Alright this is my first time in these forums, but not my first time posting. I hope to whomever is reading, that they will consider joining my RP. I'm not a commanding GM and I enjoy feedback on the storyline and also urge the people involved in the RP to feel free to ask me questions or concerns they have. I've had some RP's in the past that were pretty awesome because everyone put a little flavor into the it and it turned out great. Alright enough about me and my past, lets start on a clean slate and make this one kick arse RP!

Story: The RP is set in a world not much from our time. It's set in what you can say a Modern type world. They have radios, televisions, Toilets and all that, but what makes it different is that there are a selected few that are called Ninjas. The world is made up of different countries, each with their own hidden villages where Ninjas are trained. The countries are lead by a Kage, the most powerful Ninja in the village. All ninjas are of different status and they all work for their respective countries, but not all ninjas are good, there are some that are evil, ones that abandon their village and wreck havoc on their own. Ninjas use various weapons, from a simple Kunai to even a broad sword if you choose, and Ninjas can also perform Ninjutsu, sort of like magic. I will go on to some terms other things that will help you understand the RP more.

Chakra-The spirit energy you can say that flows within the human body, ninja are able to focus their chakra and control it to perform Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, or Genjutsu. Kind of like MP for RPG's or Spirit Energy like in Yu Yu Hakasho or like Chi/Ki in DBZ.

Ninja Levels/Status:

Kage-Greatest Ninja in Village, Leader

Jounin-Elite Ninja

Chuunin-Journeymen Ninja

Genin-Beginner Ninja

Ninja Acadamy Student-Ninja in training

Seals-Seals are hand gestures performed to use certain Nin/Genjutsu. They vary from Horse to Monkey.

Jutsus- Taijutsu is like physical fighting Ninjutsu, usually no Seal is used to perform Taijutsu which makes it handy in fast paced situations. Gen/Ninjutsu is like illusionary or Magic jutsu, from Fire Blowing to body switching they vary, Some Jutsu is even Forbidden or banned.

Advanced Bloodlines-There are many clans throughout different villages and some clans have a speciality characteristic/jutsu/abilty that is exclusive to that specific clan that is passed down heredity(sp?) meaning it's passed down to the offspring of the clan. For example, the Uchiha Clan is the only clan that is able to use the Sharingan, a characteristic in the eye that allows it's user to copy other's Jutsu except advanced bloodlines, it also allow's its user to memorize it's opponents movements and attacks.

The site really helps out alot if you have no idea what I'm talking about. But for those who read/watch Naruto then you have a basic idea and it will really help out the RP, but people who have no clue about Naruto are more than welcome to join. If you have a specific question you can PM or ask me and I'll be glad to find an answer for you.

We will all start off in The Hidden Leaf Village, but your character can come from a different country and serve as a foriegn exchange ninja or something, but it'd be better to just stick to Leaf Village. We'll all start off at the Ninja Acadamy as well and we'll move on up the ranks are we progress in the story.


To help you guys and gals out here is my Character Profile, Feel Free to add more subjects in if you so choose.

Name: Jerii Romen

Description: Black spikey hair, wears a leather jacket under a white T-shirt, and black pants. His arms and hands are wrapped in bandages. Tan colored skin and Black eyes.

Signature Weapon(you don't have to have one): A broad sword with a black hilt called the Masamune. Carries it in a sheath that is strapped on his back.

Clan(You can pick an existing clan or make one up, or you don't have to be in one): Romen Clan

Personality: Friendly, and has a strong Heroic attitude, willing to save or help out anyone. He has a strong passion for doing what is right and protecting those precious to him.

Background Story: Jerii is part of the Romen Clan, which only has 4 other members left after an incident long ago, their whereabouts are unknown except for Jerii's. Jerii lives alone in Hidden Leaf Village, not knowing his Birth Mother or Father, but only knowing that he is part of the Great and Noble Romen Clan. Jerii hopes to find the other members of his clan one day and bring back the glory that his clan had long ago. Jerii's only link to his clan is the sword Masamune that was given to him at birth. The sword seems to have some spirits residing in it and often communicates with Jerii telepathically, but they are able to talk out loud if they wish. Jerii works closely with Masamune and hopes to perfect it's true potential. He is currently enrolled in The Ninja Acadamy in Leaf Village. His clumsiness often gets in the way of impressing his teachers and peers. Jerii still has a lot to learn but is willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top.

Name: Kodakero Tzusata

Age: 15 ( its not real! )

Height:....??

Descrpition: Jet blakc hair typed with a white ribbon in a massive ponytail. Wears a white chinese type dress with flowers on the edge and color and the color and bottom in also embroided in blue up to her hips and short white boots with flowers and blue laces, she also has a choker. Asian, black eyes.

Signature Weapon: A bow and arrow. Her most famous attack is the blue lightning strike in which she releases an arrow that travels the speed of light which looks like lightning. No can survive it unless they have an Eternity shield which is hard and rare to come by. She also carries 2 silver daggers in her boots and poison darts. And in her training she uses a huge sword called a Mokedo the acient relect of the Tzusata clan passed from her mother.

Clan: The Tzusata Clan

Personality: She's not a hero but always ends up one. Rather shy in s places with lots of strangers and act like a total idot with her friends. She can be very serious if she wants.

History: The Tzusata clan is considered the richest Clan in all of the Lightning Country. It is said that the secret to there sucess lies with in the Hidden Cloud Village. Kodakero the youngest Daughter of the current leader of the Clan Mitazahare Tzusata (mother) and Nahero tzusata (father). The Tzusata Clan is also known for there there attack in which you can Gain more stamina. It's quite helpful considering to prodouce a Tzusata attack it takes 60 % of your stamina to be transformed into Chakra. The Tzusata attack is called the Tiger Lightning because of it's quick and easy movements. To be able to heal yourslef and have mroe stamina you have to learn the basics of the Tzusata attcks such as Flying! All this and otehr secrets of the Tzsata Clan is written on the sacred scrolls. Kodakero's job is to gaurd it.Kodakero is only a Genin and has a lot to learn, her seal is the Monkey and her genjutsus is the Tidal Clash...(name says it all!). Oneday when the Hidden Cloud Village was attacked, the Scrolls of the Tzusata Clan was stolen and Kodakero's parents were killed. Her older siblings have taken over the Clan but is in Mourning and Kodakero against clan code left in mourning to find and kill who ever have attacked their village. The Bow and Arrow called Mimhu was a gift from her former Ninja teacher who taught her how to use the Mokedo in battle. She is often clumsy and fails to do the simplest thigns right but some how she always comes through.

 

I'll be assisting Jerii on this Naruto RP, as well as partaking in it . We will both primarily manage the NPCing of the essential Naruto figures, such as the Hokage, the teachers, etc. Feel free to ask me or Jerii about the details of the Naruto universe if you have a question.

Name: Sunaba Mamushi

Sex: Male

Age: 14

Home Village: Hidden Sand Village

Clan: Sunaba clan, famous for their use of snake jutsus

Description: A young man dressed in traditional Sunaba clan wear consisting of long, ornate shawls draped around light desert-wear. He has a dark complexion, along with a fiery mane of long orange hair that seem to go along with his deep, crimson eyes.

Signature Weapon: The kusarigama, or chain-sickle. It has many applicable uses as disarming armed enemies, inflicting a short or long range slash, defending, or immobilizing opponents with the long chain.

Personality: Kind, intelligent, and soft-spoken, with a hidden side he is reluctant to show.

Background Story: An enigmatic outsider and participant in this year's Chuunin exams held at the Hidden Leaf Village. His clan and past are shrouded in mystery.

 

Hm, this will be a little difficult to do if there are any RPers there without a basic knowledge of the Naruto series. However, we'll do our best to help you out ^^. I think it would be appropriate to start off with a basic rundown of the world itself:

The world of Naruto takes place in rather modern times, but is found in a land far, far away where wars are waged with fists and blades rather than guns and tanks.
Each of these warring countries formed their own lands of which they were rulers of, but found that they needed protection. Because of this, each country (except for the Wave country) created a respective village of ninjas to serve as their national army. Citizens of these villages are trained from birth to become warriors and assassins, and make a living as mercenaries for hire.
The story of Naruto follows that of several ninjas-in-training at the shinobi academy in the Hidden Leaf Village. Once they surpass basic training, they advance to the role of genin. From genin, the next rank is chuunin--a title that is decided by an annual exam in which shinobis from all the countries gather in a village to participate in; an important event in the actual manga itself, and the basis (I think?) of this RP.

Mika> Your profile is actually quite good; enough for us to work with. Although, the only complication I can see is that we all start in differing countries, which may be kind of tricky to work around. We'll see how this ends up later on.

Brief Explanation of Chakra:
Chakra is the essential vital force of Naruto. In Yu Yu Hakusho, it is called spirit energy; in DBZ, it is ki, so on and so forth. In Naruto, chakra is the basis for which special techniques are performed. To create chakra, a person simply converts his or her physical stamina into chakra. With this chakra, it can be applied in a variety of ways. When a person performs a hand seal (consisting of a combination of horse, tiger, dragon..etc, the chinese zodiac signs), the chakra is spent and creates a technique, allowing someone to do something as breathing fire, or creating clones of yourself. Think magic. This is the basis of ninjitsu (to be further explained). Also, chakra may simply be transfered; one may energize fists, shurikens, etc.

Let us take Mika's thunder arrows as an example. While drawing the arrow in her bow, she uses one hand (although seals are done with two) to perform the seal, which energizes the arrow. Once complete, she releases the bow and the arrow shoots forward in an electrified blaze.

Hm, I'll continue to do mini lectures on the little facets of Naruto-lore. What are you guys interested in, the basic ninja techniques common to all shinobi, weapons, types of ninjitsu..?

 

OOC: As you can see 6pt7 is the "Gai-Sensei"(<--inside joke) of Naruto and I'm only Rock Lee, hence the name. Well ok I'm going to start the RP, and anyone is welcome to join still, people are always welcome to join in any point of the story, we'll just work you in. Remember if you need any questions ask us!

BIC: Jerii let out a big yawn wiping his eyes and shaking his head trying to get himself to wake up. It was the big day today. Jerii couldn't wait to get outside and get on with the day. He grabbed a slice of bread and threw a huge chunk of ham in the air. Jerii grabbed his sword, Masamune and cut the ham into three thin slices, which landed on the slice of bread. Jerii then placed another slice of bread on top of the ham and poured himself a glass of milk. Jerii took a big bite out of his sandwich and drank some milk.

"So today's the day?" A voice called.

"Yep, today is the day the Chuunin Exams begin!" Jerii exclaimed "Aren't you excited Masa?"

"Aren't you going to ask how I feel about it?" Another voice replied.

"Well ok, Masa AND Mune, aren't you guys excited?"

"This is what we've been training for, for what? 20 missions." Masa said.

"Don't worry, we're going to kick some serious butt in the exams" Mune said.

"Thanks you guys, we have to if we want to restore the Romen Clan's original glory." Jerii cried out tears in his eyes.

"Ok, don't get all dramatic on us, you still have a long way to go, and plus there are still Romen Clan members somewhere out there." Masa said.

"How are you so sure they're still alive." Jerii said "And why are they hiding, I mean it'd be great to have someone else that has the same blood flowing through my veins."

"We can sense their spirit weapons, and I have no clue why they would hide, they must be really good at keeping themselves hidden because the signals are very weak, but dont' worry we'll find them." Mune said reassuringly "And who knows they might be in the Chuunin Exams!"

"You're right, thanks you two." Jerii smiled.

Jerii nodded his head and got dressed. He slipped on his leather jacket and placed his Leaf Village Head Protector he got for passing Ninja Academy on his forehead and put on Masamune's sheath across his chest. He then placed his sword in the sheath and bursted out of the door. Jerii began to run towards the Ninja Academy where the exams were being held, hoping the rest of his team was already there.

OOC: Well there you have it, the first post in the RP, Mika I think you're gonna have to make up the rest of your team if no one else decides to come from the Cloud Village, its a 3 man team and you don't have to really focus on your NPC's just have it so that they're there because the Chuunin Exams kind of key in on Teamwork. If you don't want to, I think I can double post a person on your team or maybe 6pt7 wouldn't mind. And to the rest that might join, feel free to, alright that's all for today because I'm only allowed 1 post per day, so later!

 

OOC: Good, we started Alright, well I think the best thing for all newcomers starting from another village is to RP their way to the Leaf Village, where the exams are due to take place. From there, we will start.

BIC:

Out of the horizons on the outskirts of the Fire Country, a stranger enshrouded in shawls approaches, with only a revealing set of sharp eyes underneath the seemingly endless layers of cloth. He has traveled long and far on his perilous journey, finally reaching his destination of the Hidden Leaf Vilalge. Content, he slowly unwraps the garments around his face and looks up at the gigantic fire kanji emblazoned on the enormous wooden gate of the Leaf Village. His scarlet glow and radiant appearance seem to contrast greatly with that of the serene palette of the forest.

His name is Sunaba Mamushi, a mysterious traveler and participant in this year's Chuunin Exams; one of the hundreds of hopeful lower-rank shinobis competing to earn the rightful title of the chuunin. Despite all this adversity, Mamushi seems to approach the village fearless with cold, determined eyes.

Passing through the gates, his destiny begins to unravel.

 

OOC: I HAVE TO HAVE 3 PLAYERS!!!?????? AH, RICKCAKES!!!!!!! (read the rules! )

IC:

"YAY!! TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I MA LATE!" Kodakero shouted.

"No you are 5 hours early..you tried to fix the clock last week..." Mimi said.

Kodakero grabbed the toast , put on her cloth, and tied her hair up ther fastest she can.

"need to go... need to go... NEED TO GO TO TAKE TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " At that Kodakero busted out the front door, literally and raced of to her school house leaving her best friend in the smoke.

"Kodakero!?" Mimi her best friend said. 'YOU FORGOT YOU SWORD!!!"

At that Kodakero raced back to Mimi, jogging in place.

"THANK YOU!' She took it and raced off saying, "IT"S CALLED A MOKEDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"OKAy.......i am lost.......this is big for a village...i think I took a wrong turn at.....HOW CAN I GET LOST IN MY OWN VILLAGE!!?!!?!??!?!" Kodakero pulled out her map and began to read. She started to walk muttering to herself, then walking faster, thenfaster and running and running and raced off. Unknown to Kodakero, she was heading father and father away from the school and more towards the Village gates. Still reading her map Kodakero slammed into some one. Her map was sent flying.

"O...look! flying Ninjas..HEH!!!!!!" Kodakero said in a quizy voice. :glazed: :glazed: "This is just like my favorite manga KENSHIN: The Swirly Eyed Samurai!"

"WE HAVE NO TIME FOR GAMES KODAKERO! WE HAVE TO GO THE VILAGE NOW!!!!" shouted Kunzu the 3rd member of the cloyd village team (right?)
"Village aren't we going to take the test here1!?"

"AH!!!!!! WE HAVE TO GO TO THE LEAF VILLAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Mimi arrived at teh scene! 'Kodakero!........I knew it...you were...lost....again.....you weren't at the dock...to..go.tot eh village!!!!"

'COME ON!! NO TIME TO CHAT WE HAVE TO RUN THERE HURRY!!!!" Kodakero was already way ahead of them being running was her hobby. She raced of and again leaving her freinds in the dust.










OOC: so how was that?????

 

OOC: 6pt7 and I talked about the RP yesterday and we decided that we'll just have one man teams so that we don't have to stress out with 2 other characters to develop. Even though the Chuunin Exams stress Teamwork they are able to be done alone. Alright let's just continue the RP, you don't need to edit your posts, it's fine we'll just start off from where we left off, but just be alone.

BIC: Jerii stopped at the bridge that leads to the Ninja Academy and then took a minute to catch his breath. Jerii then took a deep breath and walked across the bridge towards the Ninja Academy. Jerii walked through the doors and began rushing down the hall into the examination room. Jerii opened the door and took a deep breath.As soon as Jerii got in he noticed that the place was crowded with hopefull Genins hoping to pass this year's exams. Jerii couldn't believe the number of people there, he's never seen so many different ninjas gather in one place.

"By the looks of things, the competition doesn't look so bad" Masa said.

Jerii looked around to search for a familar face in the crowd. He caught a glimpse of a blonde haired ninja causing a commotion off to the side.

"I think that's that Naruto guy." Jerii said.

"He sounds like a show-off, he's probably just a big push over." Mune grunted

"Well looks can be decieving" Jerii replied.

He then turned to see a man with black spikey hair in a blue shirt. He had a strange presence around him and it seemed that he would take nothing from no one.

"Wonder who that is?" Jerii thought.

"He looks like a tough opponent," Masa said "We better look out for that one."

Jerii folded his arms and awaited for the doors to be open and the test to begin.

 

OOC: My account got siabled and i got a new one! This is Cardcaptormika2 speaking..though my names is candycane23! HEHE!!!

IC:

kodakero stopped and looked back for her friends when she reached the double doors of the Leaf village gates, unknown to her Mimi and Kunzu took the boat leaving for the viallge and arrived her hours ago. The test was just beginning and Kodakero busted through the doors literally.. (maybe that can also be her speacailty! DOOR BUSTER ATTACK!).

The room was crowded and Naruto the person witht eh KICK ME! I AM AN IDOIT sign seemed to be an attraction.

She soon spotted Mimi and Kunzu looking at the competition. "GUYS!!!!" Kodakero called. "OVER HERE!!"

They looked and saw her. "That Naruto guy over there is getting his butt kicked...poor guy....who ever put that sign on him must really think he's a loser!" Kunzu said.

"Yep!" Mimi agreed.

"So hows the competeion!?" Kodakero asked.

"They certainly aren't push overs!" Mimi replied.

"Look at that guy with the blue shirt..he looks pretty tough." Kunzu said.

'DON'T WORRY!!!!!IT'S NOTHING KODAKERO CAN"T HANDLE!!!!!!!"

 

ooc: I'll be posting a character sheet and will be joining asap. Sorry for the delay please still allow me to rp when i get the thing in.

 

OOC: Mika, no need to worry about the 3-man teams; you can have Mimi and Kinzu wish you good luck or something before you take the test..this will reduce complications in RPing ^^ Ultimately during the test, the people RPing will form their own teams.

BTW, I didn't have a chance to post yesterday, hope I can post again today... ^^*

BIC:

Upon opening the door of the Shinobi Academy where all the candidates congregated, the atmosphere of the situation suddenly turned a whole lot tenser. Mamushi was greeted by the surly looks of dozens of chuunin hopefuls, all from varying villages.

"This indeed will be an interesting year," Mamushi said to himself with a slight nervousness and excitement. :shy3:

Stepping his way through the masses, he bumped himself a couple times across some especially mean looking genins from the sound village, who returned his innocent gestures with a snarl. 'Hm,' he thought, 'I best take care of those fellows in the future.'

Positioning himself along the front rows, he found himself situated between more likeable genins--two leaf genins, who were Naruto (a foxlike trickster with a heart of gold) and Jerii (one of the last remaining survivors of the Romen clan). Just as he was about to speak, he was quickly interrupted by a provoking shove from the sound genin whom he accidentally bumped into moments before.

"Hey," he growled, "why don't you watch where you're going?"
"I, I'm terribly sorry" Mamushi apologized.
"Heh sorry ain't gonna cut it this time!"

With those words, the genin pulled aside his sleeves and revealed sound pipes embeded in his palms. A menacing hum begain to emit from them. Mamushi drew back cautiously; Naruto took notice, and looked in anticipation.

"Hey you idiot!" Naruto squawked. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size!"
"Like you?" the sound genin said, turning his attention to Naruto. With this, the sound genin braced himself and pointed his palms towards Naruto, and let loose a blast of sound waves sending Naruto flying to the wall. He was knocked out, with a dazed expression :glazed:.
"Now it's your turn.." he said ominously, turning back to Mamushi.

Nervously, Mamushi took a defensive stance, and waited for his next move.


OOC: Someone jump in, we're just buying time for more people to join until the exams start

 

ooc: I'll post a character sheet later.

BIC: Athena saw the bully and said, "Hey leave him alone you creep! You know if you get caught fighting again you'll get thrown out." Then she got right up in his face and said, "Besides, do you really want a repeat of last time we fought. I don't like beating you up." Then she glared at the bully daring him to try to hurt someone else.

IC: BOOM!! Naruto hit the wall.

"HEY! They are fighting! Come one! We have to do something!" Kodakero picked up her sword and rushed over to the crowd

Mimi shrugged and folowed so did Kunzu.

"Excuse me! Pardon me! Sorry!" Kodakero pushed through the crowd.

A oranged haired boy was standing in a fighting stance and a sound ninja was his opponent.

Another ninja was glaring at the bully.

'HEY! Stop! yo can't just go and fight when and where ever you want!" Kodakero stepped intot he ring formed by the crowd.

"Who are you!?" The bully turned to Kodakero. So did everyone else.

"None of your beeswax who I am!" Kodakero got serious, 'Stop bullying him and Naruto!"

"Naruto!? That idoit!?"

"What ever he might be.....I am going to help him!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kodakero charged towards the bully at lightning fast speed.

He released another sound wave. Kodakero's blade relfected it.

"ARGH!!" The bully seemed annoyed.

Kodakero grinned.

"NOW FOR THE BIG FINISH!!!" The bully shouted. He released a huge wave towards Kodakero.

Kodakero froze.

BIC: Jerii glanced behind him upon hearing all the commotion caused in just a couple of minutes.

"A fight already?" Jerii thought "The exams haven't even started yet."

"It seems like genins from the sound village," Masa said "They are just a newly formed Hidden Village, very deadly."

"That's not right picking a fight and all, especially since we're here to take the Chuunin Exam." Jerii said.

"Well less talk and more action!"Mune exclaimed.

Jerii nodded his head and pulled out Masamune and began to dash towards the fighters. He bursted through the crowd and noticed that a girl seemed to by hypnotized by the sound ninja's waves. Jerii leaped in front of her and smiled giving her a thumbs up.

"Don't worry I'll protect you." Jerii said.

The wave collided into Jerii and Jerii dug his feet on the ground. He began to slide back slightly and then stopped.

"Phew, thought I was gonna get blown away." Jerii said wiping sweat from his forehead.

He then ran forward not noticing the small dent he made on the ground. Jerii tripped over the little hole and fell to the ground.

"Smooth..." Masa and Mune said in unison

Jerii's face began to glow red and he stumbled to his feet trying to regain his posture. Jerii turned around and smiled back at the girl again, hoping she wouldn't notice.

"I looked like a complete idiot." Jerii thought.

"Heads up," Mune replied

Jerii looked up noticing the sound genin took flight and was about to go for a frontal attack. Jerii got ready in a defensive stance and as the genin collided with Jerii he parryed off his punch and kicked him back.

"I don't know if I should use ninjutsu or not." Jerii thought "I mean I'd be wasting chakra."

"You can always get it back later," Masa said "It's not like you lose it forever."

Jerii smiled "Well if you say its ok."

Jerii then put his hands together still holding Masamune, forming the seal of The Monkey, then Rat, then Tiger.

"Burning Blade no jutsu." Jerii exclaimed.

Masamune was engulfed in flames and Jerii smiled.

"Time to heat things up." Jerii snickered.

BIC: Athena sighed and said, "It seems it was a mistake in coming here, perhaps i should have stayed home and learned more about healing."
Athena then sighed again and began to make her way out of the room.

ooc: Someone can stop me or not..... i'll bring her back before the exam starts. Don't know how but i will.

BIC: Jerii narrowed his eyes getting ready to make his move until he noticed that the other lady partcipating in the brawl was going to leave.

"Is she really quitting," Jerii thought.

"Reminds me of you back then," Masa said.

Jerii stopped the jutsu and Masamune returned to normal. Jerii put Masamune in it's sheath and then jogged over to the girl leaving the exams.

"Hey wait up, don't leave." Jerii said.

He didn't think he would physically grab her and stop her like that, because that would be rude in his terms. Jerii ran up and got in her way instead.

"The fun hasn't even started yet," Jerii smiled "Come on don't give up I mean we haven't even started the exams."

Jerii smiled trying to cheer her up.

"Just give it another shot." Jerii smiled extending his hand for a handshake.

"The name's Jerii Romen." Jerii said.

"What a pick up line..." Mune said "If you'd ask me I'd give you the perfect pick up line she'd be all over you."

"Shut up." Jerii said telepathically "I'm just trying to lighten up the mood and besides I hate to see people just quit when they haven't even given it their all."

"Alright, lets hope she doesn't break your neck for stopping her." Masa laughed

Jerii stood there hoping that the lady would return her handshake.
