An innocent man. Being held captive. For no reason. In the land of the 'free'.

Its to show how corrupt and frankly ****ing stupid the US government can be.

Not to mention "and always will be"

FFS even back in the days of the KGB, Russia had a max 3 days with out charging you with a crime, ok after the second day if they hadnt charged you, you would never be seen again, but at least its better then the states standard 90 days with out charging you.

You don't know what they know. You don't know if he's innocent. Of course the FBI wouldn't tell all their reasons for holding him. They know tons of stuff they don't give out to the public and since they don't the media makes things up- most the time aren't true.
What's stupid is the reportors who think they know more than anyone else in the US.

    Ok.

I'm going to take you and lock you in my closet for two weeks. I'll feed ya, yeah, and even let you shower.

But I'm not going to tell you WHY you're in there.

I may not know he's innocent, but you don't know he's guilty.

I'd rather have my government do too much than not enough.

If you're innocent and they grab you, well, ****. That's tough. At least you can say that they're trying to be thorough.

If you're guilty and they nab you, you're just screwed. Usually.
We do have the same problem as everyone else that "the arrow of justice strikes not the gilded falsehood" (that is, folk with money get out of a lot of stuff)

Still, I'd rather they try every lead than none.

The point is not that there "following up every lead" its that there using there power to hold people they effectively don’t like (I have friends who are in jail in the US for the passed 2 years, who are charged with crimes I very much doubt they could commit, mainly because they where in Ireland at the time the FBI say that they committed the crime, with 90 days you can make up enough evidence to pin anything on you). Face it people your government is corrupt, just like every other nation, but yours happens to be a total hippocrocy(sp?).

So, what happens if they nab you and dont even tell you what you did, and you're stuck there for a while?

Theres a difference between thoroughness and zealousness.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that a government should try to protect its people. However, this is not the way to do it.

    hehe true dat mordy.

and that's just dumb, but it's the kidna crap ppl here seem to want...apparently they were also trying to get system of a down banned in the states...something about them thinking serge is from pakastan...(we were talking about this earlier at work(ie a music store) and he's from russian-esc place that we couldn't remember...think it begame with an A)
but of course the goverment will ave backing for this crap, because there are blind followers that will agree everything done is for a greater good. you show me a totally honest politition in this country, one that won't take or give bribes, won't lie their way into office, and then i'd believe there's a greater good behind the governement...

heh, no. afaik they haven't actually broken any laws by holding him.. but it's still ****ed up, if they are abusing their own citizens in this way i shudder to think what they might do in iraq.

If you think that's bad, try checking out what's going on in Denmark right now... they've enacted thier War Measures Act (or something to that effect)... Anyone who protests can be thrown in jail w/o trial.

[edit] Oh, and Bloodberry... I know a couple honest politicians. Not a lot, but there are a few. They're just overwhelmed by the majority of politicians being bastards... "Those who seek power, do not deserve it" fits most politicians..

Similar but worse, that bill specifies crowds... the Denmark act can get anyone who even says a word of protest, as far as I am aware... I'll have to get ahold of my relatives there and check though, I'll let ya know whenever I can find out for sure the exact severity of the act.
