Why even bother to care? Just turn around, walk, and don't bother answering. Personally though, I rather do something else. The complain about the pokemon, show them "Happy Tree Friends". They complain about the hentai, and it's me saying, "Dude, this Hitomi chick is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY hotter than those girls you look at in those nudie websites. I mean, shoot, at least there's PLOT!" Then I walk away. Or, I ask 'em if they watched something corny back in "their day". "Yeah, sure, I watch Friends". Then I laught and snicker at them. Then I ask them why they watch people sitting around a coffee shop complaining about nude neighbors and why gay men are so hot. Oh, no offense to you Freinds fans. I like friends too. Anyway. People who don't like anime don't have the right mindframe for it. They can't understand that animated characters with giant googly eyes speaking a foreign language can actually be respectable. I think they're just not ready for something so very different from their own culture, and small...small world. Generally, people who like foreign films will like anime because they've opened their mind a little more to something new,something fresh and different than what they're used to. I still stick to my solution however : Know you are better. People who don't accept it are fine, those who mock it are just plain moronic. It shows they fear it. Smell the fear. Smell it!!
ah, but quite often people who like anime and 'foreign films' will take this to mean that they are more opened minded and better people.. when really.. they're fooling themselves. idiots are idiots, but at least they're too stupid to know they're idiots.
Nobody understands anime. They think its just childish cartoons. I only know 3 people that actually understand (and draw)anime. And this one guy (name unmentioned) keeps stealing my drawings and tracing them and calling them his original art. Don't you just hate those people?!
I suppose I phrased that wrong. GENERALLY people who enjoy foreign films--who have not watched anime--enjoy anime when introduced to it because they have already accepted something outside their culture. You are correct, however, when you say there are morons out there who think they're open-minded and more worldly than others when they've seen a few foreign films/anime and believe themselves to be experts on it. When in fact, they really are stupid. And you're right also that it's nice for them that they don't realize how truly retarded they are...because they're too stupid. Ignorance is bliss. like other ppl said, i knew no-one at school liked anime or really knew what it was, so i just didn't talk about it. solves all your problems really. my closer friends knew i liked it, but they didn't think i was a 'looser' or anything. besides, it is becomming more widely accepted, especially in the states. anime clubs at universities attest to that. ppl will always tease you about things they don't understand, as you get older, they do it less, and you care less.

I don't deny that i like anime, but I just don't talk about it...they'd be like Neon Jeans WHAT?! Lol. I'm quite surprised at how ignorant people can be about manga and anime. They see it and they think thats since it's a group of drawings put together they think that it's kids stuff. They even get the phareses wrong, which at times can be funny. Example: They other week a guy in my class that knows that i like anime says to me "why do you like that hentai stuff". At the time i was drinking from a can and when he said that i nearly coughed coke out my nose. I look at him and say "do you have any idea what you just said?". he says no, so i tell him "If you were in Japan you would probably get a smack for saying that". So i try to explain to him the very clear difference between normal anime and hentai. Boy oh boy was his face red when i told him what hentai means.lol. But i suppose that it proves hoe ignorant people are about this medium.

"Konnichi wa" means good afternoon. "Ohayougozaimasu" means good morning. "Neko ga suki" is probably what you're looking for in, "I like cats".
I know what u mean. I live with one: My little brother, he don't like anything I watch, yet he was obsessed w/Pokemon At least u guys can get a weekend away from most of them!
Um...I knew that. Don't mke fun of me. I'm still learning. (Verbs at the end of the sentence-OHNO!) One more thing... It's 'Ohayou gozaimasu'. It's 2 words. Ha. At least I have learned a few things.(Like the u is silent-it's pronounced 'gozaimass'.)
Actually, my Japanese textbook has it as one word. That's just a textbook, though. :blush: 'Tis okay though, at least you're trying to learn, that's always a good start. I respect that.
