Now remember I'm brand new to this stuff, but I'm actually becoming a big Kikaider fan since they started to show it on Adult Swim.
At first I wasn't interested because it didn't seem "adult" enough for me. However after the first 2-3 episodes the show actually starts to develop into something unique.
I love the guitar song Giro (Jiro?) plays, and I definitly love the song during the ending credits of the show.
The action is cool of course, but it's the dark stories I like. Oddly enough, I find this otherwise typical show very depressing! Everybody seems like their about to start crying. Still, I really feel for Giro and his sister. I can't miss an episode!
But this is probably the only anime I've actually watched from the begining, plus the only one I've seen from the 1980s (when exactly, anyway?) I really don't know much about it and I'm not exactly used to this type, but hey I like it anyway.

I seen a few episode and it's pretty good. I like the song in there too. The only reason I watch it, is 'cuz I like drama stuff and it have some or maybe lots of drama stuff. Those of you that know me well enough didn't think I like drama, now did ya? Overall it's an okay show. I give it a 3 1/2 stars. :)

    ???

it's ok. Good enough to make me wanna stay up and watch it, so I guess it's ok. I love the ending theme. It's awasome. I just wish is was longer.

I don't exactly know what other 1980s anime shows are like, but this one sure is depressing. Every episode some one dies or you find out that so-and-so has become totally evil, or something terribly bad has happened to some one great, ect. But it's dramatic!
I still can't get used to these shows being only a half hour long.

Not too bad, i guess. I don't like the way everything is drawn. It looks like disney on acid. The women's necks are too thick (that is what realy sticks out) and all the characters look like they're made out of spheres with skin and clothes stretched over them.

I don't see you complaining that Peter Chung draws his characters so thin and musular they'd collapse, or that Tezuka's cartoons are too cartoony and undetailed, their eyes too big, their heads too round, ect.
Realism isn't a strong point for anime. The art isn't something I care that much about on this show, it's mostly average. I actually like how their bodies are drawn, even if it's not realistic it's still expressive. I'd say that Spike in Cowboy Bebop is drawn almost the same way except more detailed and a differant kind of face (his legs are about 3 times as long as the rest of his body!)
So quit complaing about the art and get used to it. I've watched the show from when it started, not sure if you did, but if you follow every episode from the begining it makes things much more dramatic.

Yeah, well, Reign really sucked. And I hated Įžon Flux back when HBO used to show it.

Apart from looking like Mobile toys and the women's eyes all seeming on the edge of tears, it looks good.

But the plot is excellent. That's the best part!

I've been talking about it in my diary.

    SPOILER:

Your eyes would be on the edge of tears all the time if your Mother killed herself, you found out your Dad is trying to kill you, you grew up lonely and unwanted, and your friend is going through such a hard time.
The episode last night, where they made love, creeped me out. I always thought she thought of his as a brother. Guess I was wrong. Still, that was the most depressing love scene I've ever seen.

    END OF SPOILERS
The show is very depressing, but the plot is amazing. Every episode ends with a big suprise or situation-changing development.
But I don't know anything about this show! Does anyone know how many episodes there are? Any minute it could be the last one! And is the original Manga for sale in America? I'd LOVE to read this!

Great, tonight was the last episode and the ending sucked. My dad watched it with me and he spotted the name Peter Lurie in the credits. What the heck is he doing there??

    I know! Was that it??

I mean, is he going to just wander around and never return to her?

And she thinks he said he would come back when I distinctly remember that he didn't say anything at all...denial, of you ask me.

Kikaider is great, but it really shouldn't have replaced Lupin, it should have replaced that godawful Inu-Yasha.

I don't think that was the last episode, as too much stuff is still unresolved.

    Spoiler of sorts

This is a story about a puppet finding his humanity, but i think that if he looks deep inside his circuitry, that humanity isnt about flesh and blood, but about feelings and caring.

    End spoiler

Its a great series, I have to tape it next time its on. And the bizzare "Diznycid" look, I think anyway, was intentional...I think its a variation of Pinnochio, as we saw in the first episode. Anyway, time to go to work now...I talk bout this more later.

too many people love InuYasha for them to even think of that. The reason I'm sure this is the last episode is because it's the only one without a preview for the next episode.

I love Inu yasha and I agree with SpaceCowboy... I hate to be picky but the way they are drawn is just so awful to me! But I suppose it has a good story...

BTW the best shows on adult swim are Bebop, Trigun, and Inu Yasha!

I disagree. The animation is ripped from the pages of a Tezuka manga, except it's 1980s-lookin.
I read in a magazine that next month the show will be released on DVD! It mentioned something very interesting.
They said the show was based on a live-action show!
    What is this show??
