy that they didn't cut anything out of the show, no matter how violent it may be.

I don't think it's too violent. I mean, maybe for some kids but I don't think for a lot of them. My little sister is ten years old and she watched the fansubs with me. And she didn't understand all that much of it so now she's watching the dubs. Which she absoultely adores. She's got the cutest little crush on Ed. I'm getting her an artbook or something signed by Vic at Kunicon STL in March.

    But, anyways...

She's grown up watching the news to try and see her dad on CNN or FOXNews and such channels. Between looking in the masses of soldiers, waiting for phone calls after every massive attack or explosion, seeing what's on those channels... And a lot more kids are like her so I don't think that Hagaren is that bad. It's better than somethings. :-/

Yeah, I think FMA is a little violent. If it'll get edited the half of the show is gone :/
Just like how Detective Conan was edited when it was aired here in Bahrain (and other arabic countries..). It's obviously not kids stuff, why put it early rather than late??!

I don't think it's really violent enough to scar a kid's mind... It definetely wouldn't have bothered me as a 12 year old. But I have a very open view to what kids should be allowed to watch, and I don't like when people shield children because of blood and fighting- perhaps explicit gore, yes. But I don't think FMA is that graphic. And no matter what, the show appeals to kids, and they're going to watch it.

if it "was" too violent, then thats why its on adultswim. i think any one under 13 shouldnt watch it. but usually people any younger arent supposed to be up so they shouldnt be watching it in the first place!

Well that's because the scary stuff is edited, and cut out of the anime so they can show it. The real stuff is shown in the DVD's....

    Example:
Episode 1-(Adult Swim)Starts off with Ed and Al in the desert....
Episode 1-(Uncut DVD's) They show a short scene about the boys trying to resurect their mother. They show what that "thing" they brought to life looked like (not real preety), and they show Ed massively bleeding without his arm and leg (something quite scary for the young minds eh?)....

So, i would say it's so bad on Adult Swim. But beware, they don't cut all of the stuff of. People still get killed, and stuff like that (I think that they take the sound of Gluttony eating Cornello at the end of Episode 1 on Adult Swim). But still, it IS too violent for younger audiences, even in Adult Swim.

hahahaha noooooooooooo i think tat its appropriate for 12+
Show the Uncut Ver of Dball and Dball Z now thats inapporpriate... and its not even on Adult Swim If you think bout it i think there was only about 3 times i saw blood on the whole thing they could always edit tat out too.

Then you probably havent watched the unrated FMA Episodes. For one, it show's the show's true form. I dont like my anime all cut up.
For example, Adult Swim cut a very nice part out. Episode 14, when..

...the AS version was ok. But seeing the original version made me get off my seat and comfirm what just happened in sweet detail, happened.
I like my shows nice and original.

I do think that people sometimes underestimate what children can comprehend and enjoy . . . but I have to agree that this is a bit too mature for the younger audiences. And, unforyunately, it really can't be edited without loosing its depth. The show is built around emotional trauma and pulling through it, take out the trauma and you have an Ed screaming and flailing his fists about. And only about ten episodes. That would make no sense and would be out of order.

I agree with this. Sure, the show's violent, it's suposed to be. I think without violence a story doesn't have that zing to it. You can't tell Ed and Al's story with no violence now can you?
