Anime Don't you hate it when..........

Ah I get into many fights in school so it doesn't matter with me.
yeah even my friend tease me, but I really don't care about them since they know I like animes, its those damn freshman and wise asses I refering to. Do I sound crazy for doing it, maybe.

 

Well.. the thing is that at school, whenever me and the friends that are into anime talk about certain animes and read mangas, those other ppl just kinda act as if we're really childish; they think of anime as simple cartoons, but with fancier drawings.

I never really connected anime with porn (>.<) but I know how some animes are wel.. *trail off*

BACK TO THE POINT! yes...i just hate it when ppl think badly of anime and connect it with stuff that it's not.

Why don't you consider Dragonball and Pokemon real Anime? It's not like they are particularly poor quality or any less a 'Japanese cartoon'?, so how do you catagorise things as "real" or "not real" are things you like "real" and things you hate (a word used far too readily these days, does anyone truly 'hate' anything?) are "not real"? egotistical and bigoted, words I choose to associate with those who would leap to such conclusions, like you, uncle sweetie. If that IS you real name...

 

Right just to clarify - DBZ and Pokemon are "real" anime's - I just don't perticularly like them thats all.

Well, that's just Uncle's opinion(and nowhere did he say that it was fact) which he is allowed to have.

It bothers me that people think that anime is porn, but the best way methinks to solve that is to actually show them an actual anime, like SMJ or something. But then again I don't believe in violence and if they still think that it is porn then there's something wrong with that!

Legato, although I think that that DBZ and Pokemon are animes, and Sweetie was wrong about that, I also think that your attitude is wrong as well. You are to condesending and aggresive. And I do really hate some things. Actually I hate a lot of things.

No uncle sweetie is not my real name, (My real name is Soo, pretty weird for a guy, and its Korean) its my nickname made up by my niece, so I decided to use it as my screen name.
and why don't i consider dbz and pokemon as animes because they became "americanized". I mean I watch the commercials and I see american companies making dbz and pokemon toys. Yes I know they are japanese animation and the definition of a anime is japanese animation, but thats my opinion on those horrid, giving animes a bad name animes.

Y'know, I find it thoroughly annoying that people think any less of Pokemon and/or Digimon (yes, Digimon as well) because "they're for kids". So what if they're for kids? Who said that just because it's got an innocent(ish) storyline it's not cool anymore? I happen to LIKE the aforementioned series, though I currently only play the Pokémon game. And though they can get cheesy, I still see no reason to criticize them so ... openly. I think people are rather afraid of saying that they enjoy these series just because lots of people go around saying "pokemon sux, digimon is so stupid it's a pokemon ripoff." (Yes, grammar/spelling/punctuation included in making my point).

As for DBZ, I can't say, since I haven't watched any of it and I don't really want to. That's not to say it's "dumb".

And as for getting back on topic (here I go again..*:sweat2:*), I've never encountered that problem. My mother just happened to pass by when I was watching ep14 of SMJ and said that I should show it to my currently 10-year-old cousin. Then, of course, she saw Tiger's outfit and quickly voiced her opinion against showing it to her niece. But she never once said "STOP WATCHING THAT B/C IT'S PORN!"

On a different note, has anyone encountered a little problem with angered parents in which they call anime crap? (In other words and you know it. It sounds funnier and makes me madder if it's in Spanish...:catgirl: lol)

 

did I say that pokemon and DBZ are for kids? I just happen to not like them very much I mean props to the animators and stuff - they arn't badly done or anything just not to my taste.
Anyway yes I have had that arguement with my parents in which they have called anime crap, doesnt bother me much, they call my music crap too

I like digimon (only the first season never seen the 2nd and 3rd) I have no problem with GB pokemon game (Although I thought the N64 versions kind sucked). I don't care if its for kids, i'll watch it anyways (Of course I'm forced to watch it sometimes). Its just my opinion on them, like I dislike sailor moon, but probably some of you here likes it. I like Splatter Films espacially Dawn of the dead, There probably some of you here who dislike those types of movies.

 

I like Sailor Moon - but the Western version is extremely kiddie-fied which makes it loose its appeal somewhat, the best is Sailor Stars ^_______^x

The game's kinda addictive, ne? I love Crystal Version. ^^ The pretty picture of Suicune on the cartridge is just so cute. :sweat:

I happen to like the Sailormoon dub! It's perfectly safe for younger kids that wanna get into the industry/fandom without being permanently scarred by the yaoi/yuri and all that. I mean, let's face it: a child raised in the Western Hemisphere will be inevitably biased AGAINST two boys or two girls in a... an amorous relationship. (I like using big words. ^^)

I'd say Western SM was great. Besides, you gotta give DiC some credit for the BGMs and the opening theme. (Go ahead, barrage me and call me insane for thinking it was a pretty good opening theme...I AM READY! :sweat2: teehee)

 

I never have ran into that kind of situation. And my parents and stuff don't mind since for example some anime might have a seen with people at a public bath like thing. But at Japan it is thought as normal and the person who goes would be thought as a luxury. I have been to one before but you had to ware bathing suits and there were like 13 of them some with water falls and plants surounding them and it was almost like a pool with warm water.

Funny thing is I like both Sailor moon and dawn of the dead. Theres not much I don't like. Sorry to come across condescending, I didn't mean to soap box. ehehehe.. you ppl do know whose fault this is right? It's those horrible dubbing people! They rip apart the few animes that were actualy brought over here, and make them Care Bear knock offs!

I have brought mangas to school before, y'know to read in spare time, and when people see the covers or some pages they like freak out over the clothes and start calling it porn I don't see how they get porn from Anime! That hentai S**T is giving the real stuff a bad name!

I don't see how they can judge Anime if they haven't ever seen the real deal! They like freak out about it! I have how ever come real close to hurting someone :bleed:! it's like "hey don't rip apart what I love in life"!
