We already went through the "Whats Better?" with Subs and Dubs and now it's VHS or DVD...

I already know the answer to this, everyone loves DVD more, when watching anime. But...why?

The whole board is going to be against me on this one...But I am so up for VHS and always will be...As you can tell I voted for VHS..

But what makes DVD so much better? Is it because of the extras?

I think...(Keep in mind this is MY opionon...Sorry If I offend anyone...I dont mean to) I think its because of the extras and how many episodes are on each DVD...I think VHS is the better way to go, because Anime VHS is going down soo low now (Anime tapes 15 dollars and less on half.com...my best friend :D), im sticking with VHS all the way. I could always get the extras online, and I just dont have the patience to get enough money for one dvd, because im young. I get about 2 or 3 anime tapes every week, for only $5 a tape, and these tapes have never been watched before.

Once DVD totally takes over the VHS world, then I wont have a choice to stick with VHS or not...then I will go ahead and advance to DVD, but for now...Im happy with getting VHS...I find it a lot faster and easier to go through animes this way....

Sorry bout all my rambling...^^;;; Just wanted to get my point across..

    DVD.
Apart from the extras and the amount of episodes on each DVD, I think they're handier. They're smaller, you can play them on a TV DVD player, or on your PC, and if you've got a DVD drive on your laptop, you can watch them anywhere. Also, the quality is usualy better(on a decent player, obviously).

Though I hate the expense of them, hate the fact that the publishers take advantage of us (DVDs can hold waay more anime than they put on)... I still think they have the upper hand.

-DVDs are digital, so they don't wear and tear like tapes can, meaning you get clear sound and picture even if you've watched your movie 200 times!

-DVDs are also clearer sound and picture-wise because of the same digital-ness...

-And yes, the extras can be somewhat enjoyable, but I'm usually not really a fan of them - it's the content itself I want... If pulling out extras meant an extra episode or two, I woulda dropped 'em myself!

BakaMattSu, who owns a load of VHS, not a single DVD, yet still votes for them...go figure.

Personally, I prefer DVDs. Of course, my DVD player's broken (a pox on Sony and their shoddy products!), so I'm stuck with VHS.

I prefer DVDs. All the goodies that are within them rocks! Besides, the quality of the pictures and sounds are much better.

I like DVDs for one reason. EBAY!!! and fansubs (okay two). I cant tell you how much money and space I have saved by buying fansubs on DVD thru ebay. I could care less about a whole lot of extras and previews. I care about the strain on my wallet. Let's face it I can buy full series with 10-12 eps on a DVD that saves a lot of space. Look at Gundam Wing or Kenshin. They have how many DVDS? If you go VHS its nearly double that amount. Sorry, this is turned into a rant about fansubs, but it really is why I choose DVD.

DVDs....for the same reasons that I prefer audio CDs to casette tapes...usually better quality and last far longer than VHS/casettes (as BMS already pontificated on)...but most importantly,I don't have to search blindly for a particular spot that I like,I can usually jump to scenes that I really like (or pretty close to it...).

InuYasha - through pontificating, though as always, woefully inadequate compared to BMS....

DVD, because they take up less space. And in a crowded city where you live in an apartment the size of a shoebox, space is all that matters.

DVD, because of what InuYasha says. Besides… they're prettier. I like watching trailers… and I love the sub/dub thing. And hey, we got Spanish on our SMJ DVDs! That's precious!

Still, I agree with Baka-san… they could give us more content… Even so I'm not complaining. They're getting to us and that's what counts. (Lately I've been this way... Oh well...) :catgirl:

-DVD for the simple fact that i could lug it around in my laptop so i could watch it if i really wanted to.
-Plus, if I rented it, I don't have to bother with rewinding.
-My family has now a total of no VHS players
-Box sets look cooler and take up less space as DVD's.
-Quality beats VHS anyday! No rewinder noise either! Don't go saying urs is silent, either!
-My PS2 is needed to be used for something OTHER than a mind-numbing experience through videogames. So, I use it to numb my mind through anime hot chicks!

    that enough reasons?
