Sailor Moon is one of the older animes and now, I don't know many who are still crazy about it. Ever wonder what happened? I think that perhaps it's because they were dubbed and no one really likes the main character all that much..
I was just wondering..........has anyone got any other ideas?

Because they were dubbed, and when it got intense in the show the episodes stopped. later on they were brought back on with different voices and it just was bad. the voices grew on you but it was different. maybe it was just Serena/Usagi's voice that changed.

Anyways the best season is the last one, SailorStars. God forbid it will ever be on tv!!!

Haruka and Michiru cousins? ya right!!!

Bad dubbing. Excruciatingly bad dubbing. Hellishly bad dubbing and a Satanic editing job *koff koff cousins koff koff*. I think these things gave it's more 'Americanized' version a bad rap, which made watching the dub and admitting to it enough to win one disapproval from any anime club/group. Also, the series is hella long at 200 episodes. For me the series Shojou Kakumei Utena which clocks in at 39 eps and one (weird) movie, was very difficult to obtain. Hence, obtaining copies of each episode, plus the movies, plus (for the truly obsessed) the specials, plus... can be a near Herculean feat, especially as many Otaku are college/late high school aged and thus perpetually short on cash/resources. Aside from that, do you guys and gals remember when the series first came out? It was pretty hyped for an anime of its time. Now that it's been around for a bit and anime has become a little more mainstream *shudder*, I think fewer people may like it because the novelty has worn off. Anyway, that's my two cents. Personally, I'd love to see all of it.

I think....well theres tons of reasons....

First of All, I used to LOVE SM...I think EVERYONE has gone through a little thing with SM....But, I lost intrest after awhile, but I have to give it some credict, it DID get me into anime.

    1) Almost EVERYONE hates the main character...
    2) The Lame plot...and everyday it's the same thing, destory some monster a day, and thats it
    3) They could of done so much more with it...
    4) Countless Episodes, of almost all the same thing (refer back to #2)
    5) The dub...and all that was cut out..
    6) Cartoon Network gave it a bad reputation (Half the things that go on CN...give people the idea NOT to see whats on it...Dub and Cut stuff)
    7) Dubbed Ending and Opening Themes...almost everyone hates these
    8) Because it's old...not that great animation

I could go on and on...but this is mainly the basics

i do believe Sailor Moon was among the first animes I ever saw, but at that time, I never really got crazy about it either, except I did try to collect the shiny cards that you can get for 25 cents.

I love Sailor Moon! but I don't like the one on tv cause I don't like the Way it ends up. I wanted Usagi to fall Inlove w/Seiya (hence my name!) That is why I have Odango at the begining of my name. The rose is for Revolutionary Girl Utena. Anyway no matter what It all makes me feel good b/c I look for the lessons.

    Oh! Welcome Odango Rose!

Yes, I absolutely luuuuuuuuuuvvvvvvvvv Seiya and Usagi together. Don't you think that's way better than Mamoru and Usagi??? Not that I despite them together, but I feel that Seiya's love is stronger in many ways.

    SM was my second anime, or third now that I think about it. It was, however, the first one that I knew was an anime. ^^;

    Anyway...

SM's pretty old, and people speak so lowly of it that people just don't watch. I actually liked the dubbing. Now that I think about it, had it not been for DiC and CWI, I may have never come to be an anime fan! So I'm very grateful, and I actually like the dubs. It's good for introducing purer minds to the industry. (They'll probably hate the dub once they discover the truth, but I still stand by my opinion ^^)

I agree with you Lime expecailly on #2

"The Lame plot...and everyday it's the same thing, destory some monster a day, and thats it "

I think it gets really old how it's always the same ending.

lol... Meg.. is THAT why I am seeing my SailorStars tapes scattered all over the place downstairs? lol.. That_Guy! is so messy :p

A LOT of series have same sort of plots for each episode. The great thing about it is waiting for those cool episodes to pop up where we get more information about the story line, a level up, for example in Sailor Moon, when we found out she was the Moon Princess, when hers and Mamoru's love turned her wand into a more powerful weapon.. etc...

doh! I need to get around cleaning up stuff (I'm so messy @.@x). I really don't think SM lost interest though, I mean there are still many fans of the series. I for one was more or less scared by the new voice actor in the dub of Sailor Moon... although I really like Sailor Stars, it's one of my fav's and it has great music... Actually it reminds me of Macross almost how they incorporated a band in the series...

    GO SAILOR STAR LIGHTS!!!!

oh, Seraphim can Chibi Meg borrow the tapes?

Yeah, SM was pretty much the first anime I watched, too! I was really crazy about it, especially considering that my idea of a cartoon until then was something like, well, Scooby Doo ^_^;. SM had a much deeper plot, better art, and more interesting characters.

From SM, I learned about anime, and that there were other animes out there too! So I started watching ones like Evangelion and Saber Marionettes...which were animes that had even still-deeper plots, and I didn't have to put up with Usagi and Chibiusa -_^! And after that is when I kind of lost interest in Sailor Moon~. I dunno if that's anything like what happened to a lot of SM fans in the past, but it's what happened with me ^_^.

i'm really sorry! is just that sm and usagi&mamoru are the ones who made me LOVE anime:)
    *****************************************************
Anyways, I think its because we have a lot of new animes né?! I love sm, but its the number 85 on my top 100, maybe because i LOVE U&M, and I can't stop thinking i like sm even when i know it's not true. I like usagi and mamoru not sailor moon...

Well mayb sailormoon got ppl lost interest due to the company such as cartoon network and DiC.. often made lots of changes around this anime. They always cancel the series n reappear again.. this make me very frustrted. Also i don't like their voices, did u notice that luna that cat had a British Accent?.. i think this creep me out.. i mean luna is not like from England or something.. and i think the ppl in America kinda likescrew up the episode n stuph.. cuz back in my country. . . they don't have this screw up... their voices were perfect.. n they don't cut out episodes from the original Japanese series.. like they did here in America.
i think it is understandable that ppl in America lost interest due to this.. but to me i 'm still a #1 loyal fan of Sailormoon.. n i don't plan to buy any DVDs of movies n episodes in English.. :anime:
