Keep in mind MO, I consider believing in any deity is like believing in the Bogeyman, and not having sex because of your belief in this invisible uber-creature is like being a vegetarian because you've been told someone will kill you if you eat meat. Religion is used to round up the easily frightened and keep them in check. Celibacy is fine as a moral objection, if you believe that sex is not worth the extra baggage that comes with it, such as responsibility and the sharing of your emotions with another, but celibacy because someone told you "sex is bad, because you go to a bad place if you have sex" (circular reasoning, religion excels at it) is dense. reeeeeally dense.
Even with everyone raving about how good it is, there is no curiosity? And their's risk involved in everything. Playing it safe doesn't seem worth it to me. Live while you have life(I just came up wit that one, sounds kinda cool I think ). But that's just me. But what ever floats your boat. I'm just into trying new things

Well, *everyone* isn't raving about how good it is. not even that many people I know. The Hollywood Media Machine would have you believe that. well, I'm not that gullible. The HMM (hollywood media machine) would also have you believe that you really are having fun when you're drunk, everything would be great if everyone looked like models, and all you need to have 'fun' is spend a lot of money. I'm not curious about sex, I know I'll do it, when I get married, and no sooner. I have my reasons. Honestly, I am religious. Do you think I'm easily frightened? You'd be dead wrong in such a presumption. There are plenty of well informed, intelligent people who believe. Einstein was. But enough religion discussion. Back to the subject at hand. I once abstained from sex because of religion, now I do because it is *my* opinion. Question me on this if you're dumb enough not to believe that I speak my true opinions. I'm only objecting to bigoted thought here, the number one fear of mankind is the fear of the unknown. Men often lash out against their fears in a lamentable attempt to seem strong. This leads to War, Oppression, and other bad things. On a final note about happiness. One man's trash is another man's Treasure. By extension, see the assumptions at the top. Jesus dude no one was attacking you. Chill out. I gave my opinion you gave yours. I don't see a problem here. I wasn't pressuming anything about you. If you will forgive the observation you seem to be presuming a lot about me. I accept your opinion, I wasn't trying to change it. And being drunk can be fun*don't hit me*. Just my opinion. And it's not just hollywood that's saying sex is great. It's the majority of people who have had it. Except a lot of Germans apparently(eh I read it in a survey). Guess I forgot to slap my 'nothing personal' note on there. I'm not attacking you, I'm more reacting to a wider spread. I have no problem with anybody here, yet. Hypocrisy of any kind does suck. All I'm saying is that some people really are honest about the morals they profess. I'm just trying to convey why someone would be proud of being a virgin. Not trying to get you to say that they are right, just trying to help you at least understand why they think they are. Believe it or not, they are not acting completely irrationally. They have reasons, and I am only trying to articulate them. Really short from their point of view: 1: sex before marriage is wrong 2: it is fun/popular 3: therefore it is tempting/hard to avoid 4: since they succeeded in that difficult task, they are proud of themselves, as would be a mountain climber who climbed a high mountain. Legato, this is assuming that no one decides for themselves to believe in religion. Not everyone is religious because their parents told them to be. Many are because of personal experiance and real conviction. You do not have that conviction, that is fine. I just wish you wouldn't come down so hard on those that do. You may not think you are being offensive (or maybe you do, in which case you can serisouly **** off), but youseem to have the opinion that religious people are brainwashed idiots, and it shows. No one likes being accused of that, even if it is only implied. Not that you are alone in attitudes like that. Athiests are always sure that the nonexistance of God is fact, though they can prove that no more than religious people can prove his existance. Since basically neither side can convince the other, what's the point of mocking the other side? No one has come in here and said that you'll be damned for being an unbeliever, but you keep saying that religious people are idiots, believers in a bogeyman. im religious b/c i want to be....i really do enjoy it. its saved me from horrible stuff. im also into trying new stuff to a certain point.. ill drive across country...ill eat fried octopus (my fav!!!) but im not going to sleep with the gurl next door or guy next door. i just have limits and not having sex is one. im not afraid of it....its the consequences.............safe sex......you dont have a 100% chance of contracting something..something can always happen...maybe not that time but another.... but thats my opinion... no offense to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :catgirl: purrrrr
eh I got over the whole anti religion a long time ago. I don't see the point in bashing it. One view is as valid as the other. Legato's being a bit harsh on it. Some people like religion(find comfort in it or whatever), some people don't. I myself find the idea a tad inconcievable. It never made sense to me(and the idea of someone seeing everything you do really creeps me out, what a perv). I just want to follow what I believe and that's that. But even people like me who don't believe in a god or gods should accept that they could be wrong. I mean I think that no matter how sure you are of what you believe in, there is always a chance you are wrong. nothings ever 100%
I'm starting to see some trends forming in the Misc board, guys... and not a good one for that matter. While I'm not going to say that you have to change your opinions on the world and the way it works, I once again remind you to whenever possible keep yourself from acting inappropriately. In this particular case, a partly harmless topic has been reverse-engineered into a heated debate of morality and religion. This was NOT what the Misc board was intended for, and if such discussions continue, it may well cause the removal of it - something I'd rather not do, but I would rather do it than have our boards turn into an "inappropriate" discussion place or a battlefield. I lock this thread in the hopes that you guys will learn from it...and not continue to show such behaviour in other threads. If you want a place to discuss sexual behaviour and whatnot, please look elsewhere than MangatoAnime. Thank you.
Just out of curiousity where did you find that garbage at.. When im drunk im usualy having a great time. its not because the HMM told me id have fun.. its because im having fun..
