Sailor Moon Mamoru - Dig him or Ditch him?

Yes, like in that clip in the R movie when Usagi is at Mamoru's apartment. And in the manga, goodness know where her parents think she is - she rarely seems to sleep anywhere but in Mamoru's bed!

 

I'm not saying he didn't spend time with her, but they were always at his apartment. They did a bunch of romantic stuff, going to the flower place, but did he ever show any real, real affection in public? Was there ever an 'I love you' or a kiss in public? Course not, he's a typical Japanese guy, which is what gets me angry... it's very rare for Japanese people in general to show affection in public... which is why i hold back the urge to barf when I hear all these Japanese love songs, or opening themes songs about love, Japan ain't a lovey dovey country... it's not even a nice coutnry (in attitude)... they're fairly mean... there's this saying in Japan... the nail sticking out will be hammered in... in other words people who try to be different/are different will be frowned upon by society... this explains Hotaru's situation... since she's different... while we american viewers ask ourselves why are they so mean! She's amazing! the Japanese viewers always saw her as the freak that deserved the pummeling....

But back to Mamoru and Usagi...

Seiya not being Japanese of course, knows no better. He and Usgai had lots of fun, and acted alot like an american couple does on a date, (I think Seiya really wanted to hold her hand....) and it was just so cute and nice....

Yeha it may be true love but Seiya treated Usagi better than any man in Japan could. I was always one to think Japanese girls didn't deserve the a-holes they ahve to deal with down there... but that's the why it is...

Look bakc on thsoe episodes, see if you can spot a time they hold hands while walking. I dare ya... you'll enver find it... cause that's very rare in Japan as well... I don't even think the adults do that...

 

Hum, I do not know the particulars about japaniese culture, but from the way you put it, I can see the truth in some of the stuff you said (since I can notice it in friends and Japaniese people around the area). Well, aren't some levels of love supposed to be a private thing anyways ?

I never payed attention to Usagi and Mamoru and whether they held hands in public. But drawing upon what I remember, i'd have to say that they really never did do that (unles you consider the rest of the senshi to be "public" which I don't think you do ). Anyways, I still favor Mamoru because he really does love her and she loves him, and in my opinion, thats all you need.

 

But don't you ever stop to think that perhaps the Japanese like their culture? There's a lot of things about American culture that I just can't understand, since I don't live in America, but i don't critisise your culture because i've never experienced it first hand, and i'm sure most of you guys like things how they are.

 

i agree with sailor earth. but i also have to say that i cant stand mamoru. for crying out loud, all he does is throw the rose. i almost wish zoicite (or was it jadeite) had killed him off.

Yargh, actually Japan's not liek what everyone thinks, I foudn out all abotu Japan from a girl that has experienced it first hand. She's much older than me, is asian herself, (well, I believe she lived most of her life in America anyways... her name ain't asian, btu she defiantly looks asian, so yeha, ya know the situation here, I don't have to explain. ) and she went on a exchange student program to japan, where she learnt alot about the place. Now, she's liek 21, her boyfriend is 100% Japanese, and she goes there at leats once a year, (actually, I think she's gone three times this year) She tuaght me alot about Japan...

But another thing, maybe I should've mentioned... about what Japanese teenagers are like.... uh, when girls are around the age of 14 and under, they're still like 'EWWWW!!! BOYS!!!' but ocne they get into high school, all of sudden SEX is the only thing that matters. Yes, I'm serious. >.< They never show affection in public, but all they ever wnat is sex... parents just shrug it off, maybe because there aren't as many worries down there about things like AIDS, then it is here in America and Canada. Alchohal has alot to do with Japanese culture as well... our stereotype image of the Japanese business man, is that he works hard and comes home, blahblah... actually, he comes home form a long's day at work and drinks his troubles away. Yeah alchohal and sex aren't 'taboo' down there, they drink more in collegde than they do here.......

But yeah, the girl was telling me, she foudn ti hard to believe the girls in Sailor Moon were actually 14, cuase they don't act anything like Japanese 14 year old girls. But they were only made 14 because of the age the show was targeted at.

Also, with teenagers, a common way of communictaing to the opposite sex is to give love letters, even in high school, boys and girls still don't know how to comunicate with each other...

And somedya i do plan on going to Japan... my shcool offers exchange student programs there (we had two Japanese girls from there this year), so i just need to get my marks up higher....

If it was not for the fact that he loved usagi so much, i might ditch him! It's just soooo cute how he wastes all of that energy on her!!!

 

I dislike Mamoru, he was so awsome at first but then he turned boring and sort of lame.

ever since I say Seiya-kun I've thought that usagi should be with him! because, he would have done anything for her, and her life would have been so much more fun than with mister Mamzzzzzzz....

 

I like Mamoru. True, Usagi and Seiya were good together, but I didn't really feel Usagi being as into him as he was to her. And being together is more than just going out to fun places and such. Go Mamoru & Usagi! ^_^

 

Manga Mamoru
I'd dig him. He's much more useful, powerful, sweeter and caring. When him and Usagi are together you'll notice how deep their love really is. He's much more powerful with la smoking bomber.

Anime Mamoru
I'd ditch him. He's kinda more unfeeling for Usagi in the anime than in the manga.

 

I really like the manga him but I HATE the anime him, so its kinda so-so really. On some counts I like him some I don't but I respect Takeuchi Naoko's choice to make someone like him so..I can't say I love him and I can't say I hate him (^-^)

 

I don't know if I like him

Sometimes he's cool and sometimes he's just plain annoying so I'm stuck on the border of being annoyed by him and liking him

 

You know, after I knew who he is and why he is.....I just started treating him like "Sailor Earth"...... the weakest Senshi of all.....

So... I don't hate him, I just like don't him either.... I definitely liked him before he revealed everything though.....

 

i would ditch the anime version of mamoru and definitely dig the manga version. he is so much sweeter in the manga rather than in the anime.

 

I am for Mamoru. I am glad he and Usagi are together. Maybe I am just a romantic at heart.

If Usagi and Mamoru couldn't be together then I would have to point to Alan. I thought they would make a cute couple. As long as whats her face didn't get in the way.

I have never seen Sailor Moon Sailor Stars so my opinion may change.

I am for Usagi and Mamoru. They are so sweet to one another and if Usagi misses one day without talking to him she burst into tears. It's so cute. I know he cares for her a lot and to be honest I rather stay home and cuddle with my Guy than go out. So more power to ya Mamoru :anime:

i also can't say how they are in the manga past the miestress 9 and others stuff in the manga cause i can't get my hands on the other manga seris
so based on what little i cn remember about the anime and what i have read in the manga my decision is that i like mamoru and usagi together

 

He was only useful in the first two seasons. After that...he sucked BIG time. XP And besides, I think Usagi-chan should be with Seiya-kun
