I am biased because it was one of the first full anime's I watched and knew what I was getting into. I read the synopsis online and read into it before actually watching it...but I liked it. Actually I like it a lot.

It becomes a lot like a psychological report for the last two episodes, but...the movie makes up for the action that wasn't there in the last two.

It seems Eva has something for everyone, giant robots, lots of blood, angsting teens, evil masterminds matching wits with each other and with supernatural powers, forays into the psyche... something for almost every otaku out there...

I like it for the less overt parts of the show...

The true joy of some series is not the first viewing... I've watched Eva all the way through 7 times. i still get confused about a lot of things.. but I find new stuff each time.

There is a lot to be said for subsequent viewings, but...
Well, UK, you know how I rewatch things, and how I've probably overwatched some episodes of Eva.
I'm coming to believe that there's a lot of value in the first viewing that you just can't experience again. There's a lot of impact when you see something for the first time, because you've got that special element of surprise involved.

Yo UK, you forgot to mention that EVA also has one of the most popular characters off all animedom!

And yeah, just like Lain, a lot of the stuff in Evangelion seems to demand another day or so watching it all again (and again).

I know it's a really bad reason for my watching it too, but when my uncle saw me watching the movie, he righteously freaked out. He got mad at me too, since he thought I was being blasphemous, but that was part of the situation. The series is meant to turn heads at any given point, and that's what it did.

Besides, like UK said: action, mecha, guns, disgusting looking white lips, and a blown-up-like-a-balloon Rei Ayanami head that gave me nightmares for a week....what more could you want!?

I thought it was the gretest anime ever made myself. Quite ddep, with references you'll never get unless you do some research. It doesn't hand everything to you on a platter.

Even with some research and digging around, thing's arent't totally clear. People still debate parts of it, and that adds to the fun imho.

/me really liked the last 2 eps

I really liked the last two as well. In fact, better than the movie. I just said that the movie was there to fill the need to use the mecha so fan people were satisfied. And the fight scenes were awesome.

It was rather disappointing though, that they didn't focus on the mind of Misato during the end as well. I mean, isn't she the secondary main character in the series?

It also *is* one of the greatest, in my opinion. Anno had vision beyond imagining when he created EVA. Makes you wonder what's in his mind. o_O

    http://www.interlog.com/~mileston/neon_genesis/eva.html

I put that site on here before, it pretty much contains all of "The Red Book". That is a book that came with watching the movie when it was released in Japan. It gives insight to what Anno wanted to instill in the series and why the movie was made. it also does a good job of explaining most everything in terms of symbolism in eva. They have some wierd theories, even considering the names of the three people "related" to each other in the series. Like how Gendo can be translated into "Father" Shinji into "Son" and Rei into "Spirit". I don't know if that's totally accurate, but it's still cool information.

I hope this *SORT OF* gets you kiinda in the series Naru. Or just something to read because you're bored out of your mind and want to do something else.

This is one of my favorite animes, although my reason of why I liked it are stupid thus no explaination. But wasn't this series originally suppose to be a comedy like series, but the director made it extremly depressing, or are my sources smoking crack mixed with Mary Jane?

The red book is a fascinating read. I don't remember the part about the translation of their names though. Time for a reread :)

I've said it myself a few times here, and I agree with you: I liked the last two eps better than the movie. Oh well. The movie was good.

I hear Anno was depressed. Makes me wonder what FLCL would have been like :D

Yeah, Anno was depressed and he made it show in eva. Some people say he shows his personality through Shinji, Misato, Rei, and sometimes Asuka. Personally, I think it just shows how depressed he is by oppressing so much due to the "angel attacks".

I've seen all of Evangelion, and I really like the show! It's one of my favourite. It's not one of those anime's that you can just watch for the heck of it though, you have to try to concentrate on what's going on. But some of the time I just watched Eva for the fighting as well... and the violence(mwahahahahahaha). But it's one of those anime's that make you think, like Lain, I guess that's a reason why I like it.
