It's all about the spork, baby. Gotta love that thing. >: If not, I just thrust my face into the food and eat like a pig. Okay, well, not really... I use my hands.

Even though I am a chopstick man, you cannot defy the power of the spork.

hmm odd. it says 'what utensil', so I wanted to pick 'fork'... ? anyways lol the utensils I use the most are a fork, and my hands.

spoons.. not as much as the fork, and chopsticks only when eating and cooking oriental style foods.

I usually use a fork and knife, but I'm trying to get chopsticks more. Once I started to use them, I got good with them pretty quickly, and I use them, and only them, when I go to my favorite Japanese restaurant, Miyako. Unfortunately, my family is very "western," to the extent that my Grandpa is a horse-trainer, and it gets very difficult to use them outside the walls of that restaurant

The spork is the mighty eating utensil! And if one were to train with it long enough, it can be used as a weapon of mass destruction!!

Sporks are cool but I love eating with chopsticks.
Me and my friend tried to eat ice cream with chopsticks and it was fun.
    It's more challenging.
Although I have to say I'm the chopstick master.
It's fun to eat easily breakable foods like chips with them.

Lately, I find myself favouring chopsticks, especially as I eat Asian foods more and more frequently, but I still can't seem to use them for everything, especially due to customs in my household. Noodles and sushi - I've definitely been using my chopsticks for those.

I wonder about how other people feel about using chopsticks amidst people who aren't used to them? I mean, it's not like it's a big deal but...Y'know.

It's a little more embarrasing if your in a place were people are more used to using chopsticks then other utensils. About 2 weeks before chirstmas me and some college friends went to what was perhaps the most authentic Chinese resturant in Dublin, and you had to eat your food with chopsticks. I don't use chopsticks..... ever, so i had to get somebody to give me a crash course in how to properly use them. And since we were the only ones in the resturant that weren't Chinese (and i was the only one not able to use chopsticks  ) i felt really out of place, espesally when it cam to handling rice with them, that was a puzzle that took me a few minutes to workout how to do.

Anyway, i've only really used knifes and forks for eating in my entire life, so i'm afraid i'm stuck to the one choice of knifes and forks.

I usually use silverware because my parents think that chopsticks are "primitive". and won't let me use them at the table.*rolls eyes*. But when I eat Japanese or Chinese I use chopsticks.

Heh, cool thread. Silverware sounds funny, though. Is that what its called in the USA? We call it cutlery, or mostly knife and fork ^^

Well I thought I was henna gaijin, but carrying hashi around with you to eat in western restaurants... respect 0_o

I eat east asian food with hashi always, but eating soup with them is too slow, also Indian rice is not sticky so almost like eating soup (or daal). We mostly eat Indian style rice in UK, I eat a lot of it, and believe me it is not hashi friendly. Indians dont use hashi, actually they use fingers and bread to eat with mostly.

Pizza? Fish and Chips? Hamburgers? yes you can do it with hashi but why? Most Japanese food is very easy to eat with sticks though, and I think its got style. Ive been using them since I was a kid because my dad loves Chinese food, therefore when I went to Japan I could eat every little thing and quickly without a problem. Not that its so difficult.
