Yup, it's been released! For all you breadmakers and breadtasters and ... hentai (though, not really) lovers out there, YakiPan is FINALLY released in Japan.

I haven't seen it yet, as a whole, but the character designs look to have stayed true to the manga. Although, I've only seen Azuma, really, so that's no judge. I haven't seen his sister, OR Tsukino, as of yet, so I can't really judge. I really do hope that the style of art in the manga hasn't been degraded TOO much when they had to animate it. The girls are GORGEOUS, and it'd be a shame to lose some of that quality. HECK, I'm hoping that Kawachi still looks as bomb-diggity with that afro as he did in the manga.

Rest assured, I'll make a better judgement tomorrow!

    I am getting this...only 3 hours left...

I really like the art, and Azuma looks pretty decent in the show. I wonder how Mokoyama looks like :D

    Mmm...Pan....

lol.. I was going to post when I finally watched the ep.. :p Well, it's very cute, and the animation added in a few funny things too the manga didn't but took out at least one semi-crass thing from the manga. I love the show! I mean, if anime can get Go or tennis to work, why not bread making? I actually see more potential in this anime too!

I've been following the manga for about a year now, when I heard there was going to be an anime. I'll be honest, I cringed a bit. There's quite a lot to live up to with the manga. If it manages to live up to my expectations, this anime will be among my favorites of all time.
Now having seen the first episode I can comment, even if only a bit. The jury's still out, Kuroyan and the others who do 'professional' reactions are the big entertainment draw for me. Must have MORE!

I was blown away by how well they did the anime!
Koyasu Takehito really did a great job as Kuroyanagi Ryo! And also that goes to all the cast of Yakitate.
I love the manga and can't wait for more. :3

I felt the second episode at one point around the dough getting ruined, the pace was a bit too slow and it upset me and I thought 'oh no! this anime might not do so well! kick it up like in the manga' but I think I'm just being paranoid I want the anime to be just as good as the manga, and do very well as well.

I think the main character's name is funny. Azuma Kazuma! XD

For the first few minutes, I honestly thought the anime was rather stupid. However, as usual, I watched it through the end. I think it isn't half bad, I'm definitely adding it to my watch list.

I liked the 2nd episode. I found it hilarious, especially

with the curry talk, and the Himalayas, and the Indian chef or (Maharaja), and the dancing girls

I s'pose Ishould give the manga a read. It's just sitting here waiting for me. Or should I watch the show first, so I can comfort myself by saying even though the show is over, I still have the manga?

I am quite curious to see this, I'm having a hard time imagining how the transition to anime could work

Personally, I'm quite dissatisfied with a lot of the voice actors. Tsukino sounded nothing like I'd have imagined her, and Kawachi sounds too much like a punk.

But, I'm pretty sure the voice acting will get a bit better as the series moves on.

And I still can't wait to see Yukino animated!

And MO, just read it!!! You'll NEVER EVER EVER regret it!

Well, I think that we had high expectations for this series, considering how great the manga was and still is. I think we should just wait for some more episodes, who knows, the show might progress :)

Well, at least it's not like the cast of Bleach.. I was most dissatisfied with that.
But I think Yakitate Japan was done fairly well...
And the manga is always (99.9%) better than the anime. ^_-

Anybody see episode 13? Funniest ED song, EVER! The manager for the Minami branch (read: Afro Brother #1) is made in rather ugly CGI, and dances along to the new ED song.

    Now that's a laugh and a third.

    Yakitate Japan is brilliant d=(^o^)=b
just shows, doesnt matter what a manga or anime show is about, it can still be great. i mean, frankly being about some1 who wants to bake a national bread for Japan doesnt sound to promising, so that kind of put me off. even though i like Kogepan a lot.

Notice the 1st bread he makes right at the begingin is the same kind of bread as Kogepan was meant to be, with the red bean paste (anko) inside. Only Kogepan got burnt (T_T)

    wha?

Anyways, I've been behind in my viewing. Finally saw the episode 13 ending, now THAT was very creative, I don't think I've seen a more interesting anime ending animation. ^____^

Vol. 1 dvd features 2 eps and omake special where seiyus show how to bake bread. I hope vol. 2 has atleast 4eps... omake was interesting however I'd prefer watching the anime instead. :(
