    What started my collection swas I think Sailor Moon. I bought the first 9 volumes. It just keeps on going from there. I have to have close to 100 titles. So that would be like 1,300+ episodes. I tell you it is madness.

    Umm, the first VHS I bought was Escaflowne, eps 9-11, and the first DVD I bought was Samurai X: Trust. Esca also got me into anime, even though I had seen Pokémon and Digimon years before that.

    Nowadays I mostly buy manga though. I'm too cheap to be able to afford anime ^^;;

    My first taste of anime was Escaflowne. Now I've got the soundtracks and the movie. I have a few more of anime movies appleseed and others. I mostly like the anime is made with the colors and depth of a true artist.

    I believe the DVD that began my collection was Princess Mononoke. It's been a long time, though, so I'm not sure if that was the first or not. This was followed shortly by Dragon Half, X vol.1, X the Movie, and Escaflowne vol.1.

    I believe I started buying Cowboy Bebop volumes first, then the Record of Lodoss tv box set, then it grew from there. There were animes I saw before that interested me, but really at the time I didn't have access to much anime on dvd, so my anime collection started when I had enough money and was able to find the dvds in stores, before I started ordering online.

    I don't consider acquiring fansubs on tapes as part of my anime collection, if I did, then I would say SMJ and Nadesico started my collection off. Happy I have those on dvd now.

    Hrm, Ranma 1/2 started my addiction back on poorly copied VHS tapes. Saber Marionette J was the first real series I cared about collecting after that. First fansubs and then DVDs. She still be mah #1 series. MmHmm.

    So what started my true collection must be the Noir vol 1 DVD that I won in a contest ^_^

    Erm... Fushigi Yuugi. *fiddles with computer cord* Sadly, I now can't watch that anime more than once a year, or my head will implode due to Miaka's . . . unique habits.

    Well, if recording anime on tape counts, then Either Akira or Record of Lodoss War about 10-11 years ago. I think I was about 9 or 10 when I started watching anime on the Sci-Fi channel when it came on at like 2am on sundays. After 2 or 3 animes I started recording them and whenever I got the Action channel I started using that. I had probably 5 or 6 tapes filled with anime before I bought Vampire Hunter D on vhs, before dvds. I think that was about 7 years ago. Then that grew into about 40 animes on dvd. Unfortunately I had all of my dvds in one of those big cd cases, anime and regulars and the case got stolen.
