    I love football and I find it hard to believe americans invented it. When I little, or littler than I am now, since I was 7 till about when I was 12, I kicked a$$ on an all-boys team (except for me).
    Those guys never knew what hit 'em!
    And as for Brazil/Brasil, I think you're right, but Brazil is funnier ;)

    Dude, it's hard to believe that they invented the sport because they didn't. And yeah, "football" kicks ... or the CFL version anyway. I'll take that over those over-paid morons in the NFL. I see them screw up more plays in that league than I see Canadian hockey fans (my worst simile ever ...). I used to play a bit of football a few years back, but I never went very far because I didn't like the coaches and they didn't much care for me.

    But, we're waaaay off-topic here! Let's try to keep this constructive, ya? FIGHT THE SPAM!

    No offence lads but the European countries are good at soccer and America and Canada arent great
    Someone say Canada invented hurling :confused:
    That's an Irish sport played with a hurley and a slitor (<-- how do ya spell that lads ?? its a ball anyways)
    Gaelic too , good game , Auzzies went and changed it then to auzzies rules , change round ball to rugby ball and put more goal posts in etc...
    Anyone have the groups for the world cup ??
    I Dont even know who Ireland is playin

    Yo, the Indians did nothing of the sort. An Indian is someone from India, ya? [PURAZUMA!]-ing politcally-correctedness ... just don't say "Native Americans", because technically anyone born in North or South America is one of those.
    And of course Canada sucks at soccer. We have hockey to focus on. I bet a Candian team could smoke an Irish team at that any day. Gretzkey is Canadian, after all.
    As for the World Cup, well, I'm sure to hear more about that from a few of the locals around here ... we have a large Portuguese population (or percentage of population, anyway ... nothing on our population is large), and a good deal of the men are obsessed with the Portuguese team, it would seem ... It's a good bet they lose and then start whining about that like so many countries' figure skaters do when they didn't bribe the judges enough ... [PURAZUMA!]-ing Olympics ...

    Ireland dont even have a hockey team man so of course Canada would beat them , most people over here dont even know what hockey is , so theres a load of Portugese lads playin for Canada ?

    No, just a load of immigrants cheering on the Portuguese team. Canada might as well not have a team, because everyone here who really cares already has a team to cheer for.
