I got this information from here:

    http://inuyasha-info.virtue.nu/qa.html

i'm not saying this information is completly true, but i've been to this site a lot and it has provided me with a lot of TRUE info on InuYasha. Plz, tell me what your opinion is on this.

    Q. When does InuYasha Manga series complete ?

    A. It has been said that the last story would appear in Volume 38 or 39, that is, in Chapters 380 to 390, because of the two reasons:

    1) When Volume 20 was published, Takahashi said that half the story had already ended.
    2) InuYasha has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Almost all the completed manga series in Weekly Shonen Sunday have not exceeded Chapter 400.

If they were true, InuYasha would finish in 2004 because Chapter 390 is to appear this year.Since the two series, Detective Conan and Major, have recently exceeded Volume 40 for the first time, InuYasha may exceed Volume 40 as well. But even if so, It is not supposed that the last chapter exceed chapter 430.

    Q. How long does InuYasha TV Anime series continue?

    A. Unlike animes that consist only of 13 or 26 episodes, animes broadcasted in Prime Time (7:00 pm through 11:00 pm) such as InuYasha, continue to be aired for some years. For example, Detective Conan, which is a very popular anime and the next program to InuYasha, namely aired 7:30 pm through 7:59 pm every Monday, has continued since 1996, and 344 episodes are shown until December 8, 2003. However, if the following cases were to occur, the anime would finish:

    1) The average viewer rating becomes lower than about 9%. Many animes (Ranma, Urusei-Yatsura, etc.) were made to end due to this case. That of InuYasha fortunately keeps over 10% (See this page on Yomiuri TV).
    2) Although a manga on which a anime is based has not finished yet, the anime catches up with the manga and it is impossible or difficult to make its filler stories. This case has taken place very often; for example Hunter x Hunter, Kodomo no Omocha, etc.
    3) A manga on which a anime is based has already finished and the anime also catches up with its last episode. A few anime finished due to the case; for example, Maison Ikkoku, Dragon Ball Z, etc.

InuYasha has not met with case 1 or 2. According to that the manga seems to complete by fall of 2005, and anime episodes have generally been aired about ten months later the corresponding Manga Chapters were shown on the magazine, it is a reasonable forecast that the last episode is aired in 2005 or 2006.

it seems that this would be talking about the episodes airing in japan. in the us, inuyasha could very well be running for a few more years, the latest manga to come out here isn't even in the twenties range yet.

yea, i know. but a lot of people are watching it as soon as they air in Japan and get subtitled. like me :anime: and yea, the people who are watching it dubbed have nothing to worry about InuYasha ending anytime soon...the dubbed is at some episode in the early 50's. while in Japan they're at episode 148. ahh, I just have to add that episode 147 and 148 made me cry!!!!!

you should care at least a little bit, cause that's what the series is based on. The InuYasha TV series is based on the manga. It takes approx. ten months for an InuYasha manga to become an episode. If there was no manga, InuYasha wouldn't be what it's like today! yay, mangas!

I agree. You have to have adleast a LITTLE amount of love for the manga's. I, myself, love them, though I do find the episodes to be more funny, easier to catch on to, and when the characters fight....IT ROCKS!!! ^^ lol

heh, yea. we have demanding people from where i live at i guess. my library got 2 mangas at first, and loads of people wanted it, so the library bought lots more other mangas from other series. we have a whole section of mangas, yay. i like the Ranma ones. sadly, they got a lot of astro boy ones...err....not much of an astro fan:( they need more than just 3 InuYasha ones...grr.

i want to own the InuYasha mangas, but right now i'm DEAD poor, and i need to save up for the Anime North convention in Toronto next month. Maybe i'll just wait for the price of the mangas to go down a bit:p geez, i'm cheap. I'll keep checking Ebay for cheap ones:)

And which country would that be? I know they sell it translated in the US (unfortunately, it's flipped so some things are odd), and with the internet and online shopping, you don't have to live in the US to buy things from there.

I think some people miss the point of the inu series.
I want inayasha to end in a way that satisfy all of us and at the same time why does the series has to drag so long to reach the end of it.
Cmon people seriously I want to be alive to see the end.
I already saw the 145 epi and believe me I dont' like the idea of waiting 2 more years or who knows how much longer .

I agree with some of this. I think most people don't want it to end. I do want to see how it ends but unlike Sailor Moon there won't be a chance of having more episodes. Once IY is done it is done. It will be sad to see IY end. As far as how long it goes who knows. There is atleast 350 chapters out now and they are atleast on volume 36. The anime is up to episode 148. I watch IY by subtitles. It will suck when it is doen but atleast I can watch the whole series over again.

I think the only way it will end is if it loses fanbase. Hopefully it won't.

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. Of course I want Inuyasha to end, if it doesn't then it's going to be another god-awful Dragonball Z series that stretches to the 500th episode. I'd probably get turned off Inuyasha in a heartbeat if it ever became like that, but at the same time, I'm going to be really sad when it ends. I've been basing my entire life around Inuyasha for awhile now, and I think I'll feel a bit like a chunk of me is missing when it finally DOES end. What Basher said is more of what I was trying to say: when it ends, there will be no more. I don't want Inuyasha to never end, but I don't want to have to watch the last episode and know it's over for good.

It's also been rumored that the Inuyasha anime series will be airing its final episode in September of this year. Of course, it'll take awhile to get to us Americans, but knowing the internet, half of us will probably end up being bombarded with ending spoilers every site we go to, so I really don't think I'll trust the internet until I see the ending myself. I want to be surprised. ^_^

    that rumor hurts me so...

Although most people are saying it would end in Septemper, some people are questioning it because since there's an IY movie coming out December that the show would at least stay until March 2005 because lineups of Japanese prime-time programs are changed every half year.

I hope it doesn't end in September though:( it would make the new school year so lonesome for me *cries in corner*
