Do's fight every enemy at least once its better than running away from them
save after every imporant find trust me it helps a lot when you get the rare items than die and loss them and have to get them again
don't be afaid of using your best items when in a pintch thats why they are there
learn from your mistakes if you loss a boss fight remember how you lost and stratigiz

Don't don't ever cash in a check your bum can't cash...meaning dont think your invinsiable.

dont forget where imporant items are in case you die

RIght. The important thing in FFVIII is to junction properly, if you max out your magic inventory and don't cast your stats get hardcore bonuses. But as long as you junction well then keep leveling, it makes the game at least slightly more difficult and running away is boring anyway.

 

LOL@this thread. The absolute best thing you can do in FF:

Play through the game taking it all in and enjoying it for what it is. A game. Usually with some cool characters, awesome music and some good visuals. Play it your way, no one can tell you how to enjoy your game. ^^

 

In a sense, this is a thread where people post thier most reliable tips. The reason (I believe) that FF is so good is because the storylines that it places the players to embark upon. Nobody can force you to play a game...of course you do it all by yourself. And enjoying it is another factor that can only be affected by you, the player.

Do's: Examine your surroundings...hoping to find something interesting.

Don't: Make wreckless moves for they sometimes may end up hurting you in the end.
