Recreation Space Shuttle disintegrates

I also heard on the radio that people were auctioning off pieces of the shuttle on ebay. They were hoaxes, of course, but how disrespectful can you get?!

It is sad
Especially when they were running the tape over and over you could see peices of debrie falling.....it seamed like the feul tank was really pulling it down. Its just sad watching it though,especially if you had been watching it live ya know....its like you knew there was absolutly nothing you could do to stop it....just wait for it to hit.

 

I just hope they went quickly but theres a chance they may have survived for two minutes... which would be hellish, of course...

 

Well, at least they died doing something they loved... how many people get to have that said for them?

Personally, I'd much rather die in a blaze of glory than slowly over 20 years hooked up to life support.. Not that it makes what happened less tragic.

Maybe I'm getting waaaay too obscure here, but this event reminds me of the second to last scene in Koyaanisqatsi, a little-known movie that was made in 1983. The scene depicts a rocket lifting off and then exploding . . . the remainder of the scene focuses on one piece of the fuselage twirling as it falls, and the footage gradually slows down as the piece of the rocket spins and falls through the air and the vocals in the music continue to chant "Koyaanisqatsi," which is a term in the Hopi language that means "Life out of balance," or something along those terms.

If anybody knows what I'm talking about, they get an innumerable amount of cookies.
