Since I haven't seen anyone here talking about Great Teacher Onizuka, I figured I would start a thread. I got it a little while ago and I'm hooked after the first 4 eps. Has anyone here seen it? If so, what did you think?

The basic plot follows Keiichi Onizuka. A 22 year old ex-biker punk who dreams of being the greatest teacher in Japan. Loosing his virginity and scoring with high school girls is only his secondary goal.

Its pretty shounen, but hilarious for both genders. I think its 13 eps, but I'm not sure it could be 26. Theirs also a live action version and a manga version. I hear the manga is much better than the anime series. Umm what else... Oh ya the first opening theme is done to Drivers High by L'arc en ciel.

There are, according to one website I read, 43 eps of the anime so far. With a hint about a GTO2 in the last ep. That info may be wrong though.

Too true. The opening theme is one of those things I can watch over and over again.

Have finally seen ep one. I laughed. really hard. There a a few similarities with a certain series starring Kintaro Oe. The facial expressions, the ecchiness of the main character who's still good inside, I think

Bottom line, it made me laugh really hard, so it is worth it. Grab yourself a copy somehow.

Now was it the series, or the included authentic japanese TV commercials that made you laugh more?

I love the commercials, anyway, and agree that the GTO manga and anime are pretty cool, even if Onizuka is kinda ecchi...

I know - when I watched the fansub, there was a commercial for a L'arc en Ciel album in the commercials. The funny bit of it was the guy announcing the release had a hard time saying it. So, I was just reminiscing about that commercial.

I never knew there was a anime for GTO, last summer at Japan I saw it on tv for the first time, but with real people playing. I expecaily liked the last episode it was like really deep.*smiles* Just kidding, but it was still really good though. :p
