    Who is your favourite guitarist?

Mine's Carlos Santana, the living legend. Nobody does it like him.

    That's a tough one.
I don't think I could narrow it down to one.
And since most of these favourite posts become lists of favourites I might aswell start the lists.

    In no particular order
Devin Townsend (devin townsend band, Strapping young lad)
    Alex Lifeson (Rush)
    John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (Blue Oyster Cult)

I'm probably forgeting lots of names and I'm leaving some out for other reasons but you get the picture.

    All good choices

Cobain was a genius, and Brian May rocks. Hendrix was a god among men.

    How about Dave Matthews?

well... amoung everyone living or dead it has to be hendrix(of coarse)

but if limited simply to the living, its hard, most music I listen to has fairly little guitar(but more violin) so, Stacy from the Crüxshadows

    List:

    Page
    John Frusciante
The few songs of Hendrix's that aren't horribly egotistic, such as 1983
Some of Santana's most spiritual stuff

And a good few other guitarists.

I agree with that statement. Guitarists of Iron Maiden are good too.

Here is an interesting AIM icon i found, with Bob Marley and Jimmy Hendrix included in it. Also, i like Kurt Cobain, but i wasn't thinking of him at the time.

I'd just like to point out at this point what I terrible guitarist I think Cobain is.

He has no skill, and doesn't deserved to said in the same sentance as these guys.

OH WOW, HE KILLED HIMSELF, HE MUST BE BRILLIANT!

If he hadn't Nirvana would have spluttered out and no one would remember. And that would be a good thing.

Well, as far as skill is concerned, you may be on to something. I swear, the guy only knew like three chords. However, he revolutionized the music industry. Face it, without Nirvana, none of the hard rock or metal that has come since would be nearly as much fun to rock out with. In faculties other than guitar, he was also quite advanced. The man was not just a musician; he was a genuine ARTIST.

    Em... nope...

Nirvana had ripped off one or two 80's grunge band to get their sound, and weren't even the best of their style around.

If they hadn't come to be, the Pumpkins would have been bigger. Or maybe a completely undiscovered band. As for Cobain being an artist, I wouldn't really agree. There are better vocalists, and there are better songwriters.

I would miss the Foo Fighters, though.
