    Metal detectors...
Ugh. They dislike me. A LOT. Every time I go through one it beeps like crazy...

    This is my funniest experience...

I was in the airport in Greneda, West Indies. I walked through the metal detector. It went off, of course. I took out the change from my pockets. I went through AGAIN, and it, of course, went off, AGAIN. I took out my 6 earrings, my bracelet, took off my shoes, took off my suspenders (which I leave hanging down) and checked the rest of my body for metal.

About... six tries later, the security finally got annoyed and took me to the side, where they patted me down (grrr.) and took the wand-thingamajig.

Sweeping me up and down, they found metal in quite a few places.... those being...

    1) the tin foil that was used in my dreadlocks
    2) my bra
    3) something in my leg, causing it to beep (I still haven't figured it out to this day)
    and wost of all...
MY RETAINER! ARGH!!!! Finally they let me on the plane, but a lot of people on the flight gave me funny looks. *sighs*

Has anything like this happened to you before, wether it be a metal detector, secuirty of any sort, ect.?

I was searched for the first time 2 days ago a London's Heathrow International airport. I think it was my gold bracelet I was wearing but they didn't bother telling me to take it off. Oh well, alll went well and I'm at San Francisco :)

well I've not had any trouble with those but some years ago when I went out from a store after buying a thing the alarm started shouting but I just went back and asked them wtf they did wrong and they had forgotten to unbeep the game from the alarm code and guess what, it happened the next 4 times also and they recogniced me when the second time happened so I just gave them the game that I had purchased and they unbeeped it again, the thing is that I didn't try to steal anything and I think they knew that too or else I would have gotten pissed like hell if they accused me of stealing

I know that this isn't about a metal detector but it's a detector thing atleast

That's pretty scary... I have a story about detectors too... uhh in a library near our house they have a detector thing so people can't steal the books... well it's really messed up and there hasn't been one time where 20 minutes passed by without it beeping right after the librarians checked it out...

To keep it kind of on track, metal detectors have never given me trouble either... I'm sorry you had to get searched though ><

Weird, here you go through the metal detector only once, and if it beeped, they take us aside and sweep 'that thing' and off we go!!

well not a metal detector to be exact buta detector of some sort.

I had just bought something from a store, and was on my way to another store. When I walked in, the alarm went of and, it was for an entirely differnt store. Turns out the idiotic person forgot to take of the beeper tag. Geez. So I had to walk across the entire mall to get the stupid thing fixed. >_< some people.....

Similar to Nea-san, I bought a memory card at one store in the mall, walked into a music store at the other end of the mall and set off the beeper. They deactivated the memory card for me right there though.

Apparently, some shoes from JC Penny set off Wal-Mart's security scanners too.

Hmmm, thats odd. What kind of shoes do that? I mean those are like two Very different stores. Alike in some ways, but still supprising that they would set them off. Are they like something with the same type of material in the tag, as in the shoes?

when i read this i was reminded of the spinal tap comedy, where the band sets off the metal detectors in the airport, because he has a cucumber wrapped in aluminium foil down the front of his pants....:D

    Not entirely sure on the shoes. Some boots, some sneakers. It has to do with a metal plate inside one (or both) of the shoes, that manages to set off the security dectors at Wal-Mart. Believe me, I've deactivated enough kids' sneakers to know. ^_^;;;

    THAT'S DEGRADING!!
Ever have the 'pat down'? They touch your bum!!
The pat down is degrading enough, I'd die of horror if I got a strip search.
