If anyone wants to reply to that, take it to PM, or open a new thread. Let's keep this a little on-topic, folx.

we're actually quite large you know...
why do people keep refering to them as 'endangered'? they're damn extinct.! have been for a while now.
should stay that way. i've got no problems with cloning to save an endangered species, but i've got one with bringing one back from extinction. i just think it's stupid. the only reason they're trying to revive them is cause they're an icon. what about all the other species? if they bring them back there will be nothing but problems. have they really thought about why they're extinct?. They're both a pest and hunted. If they bring them back people will hunt them ever more. imagine how much the fur would sell for in some countries. We've got some bright sparks over here, but they should spend their time on a more worthwhile purpose like stemcell research or helping our other native animals that we're killing off over here.

Technically, they're not really all that extinct considering as the first post said that they had found a pup, if I'm not mistaken. Though using your logic, really, could just say that, hell, why bother doing anything about it when someone gets killed and there's a nasty little rumor floating around about them. Though really, as it was said, they were BELIEVED to be a "pest" and, as it was said, were hunted because of their appearance (IE the jaws). All in all, you're making it sound as if you have something against these little critters. :p

Edit: Ahh, my bad, missed out on that part, heh. Sorry bout that.

A *PICKLED* pup. They found it in a jar. ._. It's long dead but the DNA is still intact.

If this 'playing God' facet is the major argument for the opposition, then we should ignore them altogether and let the people clone. I'm not even going to bother to refute this 'we humans have no right over other animals' lives' assertion because it's little more than hypocrisy and I don't think it is worthy of any genuine, profound analysis.

Although i believe that cloning the tasmanian Tiger would be good I think we should be looking into correcting the future then correcting the past. I mean we have giant holes in the O zone layer, acid rain and a couple astroids that may hit the earth within the next decade and were putting attention on cloning an animal that's been dead for 100 years and no ones cared till now. That's a bit stupid.:dizzy2: :glazed:

I would think that these creatures have gotten enough recognition over the time or else the idea of cloning them probably wouldn't have come up. And, technically, cloning this animals IS doing something for the future... not as if when we clone them they'll go back in time. :p Though there are other things to worry about, I'm sure there's just as many people working on some of the things you mentioned. After all, if I'm not mistaken, we're just talking about Australia here.

But if these things worry you so much, maybe start a position to stop the production of many-a-life's things that we don't really "need" to dedicate more money to such research. Hell, let's get rid of video games, books, computers, televisions, radios, telephones, so on and so forth. Who needs a more realistic video game, when there's a hole in the Ozone layer! :)

As a matter of fact last school year we were learning about the Ozone. And i did a project. . . .There are Many people working on that problem. Even the US government. But there was somthing i read somewhere that says if we keep moving at the pace we are now the Ozoe will heal itself in 20 years, cuz polution has been cut in half since the 70s.

And about the Astroids NASA had been planning for somthing like that for years. They have many different methods of protecting us, from blowing it up to moving it around our planet, or even stop it in its tracks and make it go into orbit. Tazmanian tigers are just one of the many things that people are working on. It is just probably somthing that we are closer to acheaving.:D What wronge with doing more than one thing? MULTITASKING!!

Clone the mother****ers, and lets hope they do turn into unstoppable monsters and kill everyone...

Okay not that far, but I think as a humans who now feel guilt for the past deeds of our ignorant and very very ****ing stupid ancestors, we have a obligation to bring these creature back (or at least bring their population numbers back in the millions)
Playing God, that's just some ****ing phrase the catholic bishop and the popes uses to not admit their wrong doings in the past, so is the no clone crap. And besides, when ever someone kill another in a battle, are they not playing god?

    Tasmanian Tiger

if they are able to clone sheep and horses ,i don't see why they can't clone the tasmanian tiger. because if they did they might be able to help other species form dying out.
