OK just to clear things up, you know the guitar that Haruko bashes people with, well its not a guitar... its a bass

A standard guitar has 6. A bass guitar is a variant or subclass of guitar, with 4 or 5 strings.

I do, I was a music student. Plus I am trying to pick up on playing the guitar.

However a bass guitar and a standard guitar ARE different. Though that's totally not what your talking about.

My bad, a bass has 4 strings and a regular guitar has 6 strings. that is the major difference besides how it sounds. They are both in the string family. You can consider them as being sibling Brother and sister. or something like that.

 

The word "guitar", however, is sort of like the "family" name of that set of instruments.

Saying "its not a guitar, it's a bass" is like saying "its not an amphibian, it's a frog".

 

what is the problem with the guitar/bass issue. It doesn't really matter. why should there be a conflict or is this just a debate class

Why would people not assume in the first place that it was a bass? You wouldn't be clearing anything up- just adding a fact onto what was already known.
