The title says it all, y'alls. The question is "which series has the best music?"

My vote goes for Noir. True, I've only seen the first episode, and that was just a few minutes ago, but that series has some sweet music. I don't mean the theme songs, which I thought were kind of mediocre, but the music played during each episode was great.

I though Escaflone had excellent music, but the music in Escaflone could be classified as Gothic and Gregorian chant mixed very well. Then again every thing done by Yoko Kanno turns out excellent...

    FLCL obviously [IMG]

How can I say anything other than the series that introduced me to my favorite band?

Yeah, Escaflowne had some cool tunes. Dance of Curse was in my head for weeks after I heard it.
As for FLCL, I can't say that I'm very familiar with the soundtrack. I know it's Pillows, but I don't know which songs. I've never even seen so much as a minute of the series, so it can't really get a vote from GNZ.

Listening in general, it would have to be Escaflowne with 4 cds of excellent thought-out music. Noir's soundtrack is cool with Salva Nos kicking in once in a while.. oh yah, Another big-wig even before Noir is the Spriggan Soundtrack. Kuniashi Haishima really knows how to kick some tunes in, along with his work for Gasaraki.

FLCL and Noir are my fav soundtracks!

But the music by Yokko Kanno is extremely good... she's known for Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus, etc. She's an extreme cool cat (obscure reference [IMG]).

I thought Gundam Wing had really cool beats too, and Two Mix just breaks it down!

Crap!! how can I forget. Rurouni Kenshin had a great musical score!! N. Asakura is a genious. But I realy loved the music in the OVA and in the Shimabara arc which I believe was composed by Taku Iwasaki.

Music... ahh... and yet there still go some unrecognized series in the music catagory, of course, the music, by itself, might not be as good, but in the context of the seires, it becomes a perfect accent to the action. Take Excel Saga for example, or DNA² even.

For me though, my hard drive speaks volumes about my favorites... I have none, there's something from about everything on there, and each MB is well spent, as I comb my HD for files to delete often enough with how little space I have.

Not quite a lecture, but still it's-

While FLCL still rules all, I just downloaded the Earth Girl Arjuna OST, and it is quite good. Yoko Kanno has struck again. Quite good, this one.

The song while they are riding the motorcycle is 'Cloe', sung by Chinatsu Yamamoto. I have it now, as you may be able to surmise.

And yes, the soundtrack is very cool, a nice mix of folkish, chantish stuff, and some other stuff too!

The theme song from Star Ocean EX is pretty good. I am told it's called Go To The Light, but I'm not sure who it's by.

Hattan Amika sings To the Light ;)

Oh and the music to Slayers and Lost Universe methinks are some of the best works of Megumi Hayashibara... they just seem to have the most beat or something @_@x

I like the music to Macross Plus (my favorite of all Ms. Kanno's work), Hyper Police, Evangelion (yep, that's right) and the quirky fun tunes from El Hazard. :p I have several EH soundtracks, they're all a lot of fun...

Just in case anyone's interested, Suncoast Video has started carrying some anime soundtrack CDs at $15 apiece. I have seen two Macross Plus CDs, a couple Tylor CDs, Akira, and one or two others. It's all good and these are DOMESTIC releases by Tokyo Pop.
