Cowboy Bebop Is Spike Really...? (Major Bebop spoilers)

*sighs* Yet another reason why paint chips should be kept away from young children...

Okay... for just one pecosecond and we'll just ASSUME you've watched the episode because, Hell, OBVIOUSLY you haven't. If you've paid even the slightest bit of attention to the part in which Spike and Vicious trade their weapons back you can plainly and clearly see SPIKE'S STOMACH BEING SLICED OPEN LIKE A BAKED HAM. I don't know, but maybe you just magically MISSED the massive amounts of blood loss and blood flow and the wave of crimson that flowed from his rupturing abdomen and torn flesh, I don't know, maybe you just blinked and it all went away, who knows? Or maybe you don't know what in the HELL you are talking about and are a dubbie who's only seen the editted version (I'm leaning more towards that right about now).

But to comprehend this idea you have to be remotely intelligent, so for argument and time's sake I will assume you are (a horrible assumption, I know, but bare with me, folks). Did you pay ANY remote attention to the series? Or did you just stare blankly at the screen while watching idly commenting "omfg spike kickz so much ***!!!1!1!" or "d00d faye iz lik so hott"? I mean, really, this is very, very simple if you paid any remote amount of attention to the series. Otherwise, this will make it very difficult; difficult in the way that YOU are making it very difficult, which LEADS me to believe that you, in fact, know exactly jack about the series.

Spike is dead. That's that. Follow the guidelines. Pay attention. OPEN YOUR EYES. Think of it like the Matrix. Clear your mind. Open your eyes to the truth.

He's dead.

Get over yourself.

It is different because at different times throughout the series Vicious states that he is the only one who can end Spike's life, and the same with Vicious. So that is why the fight between Vicious and Spike makes it final. Spike is dead. Even though it is hard for me to take it, it's the truth. He's gone. So is Vicious(Of course) Spike completed his tasks in life, and had no reason to go on living in pain knowing that Julia was dead.

Yep he's dead. V.T.'s name is Victoria Telpsicorei. Her husband was a very famous bounty hunter. IE all the forums have mentioned a new sereis focused on VT and her husband.

His star burns out remember? Spike is history, all evidence points to it, and Cowboy Bebop doesn't fool with any of that what-if crap either. Spike is dead. It was the perfect way to end the series... i mean... what if he hadn't? He didnt have any cool super power things, so if he DID somehow make it, he couldnt flip up and kill them all or anything.... he would prolly just stagger up, and the syndicate would prolly just finish him off then and there anyway no? But its not worth debating, he's gone. Old man Bull saw it coming, heck we all saw it coming.
Anyway, I believe what he means is maybe they'll make a movie about Spike while he's with the Red Dragon Syndicate. which may be cool, if they did it right, but it would take away the shadowy past of the main character,and that's why spike is cool, because you dont know much about him until the end, even then you dont know much... it is a unique way to do it because the past is open-ended but his future is determined and fully understood. So if they were to make another movie it would probably be a prequel to the series with Spike and Vicious and Julia and that whole story told in full, or just another random incident in-between episodes like KOHD.

An interesting fact. "Cowards die many times before their death, the brave die only once." Spike's died numerous times? Hmm... perhaps he is a metaphor, embodying the coward within us all. Ed could be the little voice in your head telling crazy little things, Faye could represent the seductive, sexy side within everyone, and as for Jet and Ein, I don't really remember them (I haven't seen Cowboy Bebop in 3 years).

Or perhaps I'm wrong. Just a thought.

Dude, but think about it. What did vicious and spike both say to each other. " You know....Iam the only one that could kill you spike." "Ill return those same words to you vicious." Apperently, they did what they said they would.

Also, "the cat story" clearly foreshadows spikes death. The reason why he survived those "waves of bullets and scores of cuts" is all in that simple story. In the beginning of the thread i have questioned whether he did or did not die. But I have realized that he did. And there is enough evidence to prove it.

 

The ending, was just soo sad! But I dont want to believe that he's dead. He just, cant be.

 

Let's just say, he passed out. Or, finally was set free from his dream.

 

Nah, i think he's dead. Yes, Spike has been through a lot and survived, but maybe he just gave up and died so easily because he was tired of his hectic life. He's been through a lot, and just wanted a rest from it all, and be with his love. He did what he had to do, and so he can finally rest in peace.

After he dies, you see it going from him to all the way up to the sky to outer space. That could symbolize his soul rising to his star or something to be with his girl

i don't know, finding out that he actually survived after all this time i thought he was dead would kind of ruin the series a bit for me

 

i think that although they pointed to him dying i think that they leave it up to you to make up your mind. like in the matrix, the Oracle says "Make up your own Damn Mind" and i think thats what they want you to do here.

I think that his "death" could be a symbol of him dying from the life as "Spike Spiegel". "His true love was dead and his greatest enemy vanquished, should he return to his life once lived in which its only purpose was to find and defeat his enemy?" who knows, honestly i do think hes dead as many things point to it...btu who knows...

most likely he is dead, and they are not going to make a 2nd movie. if they do it will mostly be about the death of spike and maybe talk about the past of the main characters.thats just my guess. the death of spike was probably a more hero, dramatic,and end to cowboy bebop series and movie.

I don't understand why they would end the series with Spike passing out.. That way he'll never wake up from his dream.. that was the point of his death, to wake up. That was the point of the whole frickin series, and those who think that they would have just let him pass out (sorry if this is harsh) are complete and total idiots. You have to think about what the entire series was telling us, and all of the signs sprinkled throughout the series through the whole trip that lead up to the inevitable death of Spike (especially in those key episodes *Asteroid Blues, Ballad of Fallen Angels, Jupiter Jazz p.1&2, etc.*). Also, notice the song that played after he "passes out", "Blue". Listen to the lyrics of that song, and then ask yourself how he would be free by passing out...
