i live in alabama and its ridiculous. not really because everyone hates each other, but mainly cause there is this silent treatment that is everywhere. my high school if i remember right was about 80% white 20% black. but the city i lived in was completely white, maybe a few black families, the rest of the black folks came from the inner city on buses. although there wasnt any clear segregation, the blacks simply hardly ever did anything with the whites. except for sports.

It hurts me knowing that racism still exists today:( i see no point in it at all. people shouldn't be judged on how they look, because it's not something that they can't control. *sighs* it's just sad. well i'm glad i live in an area where everyone is accepted:)

on a happier note *for me the least* this is my 100th post, HUZZAH!!!

I live in S Ca also, very little racism here. On a side note, what city do you live in Kagome's Arrow and User18?

I live in Indiana, the state where the KKK started. It's pretty sad the way people think around here considering there is almost no black population to give them a reason to be angry with any problems. There is also some racial hate towards the Mexican immigrants in the area. The hate is based on the mentality passed down through families. Parents hate, so the kids do too. I'm lucky enough to have not been born here, and have very open minded, loving parents. So moving here after had lived in a variety of states with many different ethnic mixtures, it was sad to hear what some people say.

Yeah, BotticelliLover and I go to the same school (actually we're siting next to each other right now :anime:).) I was also born outside Indiana and I moved around a lot, so I was never really influenced by racism. But, like BL said, racism is a big problem here, especially since we live so close to Cincinnati. At least once every month we hear about some shotting over racial differences. It's so stupid! Forget about the Al-Queada trying to destroy us, we're doing a fine job on our own!

I live in the United Kingdom, Its not thats bad here, in america tho it seems to be terrible. I mean you have these terrible beatings.

I hate racism, my fathers boss is a racist, he wont even go to the shop up the road just because a nice packistani couple own it. They have this little girl shes about 5 I think every time I see her I have to give her something like my sweets. ^_^. Anyway I went crazy on my dads boss because of his racist comments, I had to leave the room for fresh air.

There have been extreme cases of racist attacks in the UK tho, A few months back there were 2 south african girls walking home from a party, they were slightly drunk according to their friends who stayed at the party. They were found dead the next day, they caught the men who did it, two white men drove by and stabbed them to death. I hate this so much, I hate the way people make fun of my friends. One of my friends alan tran he is cantoneese I think. And people who pass him by call him things like "chinky" making fun of his origins.

Another case was about a small nigerian boy about 8 or 9. He was left to bleed to death on a set of steps late at night, too weak to call out or crawl for help. Terrible how can anyone do that to someone so young.

Thats about as extreme as it gets in the UK, it seems much worse elseware, watching the news, seeing cases about it, its really too nasty.

Im sorry if I have upset anyone, I really hate racism

It's ok where I live (same as rem, she's my girlfriend :anime: ) I think she means the two girls who were shot in a drive-by over some gang thing in birmingham. I dont think it was actually a racist attack, but maybe the gangs were opposed on that level.

In our school we dont really have a problem, minorities here are MINORITIES, I think alan is half vietnamese half cantonese. There's maybe two black kids in the school total. and two chinese girls (I think, :dizzy2: sorry ). That's not much given our school has about 1700 students.

I dont talk to the black kids, but thats just because were not friends, I talk too the chinese girls and alan all the time. They don't mention any racist attacks on themselves, but they're not the kind of people to make a big thing out of anything.

There is the quite common racial joke made, but mostly it's just a joke with no malicousness (sic) attached. There are exceptions but that mostly comes from the resident crack addicts around here :anger2: but then they'll try to start something with anyone, it just happens that minorities are easy targets for them.

Obviously I can't speak fo the entire UK (this is south wales by the way, oh and i'm of entirely welsh heritage and i'm very white (I also dont get out much :D ))

If i've said anything that people find offensive here you have my apologies and maybe you could PM me so I can edit the post.

Racism is all but nonexistant in my town, but that's mostly just because there's only four real groups here.
We've got the Portuguese (and people of Portuguese descent). They have slight racist tendencies because they think they're better than everyone else because they're Portuguese. Of course, if you ask them why they moved to Canada if Portugal is so great and they just get mad at you.
Then there's those of Dutch background. No real problems with them. They just speak a different language.
We have a lot of rednecks too. They drive around in their pickup trucks, wearing meshbacks and listening to country music, but otherwise aren't that bad. Not like the classical deep-south rednecks who go around shouting racial slurs and all that. Most of ours aren't actually too bad once you get to know them.
And the fourth group is pretty much just my family and one of my friends' families.
Of course, this little town is fully integrated, so being a real racist will just get someone's foot up your *** ... and in a small town, you really don't want enemies.

i live in cleveland ohio....here the city is split into the west side, and the east side. In the east side most of the black people live there and its in terrible shape. In the west side is where most of the whites live, everyone else just sort of wonder around, but the hispanics live RIGHT in the middle. I live in the west side, my high school is good though because we have almost every ethnic group you can think of. the only problem is that its split in to groups, the gothics, stoners, punks, jocks, "thugs" , the drama group, the role paying society, and the preps which makes up about .001 percent of the population ^^;;. Here if you're a prep you get jumped..

There's not much racism in this area. There is some, but mostly it's nonexistent. And heaven knows my best friends all have different ethnic/racial backgrounds. It's fun, really... You get to hear different perspectives on things. I love it almost as much as I love all of them. ^_^

I don't actually know any racist people. There's no racism I know of in my home town/city and I'm happy for that.

Well I could say there's sort of racism in my regions (I'm from Belgium by the way..). Alot of Belgian people are against the Turks and Marroccan immigrants who live here. Many of them still haven't learned our language (Dutch) properly, so they are hard to talk with in the first place.
Second thing is the youth of them. Most of the time they just hang around in gangs, being all tough (y'know what I'm saying?) and gansta.
Well, sorry to say, but I've been pushed over my limits after being assaulted by a duo of Marroccan guys who threw me off my bike (I was driving at 25km/h so imagine being pushed off at that speed...) and kept swinging a butterfly knife in front of me. I gave up my money (10 whole €, nothing much, but it's MY GODDAMN MONEY!) and they also wanted my MP3. He didn't get that, he'd have to prey it off my cold dead body...
Luckily I didn't got harmed, too many people showed up so they got scared. Later on, 2 days afterwards, the cops called, said they got the one who attacked me. He was well-known with the police, and had quite a list of bad stuff on his record. But they couldn't put him in jail because..
He was freaking 15 years old. Pardon me, but when they get criminal at that age, I had enough...
Many of my friends and the other people I know are hateful against them too. I guess we can be called racists.
Our school was also 99% white. But yeah, why should they take artschool? Recent studies here have proven the immigrant youth of Belgium has a "macho-behaviour" and wish to take the technical courses such as car technicians. So these are also the people I hate so goddamn much: speeders. I -can't- stand freaking speeders...

Well I've been rambling, to make things short: yes there is sort of racism in my vicinity, but nothing extreme. It's odd my town only has a small, very small percentage of immigrated families..

as for my community, i dunno, but in my school, it is bad. i see kkk on half the desks and the race jokes would irritate me if they werent racial, they are said so much. pretty much anything that isnt white redneck or prep is harassed. if they knew i did martial arts or manga, i would never be left alone. once during a discussion kn ww2 they were having a fit over "japs" attack on pearl harbor, and when i brought up the fact that we incinerated 2 civilian cities, one after peace talks had been proposed by the japanese, and the fact that the "evil sneak attack" came with a 30 minute warning, they just started crap like, "all they want is to follow their emporor! theyll do whatever he says!" i just sat there and laughed. they finally got to simple personal insults, so the teacher told everyone to get back on topic. theis kind of thing is constant at my school. i think there is only one black person to stay for more than a year, and she was a guidance counselor.
