I'm currently pissed and am going to go on a rant.

Is there any purpose to this world? People killing people, rape, gangs, robbers, incest, how people treat each other. I mean, "What is the meaning of life?" To get married have kids, be as happy as you can be, die and let your kids repeat?

It's just gotten to the point where were a useless society that for the most part has no respect for another person. And the only thing we really do to better humanity is to create more things to entertains us whether it's games or computers or gaming systems or TV shows...that's all we really accomplish from year to year.

Now I'm not one that should complain about this, as I myself enjoy anime A LOT and want more and I'm not going out and making society a better place, but who here is? I do however have the basic respect for other beings, whether it's saying "Hi" or "Bye" or just being as nice as possible and as understanding and patient as possible. I myself am a "loner" I like being by myself and don't require (or want) much social contact. I think this has a lot to do with my experience w/ other people. Most of them "for the lack of a better term" are a waste of space. But I'm sure some people reading this might think, "you are a waste of space too." And that may be true in some sense, but I myself don't try and hurt others or do anything negative that would involve someone else's feeling being hurt or making them not get any sleep because of me. I just don't understand what we've turned into.

Is there a God and were here to be "judged?" Is earth where we decide Heaven or Hell? And if so is it true if you kill and rape as long as you ask for forgiveness, It's all okay. Or is this a meaningless life where you try and be happy (or is it rich) until you die and that's it...the end, no more. You just hope to God (If there's one) that your not reincarnated as a lesser creature to live life again.

Now I don't want this to turn into anything religious because everyone has there own point. And can argue them till they die...of course by then they know, but can't tell us "what life's for". (I myself, if you really care...believes in God and doesn't believe in God. I fear if I don't believe I’ll go to Hell, But I don't really believe in something with no proof...other than a bible, that I didn't SEE God write in the first place.)

But I'm getting off track...is the world such a bad place as I think? Maybe this is just a bad night for me, but is it all so not true? Now I know not everyone is like this and I must say I really don't have anyone on M2A that I don't like. I think this is a nice forum for the most part w/ the same kind of people. But if I meet you in person would I feel the same? Now I hope I don't piss people off and every time they see Alien_Sacrifece they just skip over it saying, "He's an A$$ Hole!" I don't direct any of these comment to the other members of this forum...this is just a place I though I could express myself and hear what other thought.

(I think one reason that I enjoy anime so much is because the characters make a difference in their world to make it (for the moist part) a better place. And they usually do it in a cool way, whether it's cutting up the bad guys w/ swords or magic or bounty hunting. Usually anime is the good vs. the bad where there is something the character can do to make the world better. I myself wish I could make this World a better place, but it's not like anime where you go and fight the clear defined "bad guy" it's more complicated where there's really no way to fight or defeat a "clear bad guy" that would stop the pain and make life better. What can you really do? Join the army? The cops? What can these really do? They stop a lot of violence, yes I'll agree and I wouldn't necessarily want to live in a world w/o them because then we'd never have any peace or "good life." Sometimes I just wish I could be the "super hero" fighting the bad guys making life better and having a meaningful life knowing it wasn't wasted! I don't know if this will be deleted by the Moderators, but I hope it's not...I've made some valid points and would like to hear what you think. I do feel better now, Thanks for listening to me! :)

Many who live deserve death, and many who are dead deserved life. Can we give it to them? Do not be too quick to pass out judgement.

While there are *many* people out there who are viscious bastards, if we killed them we'd be no better than they are.

I feel the only really valid ending of another life is to save others.

    But thing is...

Sure, we all like to see the bad guys soldiers get slaughtered. But we never see their crying wives and confused children. We never see that soldiers parents weeping at the funeral of their child (and, having seen parents at their kids funeral before, NO parent should EVER have to bury their child). We just see a stupid drone get killed off.

    BUT

I feel that its ok to take drastic measures if its in self-defense or protection of others, as long as its appropriate to do so (like, you wouldnt stab someone in the gut who took the last slice of pizza. You could do that if they were going to kill you).

In an offensive strike, well, in a war it *is* different. You'll have to kill those people if you want to survive and succeed in your objective, but frankly there should be no glee, no joy in wiping out the enemy. They were just following orders, just like you. And to them, YOU were the bad guy. It's all a matter of perspective.

I feel our purpose on Earth is to grow as people, and frankly you can always tell the more 'advanced' people from the more base ones... the mature ones tend towards universal compassion, joy in others joy, and a balance of passion and reason.

Deeds are worth more than creeds.

If its any condolence, mankind has often been like it is now. And we've managed to survive so far. Maybe, just maybe, we'll keep on going.

Maybe even do better as a species than we have so far.

Lord knows there is room for improvement.

I thought TV would have desensitised everyone by now.
You'll get over it and start worrying about your own life instead of everyone elses.
    If you don't well I guess you're a humanitarian.

But what ever people say. One person can't change the world.
A whole nation can't change the world, look back 1000, 2000, 3000 years things weren't a whole lot different, we just do things differently. You can affect things sure, but to change the world you'd have to change humanity.

My adivce, concern yourself your your own life and your loved ones. If you can't, well good luck.

If all else fails go watch "It's a Wonderful Life".
They should show that at international conferences or mail copies to Bush and bin Ladin.

i personally think that one person can chnage the world. okay maybe not the entire earth but one person can change the world for certain people like in 'Its a Wonderful Life' george had changed his world for the better without even knowing it. okay you can go ahead and say its just a movie but i personally think it has a lot of truth. one can change the world for the worse as well (ex.hitler) its all a matter of what you choose. so basically im saying one individual can change the world i could be just an optimistic fool but i believe it. its kinda like that starfish story. 'i may not be able to make a difference for every single starfish, but for this one i did' thats just my take on that thanks for your time and sorry if it didnt make sense ^.^

Depressing or not, its reality. We can run from it, but we'll accomplish naught but weakening ourselves. Only by facing and overcoming these difficulties can we bring hope for real peace and happiness.

When we say changing the world we really mean changing the human race and none of that is changing the world, it's merely effecting the lives of others to varying degrees. Hitler affected the lives of millions in a negative way , but he didn't steer the course of human evolution in a different direction. We're the same people we were before the war, we just think we're wiser. But like Alien_Sacrifice pointed out we're not one bit the wiser. THe crimes commited today are the same as they've always been.

There's a pattern to history and if you look at it we haven't deviated one bit. Empires rise and fall with war and decadence, we'd be very arrogant to think that we're an exception. However arrogance is in abundance these days.

You can change the lives of those around you for better or worse. It depends on how you want to be remembered.

Am I the only one that doesn't find that one bit depressing at all?

Edit: s**t this is getting to deep for my liking

Ya, the world is pretty much hopeless so enjoy it while you can. Cause the one minute you could be playing some video games or watching animes while listening to music. and the next minute, the government suits you up, gives you a machine gun, a pistol, a knife, and some grenades and send you into some foreign battlefield, and orders you to kill anything that not on your side, and then you shoot one opposition soldier, because you were just following orders just like he was (It could also be she too, who knows?) and was trying to survive. After the battle's over all you can think about is how that government is gonna send a letter stating their son/daughter died in the field of battle, and then then while these thought ran threw your heads, next thing you know a mortar shell drops right on top of your head, blowing you up into little itsy bitsy little pieces, and the only body parts recovered from the blast was your piece of you teeth and part of your small intestine. Then the government takes those entrails and piece of recovered flesh and puts it in a glass jar and sends it to your parents, along with a letter. And this whole routine starts all over again until the war is over, but then starts again when wars starts again. It's a hopeless cycle of killing and massacring the goverment calls legal killing.

Just don't let any of this bother you, enjoy life, until it bites you in the a$$

hmmmmmmm..................I see you and I think alike. Take reality for what it is and have fun with it. I've been having a bit too much fun latly though if you know what I mean. I'm gonna give it a rest for a while.

But good point about the anime. You ever notice with some anime fans that they think Japan is really like that. Some kind of fantasy land where people are actually like anime characters. I know a guy like that, it's pretty sad.

it might be alittle to late but i think that you make sence (most of it). sometimes you say things out of anger and don't really me what you say, it kinda slips out. (i hope IDAVE is reading this.)
you don't really know what you said untill a bit after its be said.
yes, 1 person can and will change the world, i don't know who or when, but i belive that it will happen.
its good to express you feelings, but don't do it when your emotional, wait a bit think it out, then see how you feel when you calm down a bit. (please don't yell at me)
also i think that its good to do things you like, but also don't over do it.
life is like that, to much war and unforunatly i feel that everyone's freakn' first reaction to something is to "blow the **** out of 'em!" (sorry for that)

no one wants to talk it out all they want to do is kill and destroy.
what i think is that i won't even live till i'm out of collage, either, i'll be shot or the damn war will kill us all.

er sorry i need to stop before i go crazy.

PS. don't hate me for what i put.

When you guys say "change the world," do you mean to change humanity in terms of taking the next evolutionary step? Change the human race's perspective on its own existence? Take the human race to a new habitable planet in the far reaches of space? I'm just curious to the nature of the statement.

If you are going to ask what is the purpose of living in this world or what is the meaning of life, it's very difficult to avoid religious and philosophic influences. From Parmenides to Socrates and Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Jesus Christ, Sartre and Nietzsche (and hundreds and hundreds of other people), there are so many points of view.

However, I'm going to whole-heartedly concur with Nephilim_X when he stated that our purpose is to grow as people. This is my personal view, though it isn't the SOLE purpose of humanity in my eyes. I wish I could quote it correctly, but my Taekwondo instructor's master Grand Master Joon P. Choi said, "The purpose of human life is to grow. It is when we stop growing that we begin to die."

Are there any opportunities for you to do community service where you live? I have taken part in a few programs, and it's a joy to see how much help I can do for a couple people around me.

The most basic answer that I can give to why people go around killing, raping, and doing other such things is because of free will. That is what people choose to do, for whatever reasons or influences.

I am very curious to hear what has spawned this rant of yours, Alien_Sacrifice.

Man, a whole forum could be made on this stuff. It could be called "Intellectual Discussion" or something of the sort . . . . hey, let's bring THOUGHT to an anime discussion board (then again, it could also bring endless flame wars and arguments)!!!

To see how such a forum would turn out, go to www.spacebattles.com, go to the forums, and look at the Non-Sci-fi Debates section.

    It isnt always pretty.

The great question with no answer!

well frankly the answer to your question will only come at the end of your life.. Maybe..

Anyway this question is actualy what made Buhdism come to exist.. So if you are realy upset with the world and want to be happy go and study Buhdism..

But anyway its a Question that if you get to worked up about it it will drive you prety much insane.. this is just how the world is.. and has always been.. in some ways we have become better then our ancestors thousands of years ago.. and in some ways.. we are still just the same Humman beast.

Can we change it.. maybe some day.. who knows.. dont dwell on it..

Just do the best you can do..
