    Wahay! Ireland won their game today! That means they advance, ya? The sad part about living here is that we get the games at the early hours of the morning, around 2 or 3. I have to catch the re-showings during school hours ... I'm just lucky that I have a sports-crazed calculus teacher, I guess.

    It's kind of funny that I accidentally refer to the World Cup as football (we North Americans call it soccer, if you didn't know ;)). My dad thought I was actually talking about the CFL (Canadian Football League). He said "you must really be looking forward to the summer, then!", and I replied, "dude, the World Cup's on now!" ... oi, I've been in Spanish too long ...

    I don't know! I'm surprised how well Japan is holding up too! I was rooting for them already though. Along with: "Russia, Brazil, Korea, Ireland"

    I don't know who I want to win! But I of course will say, Japan.

    This isn't really a big deal to me, as I'm not an avid sports fan. However, I *was* in London the day England's team beat Argentina's. After the sight of a bunch of drunken Englishmen and women singing the official England anthem between rounds of Guiness, I can't help but say I, momentarially, rooted for their team.

    Seriously, have you guys heard England's song? it was written so that anyone can sing/scream along, no matter how many beers you've packed away.

    So far .. I think that either Brazile or Italy will win ..
    But I really do hope from the bottom of my heart that JAPAN wins .. :sad:

    Well, Japan got top of their group, which is nice and they're playing turkey in the quarters. Ye know, if both Ireland and Japan win all their matches from here on in, they'll meet each other in the final. That'd be an interesting game.

    OI! It is not the England team, or even a majority of the English people who riot when they lose! It's only a small bunch of louts and it's not fair to pick on the rest of the English over it. At least if they lose with an own goal the perpetrator isn't likely to get shot for it! The English don't have a monopoly on behaving badly over soccer. Grrrr.

    And this is nothing to do with having been born in England, it's about justice. Personally I'd like to see the final that DL suggested.

    Portugal lost. It's pretty sad when all the "Portuguese" people I know start whining like a pack of wounded puppies when the team from a country that they know nothing about, have never been to, and only like because their parents told them to's team lost. Hmm, that sentence probably doesn't make sense ... Get this: This girl I know actually said that Korea was stupid for winning that game.
    Anyway, it was fun watching Korea crush them on Friday.
