RahXephon Rahxephon

RahXephon is one of my favorite series!! Its story line somewhat resembles Neon Genesis Evagelion.
What attracts me to the anime is the mysterious characters that have a hidden past like the doctor Itsukai, Kamina, Commander Jin ... heck! All of the characters have something mysterious about them

I just want to know if someone have seen this series, because I have noticed some weird things ..:dizzy2:

 

I've seen the first three episodes. I've already got a theory about Mishima Reika, but I think I will be wrong.

And I could talk about things that perplex me, but I fear to include spoilers (eh- what am I talking about! Spoilers in the first three episodes?!) but it would be good if I could reason some of these things out.

 

I've seen quite a bit of Rahxephon but I don't want to do any inadvertent spoilers either!

It is sometimes laughably Evangelion-like but I actually like this series, despite the fact that it causes mass walk-outs at our anime club!

 

Ok here is something that I noticed in episode 2. When Kamina Ayato was with Mishima near the swimming pool, Ayato had a reflection in the water but Mishima didn't. Which really confuses me, because if Mishima doesnt really exists and is apart of Ayato's imagination then how did Ayato's friends talk to her Acck !!
Why did she say to Ayato that they are the same person ?! =s Its very complicated

 

They acted like they didn't even know Mishima existed until she walked in. My theory is - when she 'walked in' she made them believe in her existence at least long enough to make it convincing for Ayato. As for the second bit, telling Ayato they were the same person, I don't know if I've heard that yet - the fansub I have may have translated it differently. But I've got a guess on that one too.

 

After seeing episode 17, it doubled my confussion about the "Mishima-case"

Ayato: By the way, has anyone said anything about Mishima being gone
Asahina: Mishima?
Ayato: Reika. Mishima Reika
Guy: Who is that?
Ayato: Its okay. Nevermind
Asahina: Mishima. See see! I feel like Im forgetting something important! I've heard that name before!
Guy: Hirok, cut it out!

Ok here is another thing thats also confusing! The color of the blood Murians (people that live in Tokyo Jupiter) have blue blood. In the beginning of the series, Ayato had red blood, but in episode 14 where he overheard Lieutenant Yagumo and Elvy's conversation. He discovered that he is a murian. Then explain this to me, in episode 17 he had red blood when he returned to Tokyo Jupiter and his 'mother' had blue blood?

 

Vash ain't kidding about the mass walk outs! Even the projector gave up last week and froze in the start of the opening sequence from over heating!

I think Rahxephon is pretty good and it tries damn hard to get out of the shadow of Evangelion! I hope this will be the last time Evangelion is used to compare with Rahxephon but I doubt that would ever happen!

Shitow Haruka
- Her real name is Haruka Mishima
-She was once married to Ayato (episode 13)
-29 yrs old
-She is from Tokyo Jupiter
- (ep 26) In the new world, Haruka is married to Ayato and they had a daughter named Quon

- She first meets Ayato when her uncle game to investigate the ruins with Ayato's father (the guy with the eyepatch)



Maya Kamina
- Ayato's mother
-General Commander of the MU-controlling Tokyo Jupiter Government
-She created Ayato (she is not his biological mother)
- She erased his memories about Haruka so that she would only be the one that would love him !!


Kisaragi Itsuki
-He had a relationship with Haruka
- He is a clone like Helena and Makato (ep 15)
-Type B (Im not sure what they mean by that but I guess they could pilot the Dolems)
- Ayato is Itsuki's elder twin [meaning that he is a clone of Ayato](ep21)

Shitow Megumi
- Haruka's sister
-She was a traniee in the beginning of the series
-had a crush on Souichi
- In ep 16, she discovers that Soucichi is Kim's boyfriend
-In the end of ep 16, she left a voice message on Ayato's phone telling the news that she is no longer a traniee and she loves him ^_^ however, Ayato didnt recieve the message when he and Quon escaped to Tokyo Jupiter



Kisaragi Quon
-first human specimen
-She was born in 2011 on Nirai Island
- In December 29, 2013 she moves to Sendai (2 years old)
- In 2019, her parents died and a relative took her into his custody (8)
-In 2022, she lives with her brother Itsuki (11)
-2027, She cooperates in mission overload(16)
-According to Quon's flashbacks in episode 13.
-She woke up in a room and saw Ernest was sitting next to her bed
-She woke up in a hospital and saw Kori and another woman talking to each other
- She woke up and saw Maya(Ayato's mother) crying
- She is Maya's sister
- She is the final villain of the story that Ayato has to fight

Mishima Reika
-She told ayato "i am you"
-She is also referred to as "Ishitori"
-In episode 20, she appeared again but as a new personnel in Terra. Her name is "Haruka"
- Notice Haruka Shitow's expression when she first saw "Haruka"(Mishima)

Elvy Hadhiyat
-Drinks alot of Alcohol
- First Pilot to pilot the Vermillion
- Donnie liked her
- She dies in ep 25

Kunugi Jin
-Commanding Officer
-His daughter was killed and his wife blames him for it!
-Makoto have taken over his job after Ayato returned to Tokyo Jupiter
-Dies in ep 23
- He named the blue bird after his daughter

Ishiki Makoto
- The one that has white hair and who is also called "white snake"
- type D (has very good hearing ability - like Ayato)
-Seems to be like Mishima by having him sing to navigate the Dolem, which means that he might be a Murian
-He is 'interested' in Itsuki
-It seems that there are more clones of Ishiki
- Dies in episode 25 by trying to kill Ernest for calling him a "D"

Yagumo Souichi
- Ranking officer
-Kim's boyfriend
-Megumi's crush
- He dies in episode 25

Kim Hotal
- The girl with the short hair
-Parents died in Australia from a dolem attack
- Souichi's Girlfriend
- Gets pregnant
- She tried killing Ayato in Episode 25 because she blames him for the death of Souichi

Asahina Hiroko
-The girl that first appeared with Ayato in the first episode
- She is Mamoru's girlfriend
-Dies in episode 19 (killed by Ayato who was trying to protect her)
-She loves ayato
- She is from Tokyo Jupiter

-He was Asahina's boyfriend
-He dies in episode 25 while fighting Ayato to take vengence for Asahina death

-In the end of episode 16, when he was talking to Haruka's uncle. Kori was talking about not telling Ayato "something" I have a feeling that "something" is him being his father!!

-Leader of the Narcal company which was founded in the year 1574
- His company supports Terra
-All the leaders of the same company have the same name and face
-He used Helena's bodies to live for thousands of years

Helena Barbem
- Ernest's niece
- She is also a clone(like Makato and Itsuki)

In the end, the world been wipped out by the white light from Rahxephon. Now the world have gone back in time with a world that has not been touched by the evil schemes of Ernest.

 

Personally...I have to say it, but it's like RahXephon to me is like exactly like Neon Genesis Evangelion! (...Well not exactly, but close!)

Like I've only seen I think 6 episodes, and well like he gets a robot(Sorry I can't remmeber what they are called....Lol, i'm bad with Japanese names) when he doesn't even want it, like Ikari from Eva. He has to fight other robots that come and destroy his world. There are other children he has to get along with, like Ikari in Eva, there are lots of simularities.

 

When I was first watching Rahxephon and ppl asked me what was it like. I told them that it similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion. OK lets start comparing:
-Rahxephon that Ayato pilots is similar to the Mecha that Shinji pilots
-The Dolems are also similar to the angels that appear in every episode.
- About all the characters are at the same age (eva: Shinji. Rei and Misato are 14) (RX: Ayato, Asahina, Mamarou and Quon are 17)
- First episode has an enavsion or an attack by another specie
- There is more than 1 tokyo (Eva: tokyo1,2,3) (Rahxephon: Tokyo and Tokyo Jupiter)

-I have read that the last angel was friend (having a human form). The last villain Ayato fought was Quon(his friend)
- The main character establishing a relationship with someone older from him (Shinji -Misato) (Ayato - Haruka)

I love this show. Call it evanxephon, I don't care. I love it, and dissention will not be tolerated I watched episodes 11 - 26 in one sitting hehe

I've been watching this series for months and months.. I saw ep one back in April. It's been so frustrating having no one to talk to about it: no one else has seen it, no one I know online etc. Finally, here at m2a of all places, there is a load of people who have. Sure took long enough though..

Speaking of confusion about the color of blood.. what the heck is up with Asahina? In eps past 17 she has blue blood, yet in the first episode, we distinctly saw that it was red (remeber? some got on Ayato's hand) So it seems to have changed color in the meantime. I'm still trying to come to grips with what it means to be Murian.

Ep 26 did a lot to clear and muddle the situation with Mishima..

*****massive (last episode, last scene really) spoiler****
I mean, we find out that Ayato met a Mishima Haruka years ago (before Haruka's name changed to Shitow), so it seems Mishima IS Haruka at a younger age. What is confusing then is what she is doing in Tokyo Jupiter with Ayato at the beginning of the series! I'd say she's a residual memory Ayato has of Haruka, but Asahina and Mamoru interact with her too.

Then, if you read the Manga, it gets even worse. Haruka comes in and saves Ayato from the men in black, but not just him, she saves Reika too (MIB says "disposing of Ishtori, as planned. Dont hate me, it's my job" [eva anyone? lol]) There they both are, Haruka and Reika right next to each other.

In the anime, this argument could work:

, but in the manga, everyone quite clearly knows her, from Mamoru and Asahina to Maya. Reika and Ayato have known each other for a long time etc. That and the business with her and Haruka being side by side.. I'm really lost.

It's hard for me to understand how Mishima is Haruka if you see them both at the same time.. Thoughts anyone? I'd love some insight.

I am still confused on the whole concept of the blood color. Take Ayato for an example, in episode 4 where they were extracting blood from him. The blood color was red, which meant that he is a human. Later in the series when he finds out that he is a murian, because he reached the age of 17 which means that he is udergoing the MU phase. So to answer your question about Asahina, she may have been a human in the beginning of the series, but as she turned 17 and became a murian

About the Mishima (aka Ishitori) and Haruka case, I cannot explain it except that Ishitori is Xephon's soul. She awaits for orin to wish for her so that she would help orin become Yoretworter. She has taken the form of younger Haruka to make it easier for her to get close to Ayato. So if you noticed, she never appears at the same time as Haruka. Except for the few episodes when she became the newest member of Terra, but she was under a different name. She keeps manipulating people like Asahina, Mamoru and Makoto to keep her mind control on Ayato. I maybe be totally wrong about it though....

About asahina turning 17 and becoming a Murian, I guess so. But why doesn't Ayato's blood turn blue? In ep 17 it is still red.. arghh

But your explanation about ishtori makes perfect sense, in the anime anyway It's a very good explanation, I think she did take younger Haruka's form to get Ayato to trust her.

The problem I have is with the manga, where in the beginning, she does appear at the same time as Haruka, and everyone interacts with her. See the attatchment

I've seen the whole series after stressful days of waiting for it to be completely downloaded

MO about the picture I do not have an explanation except that it may have been a flaw.

Anyway, about Ayato having red blood in episode 17 he may still be in the MU phase. He still didnt turn into a Murian, because the episodes before that we didn't see Ayato's blood. Therefore, we cant speculate that his blood's color changed.

Im just confused about one thing and that is the ending. After the Rahxephon emitted white light. I thought after seeing the scene where Ayato and Haruka are married and have a child, that Rahxephon have changed the world to what it should be without the interference of Ernest. Could anyone explain what happened?

Oh well, I really like RahXePhon, but I am quite lacking in the dvds so far, I really need to get the next few ><.

And isn't the movie just gonna be the series, only a lot shorter(that's what I read somewhere).

I've got a file called RahXephon OVA - Interlude [Solar].avi dunno what it is exactly. From what I've heard I don't think it's the movie, which I am still looking forward to very much. YK has it on DVD apparently (raw) but he's not sharing. Maybe if I was in the same state LOL
