    Monty Python - Always Look At The Bright Side Of Life

    Some things in life are bad
    They can really make you mad
    Other things just make you swear and curse.
    When you're chewing on life's gristle
    Don't grumble, give a whistle
    And this'll help things turn out for the best...

    And...always look on the bright side of life...
    Always look on the light side of life...

    If life seems jolly rotten
    There's something you've forgotten
    And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
    When you're feeling in the dumps
    Don't be silly chumps
    Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

    And...always look on the bright side of life...
    Always look on the light side of life...

    For life is quite absurd
    And death's the final word
    You must always face the curtain with a bow.
    Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
    Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

    So always look on the bright side of death
    Just before you draw your terminal breath

    Life's a piece of ****
    When you look at it
    Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
    You'll see it's all a show
    Keep 'em laughing as you go
    Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

    And always look on the bright side of life...
    Always look on the right side of life...
    (Come on guys, cheer up!)
    Always look on the bright side of life...
    Always look on the bright side of life...
    (Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
    Always look on the bright side of life...
    (I mean - what have you got to lose?)
    (You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing!)
    Always look on the right side of life...

    Well... One of my preferred escapist tactics is to drown my brain in videogames for a few hours to pass the time. It's mindless, it keeps me just barely focused enough that I don't think about whatever's got me down, and generaly I feel better afterwards.

    Of course, if you're talking about serious, socially or academically detrimental, suicidal depression... get your butt to a good therapist. No amount of advice from random people will help you deal with your problems better than you can by seeing a professional. (Plus, we can't proscribe Prozac.)

    I'd cry, a lot. It helps. Then I'd listen to jpop and sing along to it. Then I'd talk to a good friend if I had one available at the time. Then.. I'd start gaining weight..(crap) then doing nothing.. but then I'd find the things I have going for me again, and the people who care for me. Then I can go on, and umm lose the weight again. haha. and be happy.. even though I'd still be in a rut, I'd know I'll get out of it eventually. I just have to have hope in my life.

    I go out and buy stuff that i've been wanting for a while, games, manga, anime, cd's etc. That always helps cheer me up. That and also being alone for a while, cause when i'm in a bad mood everyone seems to make a habit of pointing out that i'm in a bad mood, which is something i hate the most cause it annoy's me even more :anger2: . I think that has something to do with me never really being in a bad mood. But anyway when i am in a bad mood i just like to be left alone fro a while so i can clear out my thoughts.

    I ussually feel sorry for myself. =| I'll end up sitting in my room staring off into space, think about how bad i feel. I ussually end up listening to alot of music. And when i am really angry or depressed i find that drawing helps me out. I'll draw what I feel. I also read, it helps get my mind off things.

    Like just recently I broke up with my girlfriend. And its been tough. "Lets just be friends" it hurts. And all that stuff has helped.

    BTW, That guy, I like the poem. Thanks for sharing! I will wistle my problems away. Ingenious!

    I usually cry it out, unless I'm in a public setting in which case I'll just "put on a happy face" until I'm alone again, or I'll just try to ignore the feeling and hope it eventually goes away *shrug*.

    go have sex.
    ok so thats not going to happen but i like to watch some of my weird movies, go driving, go get some coffee and a slice of cake, (mmm... cake) and i also like to go hang out with my friends or my boyfriends, I think its kind of your mood, and which friends you have and what you can do with them. If I ever do feel depressed my friends and I go get a manicure at a cheap but good salon, or we go have our own spa at home day. just some suggestions.

    Listen to music. That usually helps. One song that always lifts my spirits every time I hear it is Modest Mouse - Float On. It's just, really, a very optimistic song. I'm sure there are others out there, but that one does it for me. Being the sadistic son of a monkey I am :p I tend to play violent video games and it helps. Also, of course, reading and drawing. Just something to take your mind off of things.

    "And we'll all float on alright, already, we'll all float on alright, don't worry, even if things end up a bit too heavy, we'll all float on alright."

    Probably cry. No, yeah, wait, definitely cry...Or...

    Well, whenever I get depressed, which thankfully isn't often, all I need to do is talk to this one person I know; my very best friend and soul mate, and that act cheers me up instantly.

    Music helps keep me happy, and doing some of my hobbies too.

    Listen to Wagner's "Die Walkure", Boston's "Smokin" and Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way". By the time that triad is completed, I am ready to fight my woes again.

    If I am feeling that apprehensive depressed (something bad is coming), I do something a friend of mine said: "Since it isn't anything you can change or influence, just don't think about it." And damnit, it works. Unless you're reminded about it (which just now took place :anger2: ).

    Depressed? I, umm...

    I tend to cry about a lot of things, including depression. I blame my star sign :anger2: Buuuut anyway, apart from whining and crying (I remind myself of Asusa from Ranma :bleed: ) *cough* ...
    ...I also:

    Draw something (though it usually turns out pretty crap...);
    Write a poem or diary entry;
    Eat something with sugar in it. I do that a lot anyway;
    Listen to music. CRANK UP HYDE'S MUSIC!! Okay maybe not crank it up. Put a Jpop/Jrock CD in my discman and listen to it;
    Read;
    Watch some good animés ^_^ ;
    Go online and talk to friends I'm comfy talking to;
    Go online to forums. Mine, his, hers, here. I find here to be nice, I know a lot of people. My site seems to make me think about the responsibility. Ah well!
    Take a deep look in the mirror (not admiring anything, mind you, just looking). It's like it cleanses my soul or something. It works! :rolleyes:
    Talk to my bf, he's so understanding;
    And finally, stare at Hyde, lol :D

    ill have to agree with gensai on this one. after some training, all is good with the world. either way, i havent ever had that problem. i dont care enough either way to let something depress me. if i cant fix it, i dont worry about it.

    I once went out at night around the neighborhood for a walk. I would do self inflicted pain. One day i was so bummed out because a whole lot of people were making my life misserable, I ran my bike into the curb, purposly, and i still have the scar to prove it. I would sit up in my room for a long time, with the curtains closed just layinng there. Now i just sit in my room listening to music, or take a walk in the park.

    I think I can honestly say I've never been so depressed that I can't deal with it. Although, if I'm sad or broody I tend to work very hard at something, like a drawing, schoolwork or even tidying my bedroom *shudders*

    But honestly, the best cure is to have a good moan at someone :rolleyes:

    I don't get depressed. But, if I ever did, I would likely watch my favorite anime series. Either that, or read a book, listen to music, or play video games.

    Although, there was a time when I did get really depressed. It was when I had to kick someone out of my life. It wasn't a girlfriend or anything, but a relative. He'd been treating me very badly and talking to me like I was dirt, so I told him to get out of my life and never to speak to me again. At the time, I was really hurting, but now, I'm better for it. It did hurt me to have to say it, but I'm fine now. In fact, I'm wishing I said that 8 months earlier.

    P.S. I realize I didn't mention my favorite anime series. But it's obvious to anyone who knows me which it is. So there. :p

    [EDIT] I think that whole "I injure my body so that people see that I'm hurt, when I'm really hurting inside." thing is pretty stupid. Sorry to jakotsu_chan and whoever else does this, but it doesn't make sense to do that. If you're hurting inside, why would you deliberately hurt yourself? Aren't you in enough pain already? Besides, there's many better ways to inform people of your pain than to make it physical. Tell someone. Explain why you hurt. At the most extreme, perhaps you should see a psychiatrist. There's no need to injure/kill yourself. Never.[/EDIT]

    If you are depressed and it seams to be all the time get help. Cutting and hurting yourself is not the answer. Talk to someone. Call a help line. Deal with the pain. It will feel better once you have delt with it. Remember everyone gets depressed.

    Talking is what helps me. Forgetting isn't an answer.
