    just...wanted to know what you people think.
    i was reading an artice about them, and letters from fans, and they both had different opinions. what do you think?

    Well I hold the popular belief that it all went wrong at the Black album. Sure bands change and grow. But why'd they have to grow in to this. Now, I've only heard the title track from St. Anger and boy is it bad and too long and too boring.

    And whoever did the production on it should be shot, you can barely hear the guitars, can't hear the bass the only thing that's clear is the vocals and a really annoying tinny snare. You can hear the cymbols and bass drum(singular, no double bass) if you listen real hard.

    and from the reviews I've read they rest of the album follows suit.

    I like Metallica's newer stuff (Black, Load, ReLoad).

    However, I *hate* St. Anger.

    There should be a thread entitled 'St. Anger Is Coming' on here somewhere, which has more detail on that subject.

    well, i think they were much better with stuff like Master of Puppets than St. Anger. It's just really loud drums, really.

    They were once gods ( or at least in my mind ) but now they are losing their touch.

    St. Anger is still good though.:p

    i agree with the majority of what has been said here, by the way.
    The title track off St. Anger is just terrible. its just loud drums, leaving much to be desired.
    its boring, and i think they've kinda sold themselves out.
    and, leave it up to Metallica to give out a secret site with rare music if you buy the cd.
    leaaaave it to them.

    As ive said to a few others;

    It's good... but it aint 'tallica

    some songs are good just by themselves (Frantic, shoot me again, invisible kid)... but being linked with the past image of the band, well... just... no. Lets hope they dont make another.

    as i said, metallica is the best heavy metal band of all times, i prefer their older ****, but the new material is also exelent. i dont understand why so many people turn their backs to saint anger, the album may not sound as the meltallica we are used to, but it´s still metallica!
    youve got to understand that people change and evolve.

    my favorite songs from st anger:

    * Frantic
    * Sweet Amber
    * all whitin my hands
    * st anger
    * shoot me again

    c´mon people, lets support metallica;)

    yeah but just because it's Metallica doesn't automatically make it good. People, especially fans, turned their back on Metallica many years ago when they stop producing excellent thrash records. Now like I said, bands change and go in new directions. Metallica's direction seems to down the mundane and mediocre path. They just don't play exciting or interesting music anymore.

    what? they did nothing wrong. those napster fuks were stealing their records, and not only theirs, but every artist on earth. mp3s are illegal, what kind of fan steals the artist material?

    ark, edit that or i'll mail something poisonous to you...

    i don't mind the old stuff, not a huge fan of it, but i could sing along to it, so i was happy. i do not own any metallica albums, nor do i have any downloaded. i think i have some recorded onto cassette somewhere tho. i heard about 2 minutes of St. Anger the day it came out, and have heard it again(much against my will as it's on an otherwise very good cd sampler we got at the store). i still hold that it's crap in my opinion. i cry a little bit inside each time i sell a copy of the cd(unless i hate that person, then i hope it makes their ears bleed). if there's singing going on, i can't hear it. if there's yelling and screaming in the music, i honestly can not hear it. and i'm known for hearing things.(mainly if it isn't there) all i hear are drums and a garbage can being beaten.

    They really are a kick *** group. But they have grown to be money grabbing ppl. so they are just in it for the cash now. I doubt they barely even think about their music like thay use to. I guess thats just what happens.

    sort of like Aerosmith, but more washed up.

    any way go METALLICA and AEROSMITH, because their music(older) kicks all.

    Hahha wow what a bump... anyway umm since it's up here in the first page now I might as well answer... They were much better in the beginning... Master of Puppets kicks.. but yeah, I dont like the last few albums or so...

    it is not as good as the other ones but it is still a perfectly good cd. i think it has some songs better than on master of the puppets. i enjoyed it. infact i am listening 2 it right now. i think u should all shut up and listen 2 every song and see if u like any of them. it is really an ok cd.

    taken on it's own, st. anger is simple a not-great album, barely average plonk that is released all the time..

    taken as a metallica album, it is a crime and should never have happened :(
