Is it just me or does it seem like LP are just a bunch of art students trying to put together a final project
...What? Anyway, Linkin Park is just a bunch of whiny little pansies. I liken them to the genetically engineered offspring of the Backstreet Boys and Kid Rock.
LP doesn't even deserve to be called art students, there music has no soul or care and they really dont have skills. I dont know why they started a band they seem to prep for me..
I don't know ... they'd fit right in with the music students I know. Both are whiny rich kids who think their problems are worse than everyone else's, and both like to ***** a lot. Both like to say how hard their lives are, but both will likely never have to worry about taking a lousy job because they need the pay to live. That guy!, I can probably clarify by discussing Linkin Park's videos. Their first single, "Everything You Say To Me" (or whatever it was called ... CD's are all in the other room), had a more or less generic rock video, with the band all tricked out in stylish clothes and dyed hair with too much gel. They were in some kind of darkish sewer-styled environment screaming at the top of their lungs. Seems a lot like other videos other bands have made. Anyway, after this song, they had established themselves and built a fan base. They didn't have to make another generic video, because at this point people had basically accepted that they were the new band on the wannabe metal scene. So, they decided to try to be artistic. Look at the video for In The End. They're on top of some giant statue in the rain doing their whole whiny schtick. Meanwhile, rapper-guy struts through a cracking field doing his emo-rap thing. And at the end there's a flying whale for no apparent reason. It does kind of look like they were studying postmodernism or surrealism or something like that in school and they wanted to try it too. And, of course, the fans just ate this up because most of them were too young, naive, self-depressing and whiny to notice the cheese. So, yeah, mangamonkey, I agree with you. Let me summarize by quoting Saliva's Click Click Boom: "What the hell is wrong with me? My mom and dad weren't perfect But still you don't hear the same old cryin'-*** *****in' from me Like there seems to be on everybody's CD"
music is art, and art is art, and it varies.. if you hate a specific art it doesn't mean that it actually suck or it could be horrible. music is music, you might not like linkin park, but that doesn't mean that they suck or they are so horrible. If so, how can you explain to me the huge number of fans that like Linkin Park? No, I don't the kind of explaination that gives they-all-teenagers-with-problem, or they-suck-as-well kind of stuff, I want something more close to data, date that says they do suck.
Zanza, I don't think you know that here in North America there is a subgroup of teens classified as Angsty. In them fit Goths, sometimes Emo and often Nu Metal. Indeed, Linkin Park is part of this angsty group.
On the contrary, Butterfly... Words such as "sucks" and "horrible" were derived in language to help support the idea of an opinion. Technically speaking, these bands ARE horrible, and they DO suck... why? Because that is the OPINION of them, and so, they suck and are horrible to certain people. So, you are pretty much just saying that everyone's opinions are wrong, except for yours. Congrats on being a tyrant.
That is TOTTALY NOT what I am saying, sure you can give your openions, everyone has the freedom to do so, but some openions look like what they are saying IS the right thing. And here what I thought from the first post.. or the ones afterwards.. Neph, I wasn't talking about North America, I was talking in general.
What you said was that you wanted data from us that bands are horrible and that they suck; you are asking us to do the impossible, to use facts to prove an opinion right, to make it into a fact. This is not rocket science or anything that we are talking about here, it is the basic understanding of an opinion which I think is quite easily capable of grasping, especially of someone like me is capable of understanding it. If you're very much done lecturing us for having opinions from your soapbox... as it is said... "Just flutter away, little butterfly. Just float away."
His evidence was so clearly marked that a five year-old could have grasped it (but you some how seem to have missed it)... And thank you, for admitting your folly and your tyrrany. That made the whole ordeal a lot easier.
Alright, let's look at a few lyrics from LP... "I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter" ANGST. "And I Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was Something I missed And I Take back all The things I said To make you feel like that And I Just wish that I didn't feel Like there was Something I missed And I Take back all the things I said to you" ANGST. "Nothing to loose Just stuck, hollow and alone And the fault is my own and the fault is my own " ANGST. "Oh I'm so tired there has got to be an end to the pain I feel when I'm Awake and alive alive alive Alive and not dreamin'" ANGST. In fact if you took nearly any of their songs and remixed it to a Backstreet Boys-paced song, you would be unable to tell the difference.
You know... I never really thought about it that much... By, dear Lord, that is frighteningly correct. x_x
I re-opened this thread, just play nice everyone, please. I don't want to see this turn into a war like every other Linkin Park thread that has been made. -TG
i like some of their songs but a little goes a long way. they seem to only sing about what's bad in life but i like a little variety although what neph says about the backstreet soundtrack is frightening
Well, sure, they are most definately angsty, but they did bring some degree of uniqueness as far as style. Such an explosive rap/rock combo with a leader who can sing like a backstreet boy AND scream like splitknot (Okay, so not THAT much, but try to grasp the point. :3) is a rare thing. All of them being art students is a funny thought. Quite true. :3 They get on my nerves sometimes, with their all-the-same-songs, but they did start something, and you have to give them that. In my opinion, its just nice to listen to every once in a while. I hate them after a while, and then come back to them. Then I hate 'em again, and happily return months later. ^_^
I agree with UFOtaku. I listen to them on and off. But I realy wish they would sings about fluffy bunnys once in a while ^_^. Its a funny thought tho, them being art students lol ^_^. Thanks for re opening the thread that guy ^_^. x
And if we gave praise to anyone who ever "started something", we'd be praising Hitler right now because he managed to turn grown men against an entire race of people. At first, I liked Linkin Park, as I was in that "stage", the same stage that every teenager who thinks their life is the worst does. But then I got taste in music. ;P But, really, I kid, I kid. And personally, I'd hate whoever brought someone who sounded like a Backstreet Boy and a Slipknot member. >: That's like the worst of both worlds, in my opinion. Or something similiar.
