Has anyone here read a doujinshi before? There are a lot of Final Fantasy doujinshi, and now games such as Tales of Destiny, Valkeyrie Profile, and Star Ocean have their own doujinshi. It's cool to have such fan comics cuz we hungry fans never really get stuffed from our favorite characters and stories in games.

but Do you guys prefer orginal manga (manga) or professional fan works (doujinshi)?

I don't own any DJ but I have browsed through a few of them that I found posted on line. (Mainly Utena and WeiB Kreuz, when I was still into the latter of these shows that is) From what I saw, though, I thought they were fairly well done.

I've only seen one Saber Marionette doujinshi out there, though (okay and one hentai DJ currently up for grabs on ebay that combines SMJ with I think Nandescio and another series o_O;). Has anyone seen any of these?

I don't really do translation on such a large scale... yet

The line goes roughly like that, yes, he does also say today in the phrase too.

I could attempt a translation of something like that... but it'd take me a while... my skill with kanji is lacking

Your post says no, but some part of you I can't see says yes..

LOL it's just fun pretending that I'm going to ask you to spend hours and hours on a translation. I'm not likely to get ahold of a Slamp manga anytime soon..

    We all are interested in the same culture, and we either need transulators or japenese courses inorder to read those untransulated Doujinshi! I kinda heard that Valkyrie Profile doujinishi was transulated, but I don't really know where to find it. As for final fantasy, star ocean, and tales of destiny, they will remain unpopular and untrasulated ;.;

Time, a Kanji Dictionary, and patience.. there, you have everything you should need to produce your own translations of doujinshi!
I wonder where online I could find doujinshi... I'd like to pick up some Koshi Rikudo stuff.. as well as other (non-yaoi/yuri/ecchi/hentai) ones as well.

    try excel-saga.com
They have some.. questionable stuff, like the original Daitenzin, but I think there are some ok ones mixed up among the rest :)

After actually looking, the only doujinshi they have is Daitenzin. Since it is under the 'hentai doujinshi' section, i would not even look.

Funny that it lived on, in a new form, if you know what I mean

Don't know how much I should trust it, but some forums on the topic I was reading said that Rikudo's Doujin's say 'Adults only' but rarely have anything of the sort, I don't know what to make of it, except for one Excel saga Doujin ('Fourth') selling for $80 on one site... Takasugiru nee... ouch. well, as soon as I get proper access back, I can check a site blocked by my proxy that has daitenzin on it, or claims such.

I'll take your word on it, but still, that episode is hilarious! Also, looking at covers of his various Doujin has revealed something, Hyatt's hair looks very different for some of them.

I like funny doijinshi, but NOT the (yaoi/yuri/ecchi/hentai) ones... I hate those types. I prefer fan fic type and the funny, (saves innocence) ones...

What is the real complete definition of doujinshi?
-Does it have to be yaoi/yuri/ecchi/hentai...??

A Doujinshi is an unofficial release. Whether it be by the original author or fans of the series doesn't matter, if it's unofficial, it's Doujinshi. How can the original author write a doujin then? simple, he doesn't send it through his publisher, or only sells it at cons, or any number of other things. Because it's unofficial, Doujinshi tends to be a bit more free spirited about certain things... and we all thought that regular manga went too far sometimes. Yaoi, Yuri, Shounen Ai, Shoujo Ai, Ecchi, Hentai, it's all there more rampantly than in the official manga. But some don't do that... and that's what we're looking for. Well... at least me, you and MO.

So, then, what legalities are involved with Doujinshi? Is simply labeling unnoficial enough?

BakaMattSu, there are no Bakas, only politics...
