Heh, only way u can beat it in 20 hours is that you have memorized everything and fast at doing it. That is the only way you can beat it in 20 hours. Heck, I played it through without training and got 24 hours and go into crater. Yet I went on and took my time. Btw, 4 hours was being lost X_x.

Ah where is FFIII for PS? Noooo! Oh well. My favorite would be FFVI because it got me into Final Fantasy. I remember my brother coming in with the FFVI box for PC. I was like "Hey I'll try this out". After a couple of hours of playing I said to myself "Damn this is addictive!" FFVI had the plot, story, characters, system, weapons, and props.

Uh, Sol, aren't you talking about the same FF? VI is III in its US persona. Well, you're probably talking about something different.

    Anyway...

<~~~~ FFVIII (Though I know a LOT of people don't like it on this forum...) in 10 hours. LOL. Damn my level 14 characters forever. And praise be to Doomtrain, who saved many a keyster.

Anyway, just for PSone, I'll vote...errr...VIII. Neither VII nor VIII were very much into Fantasy...but I liked VIII because at least most of the main cast actually grew up. The only person that really did any forward movement was Cloud...and maybe Tifa. But that's about all. Wait...you had Vincent, and Cid...Barret didn't change MUCH...Red...was Red. Yuffie was the same...well, for the most part. Still, I'll be the lone voter for VIII here, if needs be!

I had to vote for FFX because, well let's go down the list...

FFVII: Nice, but way too overrated and praised for it's time. Also people tend to generalize the villain in this one, by just classifying Sephiroth as straight up "evil". Might I point out, unlike people like Kefka and Ex-Death, that Sephiroth had a deeper goal, that wasn't just to destroy the planet? Or it could just be me. Thankfully, there's one part that still cheers me up...

(SPOILER ALERT EVEN THOUGH ALL OF YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS, BUT I'LL PUT IT UP ANYWAY!!)

Hell yeah, Aerith got knifed in the back! >D Huzzah for impalement!

(SPOILER IS OVER, YOU CAN CONTINUE READING NOW!! HOPE YOU PAID ATTENTION TO THE SPOILER WARNING!!)

FFVIII: I found this like watching a soap opera... and if you would examine neoblacklady's thread about "what if consider", I find that soap operas are a waste of space. There was more watching than there was playing. Not to mention the music wasn't as catchy as some of the tunes in VII.

FFIX: Gee, I thought I bought a Final Fantasy game, not a sequel to something like the Rugrats produced by Nickelodeon. This just simply wasn't appealing in the least, the characters were extremely shoddy, right down to the cliche Thief/Warrior main character, to the rebellious princess, to the righteous knight, and onwards towards comedic relief and the bad-***, emotionless, yet still blooming loner. In fact, this Final Fantasy was the most quintessentially cliche Final Fantasy game I've ever seen, played, or heard of and was attempted to be covered up by making the main character a Sayai-jinn, throwing in another cheesy love triangle, and giving a character red hair and pale indigo colored skin. The only thing I can honestly say I liked about this game was Blank, who unfortunately wasn't that much of a playable character. Down right yuck.

FF Chronicles: Honestly, I can't really say anything too much about this... I'm not even 100 % sure what it is... I could be wrong, but I think it's the Playstation release of Final Fantasy IV (II) and Chrono Trigger... if I am correct, I really don't have anything bad to say about this. I enjoyed FFIV and CT. Though not really as much as FFX.

Kingdom Hearts: I haven't played it, but I've seen it being played and that was enough to make me want to cry and await the announcement that Squaresoft is going to be filing for bankruptcy. I don't even know what people see in this game, maybe I'm just blind or maybe I'm just ignorant, I've heard both before.

FFX: One thing that I'll admit that I liked about FFX was the fact that Squaresoft finally decided to give the characters voices. This was enough for me to just at least try it. I was also a bit impressed with how Square decided to include a language that wasn't entirely consisting of either "Kupo" or "Wark". When thinking about it, I can honestly say that I didn't really like too many of the characters (limited to mainly Rikku and Auron), but in the rush of the game, I actually began to feel for even Tidus (which might I point out is the first time I've ever done so for the main-head character of any FF game, set aside FF Tactics). Also a few notable twists in side that surpassed even some Chuck Palahniuk books. One thing, how ever, that did disappoint me was one of the villains; Seymour. Now, I'm not one to make fun of hair in games usually (and look at blonde, spikey-hard sons of *****es and old men with mohawks), but I just didn't know what to think of Seymour. His hair gave me the impression that he was some Devilish rendition of Sailor Moon or something, and I think his clothing was a bit of a faulty design, as through the entire game it made him look fat (and if he was really fat... no comment). But what disappointed me even more so was just how Seymour was in battle... he was easier than...

(Another slight spoiler, for the Hell of it)

The final battle with Sephiroth, when all you have to do is have Cloud use Omni-Slash.

    (End spoiler)

Thankfully there was Sin which really made up for Seymour and the characters I didn't enjoy (mainly Yuna).

Though what I am really disappoined in is this poll..

With the fact in how it seemed to lack my favorite Final Fantasy, but eh, oh well... last time I used that one in that "Who Am I?" thread, it took like four or five pages of posts for people to get it.

So does Ehrgeiz, guess we should consider that an FF game (like some people already have)...

Hey, there's some moogles in other Squaresoft games too. You can be moogled in Secret of Mana... there's FF XIV or whatnot...

Haha sorry I was typing it when I was about to go to sleep. They made a FF III for the PS1, which was FFVI in Jap. The box is not FFVI, but FFVII. Sorry guys. Alright, just place FFVI with FFVII. I think I got mixed up with my roman numerals again.

Anthology is a collection of Final Fantasy V and VI (Final Fantasy V was never released her as a US number, and VI is most commonly known as Final Fantasy 3.) bundled together in two discs released for the PSone. There's also another set out called Final Fantasy Chronicles that had Final Fantasy IV (Final Fantasy 2, in the american release) and Chrono Trigger.

These games featured classic SNES gameplay with rendered movies and cut scenes...though I have only ran into ONE on Final Fantasy V thus far...and that was the intro. It also featured long load times when getting into battles and going into your menus. Perhaps because they didn't really seek to tweak out the speed of the loads at Square. Chrono Trigger is in there mostly because it was a REALLY popular game, and there was really nothing else to bundle up FFV with...and I doubt a lot of people would buy it if it came out by itself and is sold for 30 bucks.

However, I think Chrono Trigger is where the Anthology series shines. It comes with a TON of extras, and a cut scene/prelude to Chrono Cross, it's sequel. Plus the fact that its built in replay value only rises because the more you complete the game in a number of different ways, the more extras there are. The other FFs in the set have most, if not all, the extras revealed after the game is beaten once. Okay, so Chrono Trigger is NOT Final Fantasy...it follows the same brand of story, a pretty much one-shot line that deals with magic and (at the time, a Square trend) technology mixed together. It had great characters, even if the main one didn't talk if you don't count one of the endings, and a really intuitive battle system that allows for some control of who you fight. You also had double techs and triple techs in which a set of two or three certain characters with certain techniques can combine strengths to make a more powerful technique. (Delta Force, baby!) Oh, did I mention that all the art is done by the same guy who does Dragon Ball? Well, it's blatantly obvious in some parts...like Crono's hair, and Marle's hair (Goku and Bulma, anyone?) style. Also, there are MANY cut scenes in which you see the characters animated in classic anime style. No cheesy renders that makes everyone seem to have plastic on here (like in FFV)...you get beautiful looking anime in Chrono Trigger.

Final Fantasy IV is what I consider the hardest of the anthology. Characters die fast, gain levels slow, and enemies always seem to be one step ahead of you. But, you do get to build job classes. It takes away individuality of the characters...but you can build them up strong (though never strong enough) with so many different abilities that you get confused on what you want your party to do exactly. However, it's still a great game, if not, with a decent story. Besides, it's one of the only games you get to see a female dragoon.

FF V is FF 2 in the US. It deals with a paladin and having to save the world. Known mostly for its notorious last boss and ... well, that's what *I* know it for. Pretty good story, although rather spotty at some points. There's almost no backstory...but then again, it seems to be that way with FF IV as well. Characters are all different, with varying strenghts and weaknesses. Kain kicks all butt with his Jump command that does double damage with a spear *and* keeps him outta harm's way. Not to mention the fact that he's the coolest looking character...in practically ANY FF. And you get a Cid that looks like a bear in a blue jumpsuit. Can it get any better than that!?

FF VI is FF 3. Like the other three...this was originally a Super Nintendo/Super Famicom release. This featured the BIGGEST FF game in its time. I mean, this game was HUGE when it first came out. You had something like...14 characters. With lots of hind story...you can find out a bit of history between the Figaro brothers...Edgar and Sabin. Or delve a little into Shadow's past by continually sleeping in an inn to view his dreams, provided you have him in the party. And each of them is UNIQUE. Edgar has tools like chainsaws, Sabin has blitzes and martial arts techniques, Mog dances, Cyan has quick draw techniques...etc. You also have the first (and one of the only, other than Chrono Trigger and X, maybe IX too) "Free party" engines. You don't HAVE to have a certain member in your party at all times. This makes for a lot of weak characters once you find definite favorites, but it's cool because if you don't like one character (Gau...eeeeeewww...useless dude! ...for the most part...) you can just NOT use him. Plus it's LONG. A good day of playing long. What else? Uhh...graphics were astounding, considering what platform and the restrictions it had on it. Plus super memorable scenes. The Opera, the escape from the floating island, and such. It was also the start of the Final Fantasy tradition of LONG endings. The total amount of time for the ending bordered on half an hour! The best Final Fantasy out there, thus far...I think. Well, one of. VIII comes close...VII a little further behind. And X, is probably tied with VII.
