You could always check used games stores, or Ebay. If you can, get the Commanders Pack, because that comes with the expansions, which are very much worth the while. Or failing that, get them burned, because its not like they're making more copies. Poor Cavedog. :(

As for satisfaction, one of the best feelings of that I've ever had is when my base was being stormed. They'd made it to the third and final defense line, which was slowly being whittled away by the roughly 100 units they were storming with.

    Suddenly...

    WHIIRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

The Krogoth, which is basically a huge monster of a robot, was complete. These things are extremely expensive and take many minutes to build but they're very much worth it.

I sent the Krogoth out, BY ITSELF, to destroy the invaders.

After it did that, I had it beeline straight to the enemy base.

While the defenses did succeed in taking it out, a big hole in their defenses was made by the resulting explosion, which then let me send bombers in after their Commander.

Who happened to be standing next to some fusion plants.

The Commander pretty much destroys anything next to him when he explodes. And fusion plants make huge explosions when they are destroyed.

Not only was all his power generation capability gone now, but he had lost his Commander -and- more than a third of his base in collateral damage.

He managed to rebuild, of course, since my base was hurting pretty bad, but he just didn't have the speed for it and was crushed beneath the treads of my tank brigades. :)

Oh, and I will warn you: these games can go for a long time. Since defenses actually work well and resources don't work in a way that runs the risk of depleting them, two experienced players can play for several hours straight. One time my friend and I had a game that went for nearly 6 hours.

The mere scale of these battles sound awesome, too bad I've already spent my quota of entertainment money on Pokemon Advance and the Gasaraki Perfect Collection...

Well, its not that expensive, really. The few stores I've seen carrying it put a price of 15 bucks Canadian on it.:)

And the scale is -huge-. A max of 200 units for each army, not counting defensive structures and such. While some of it is occupied by construction bots, it isnt that much.

And when I say 200 units, I mean 200 -units-. Theres no silly 'food' requirement forcing you to choose between 8 marines or a battlecruiser.

Best of all there are fan-made patches that upgrade the max to 500 and up.

Best of all, when you destroy a unit or building, the remains dont vanish after a few seconds. The wreckage stays there until it gets caught in crossfire or recycled.

Nukes are also present in the game, and actually do a good chunk of damage (unlike SC nukes, which suck), but there are good counters for them. I remember one time another friend of mine and I were playing on a map of Earth (complete with oceans) and oddly enough, our halves (I had the Americas and part of Europe) ended up lobbing nukes at each other (he had the middle east and Africa) :p

    7 opponents! You're a masochist!;)

Actually it plays surprisingly well. Valunthar and I play it every so often and back when he was on 56k it seemed to go alright. Course it was only me, him and another friend who isnt on the forum, but still..
