They're Undead.

 

Dead. They died when they were bitten by the vampire. That was easy.

 

I'll post in a non-flaming manner. If holy objects such as a crucifix really are dangerous to a vampire, then I'd go with undead. Otherwise, I'll stick with alive.

 

undead or alive? hmm... how about non-existing? But out of 2 i would stick with the undead, as it makes more sense to me.

 

Fudge_Monkeys, I think the general consensus is that they're undead.

Was there something you heard recently that made you unsure of that? Perhaps you could share it with us?

 

well i've seen some vampires around where i live^_^....i'll go with undead. yes..they are undead.

 

Simple....they're undead. They got bitten. And all they need to eat..erm...drink...is blood. Thus...for some reason...that makes them undead.

My dad used to call my friends vampires cause they were scared to come out during the day and would oonly call around to me when the sun went down. And i have to agree with him.

I also agree with everyone else in saying that they are undead.

They're undead. They got bitten by a vampire, which in turn killed the victim, and then the victim came back as a vampire. When you come back from the dead you are considered undead, so yeah, they're undead.

 

Well i think that they are alive because they can think for them selves but if you ever watch the movie blade i think i dont remember really well but from what i heard blade was a vampire hunter but he himself is a vampire

 

Vampires aren't dead because they have a physical body. Alive things need energy in order to stay alive. Vampires have a physical form and need energy in order to stay undead. Not only that, but you can also kill vampires, whether it's by wooden stake or conventional weapons. By this aspect they should be considered alive.

But let's look at a way to consider them undead. They're always out for people's blood. Blood is very important for humans and animals. Without enough of it, we die. It can be considered our lifeforce. Vampire's need what gives us life in order to keep them alive. Because of this, we can say that vampires are undead.

I could actually be considered a vampire. I hate the light, I absorb energy from fire, and I'm awake mostly at night.

 

Eternal balze but you also have to think if humans need blood why would vampires take blood? Because vampires need blood too. they need it to survive and thats another fact why i think they are alive

 

As long as we're taking our knowledge fictional contemporary movies...

Ever seen Interview with the Vampire? With the same weight as your own evidence, this movie proves they are in fact undead.

However, that weight is nil, as it is a recent source, and we should be looking further back to the beginnings of the legend for the real evidence.

Forgot to put something in that post that fixes that.

Living things need energy. Do you really think that blood by itself can supply enough energy to a vampire? Especially when you look at the older versions of vampires when they only get a person once every year or something like that. My thinking leads me to believe that they feed off of the ethereal energies (lifeforce) provided by blood. I realize that statement is gonna confuse some people but I'm not gonna explain it because it would take too long of a post and too much of my time.

 

Eternal-Blaze, you have a flawed hypothesis regarding vampires being alive.

Zombies are iconic of the undead...
-have a body
-can be killed
-depending on the mythos do need brains to keep going.

As far as vampires and fire go... vampires hate contact with fire. Save the sun, it's the worst thing to be exposed to for them.

Anyway, vampires are supernaturally animated. They're undead and not "standard" living.

 

I'm an alternate version of a vampire, then.
