    Exactly. No Cobain, no Grohl.
Besides, Nirvana was the voice of a generation. Not my generation, mind you, but there are those who would call them that.
Also, the Pumpkins weren't even grunge. They were just Billy Corgan trying to be cooler than he actually is. And what's up with Zwan, or whatever he calls them. They're just his old loser band with one different member and a new name.

Heheh, I was gonna have a cobain rant back when he was first mentioned, but I held back.

He was at best a mediocre guitarist in a mediocre(that's being generous) band.
And Nirvana didn't influence anything worthwhile.

listen carefully now NIRVANA IS GOD Cobain changed rock and roll for ever. and as for stealing other band's sound that it total cr*p. he did nothing of the sort he is totally original.

also he didn't kill himself, Courtny Love killed him and their is evidence.

i agree whole-heartedly with mad hamish on the cobain/nirvana front...
    my list
    Roine Stolt
    Steve Stevens
hendrix was an amazing technician, but as a general rule he played chops, not music.
and best bass goes to Tony Levin, hands down.

    Good... grief.
I think we have a candidate for that Breeding Restrictions thread.

I guess I should post something else to stop this from being spam... Well, I don't really have a favourite guitarist. Sure, there are a lot of guitarists that I like, but that's mainly because of the music they play more than their talent as a guitarist(although most guitarists in bands that play music I like are damn talented). I think different guitarists are good at different styles, and different things. So, I have no overall number one.

Dude, Billy Corrigan and the Pumpkins are awsome. Zwan isn't as good, but it has Pas(z?) from A Perfect CIrcle, so....it makes it better. Sorta.

Ehn, to each his own. If y'all're gonna bash Cobain, I'll return fire. Somebody's gotta do it. You can't have an argument by yourself, and I'd hate to see those of you with chips on your shoulders not have anyone to yell at. Some like him, some don't. I didn't, but I at least have the respect for his work to admit that he did something significant.
If some of you can't let others have an opinion differing from your own, I'm sorry for opening this thread. I thought we could have an intelligent discussion without anyone starting to call each other names.

Well, i didnt bash Cobain, i like Nirvana's music to some extent, but i stopped talking about it when Mad_Hamish started talking about it(Mad_Hamish is scary!). To make this less spam-like, i have to say i like Jesper and Bjorn from In Flames, not because they are spectaculat guitarists, but i like their names and In Flames' music(alot), so i like them.

Going to address two things here
One: "Cobain was totally original" (raven)
Two: "Cobain sucked" (some irish dudes)
Sorry those aren't my words (The emphasis is mine though). While using someone else's quote may show a lack of articulation and originality on my part, it does show that at least someone else shares my viewpoint.

Summary, in my own words (my english teacher would be proud) Nirvana was not totally original, they ripped the Pixies. But, they were still great. IMNSHO :D

(The article I jacked the quote from)
