I think we're missing the big thing here. Doesn't anyone else realize that 10 or 20 years ago this wouldn't have even MADE it to the ballots? The the fact that it has become such a huge issue means that public opinion is changing. It doesn't have enough momentum yet, but the recent results are, by no means, proof the future. I see states adopting it within the next decade or so, if this keeps up. Whether this is a good or bad thing (see: overzealous, minority activists) is yet to be seen.

The news is always so depressing. Why does it always start with "Good evening" and then they tell you why it isn't?

I am glad there is something going on with the health care. It needs to change. There was this sitting homeless man who had a sign that read "ruptured appendix please help if can." I live in a town of 50,000. This shouldn't happen in America. Lets do something about it and if health care has to change then so be it. If people get paid less take off money from college. To many issues with it. Such a mess. Seriously pay for college. AND set the limits on pay and costs.

Cute bday present peachy. I think your ma is like my family and me (when I smoked). Hated the smell but still did it. The breath was the worse.

Let same sex marry. Let opposite marry. Let cousins marry. Lets all dance and be happy.

Caught the people who are "said" to be behind 911. Personally until found guilty I will bite my tongue because of everyone's opinion in the tragedy. Of course there is a lot of evidence for their convection have a feeling the trial might not be fare due to mixed feels. I hope it will be and these people who have evidence against them will be brought to justice.

    Uhhh, Bashi, ur grammmer r fawling a part. R U K?

I'm down for adding the OPTION of having the government provide me with health insurance. Key word: option. I don't have to roll with it if I don't want to, no socialist state req'd. Hurray. Unfortunately there's more than that on the bill and until I am able to figure out the entirety of the bill, then I cannot form an objective conclusion.

In other words, the first part of the bill could be for Gov't options, and the second one can be for paying back the Gov't with a year in a Gulag. We need to see what else is on there.

What I find odd, about your homeless man, Bashi, is that if he blew out his appendix and went to an ER, they would patch him up, realize he cannot pay, has no listed home address, and would be forced to take the hit. Of course, follow up treatment might be harder, medication and such. I don't know about where you live, but over here there's a ton of free clinics for these kinds of purposes. Of course you'll wait in line for 12 years to get in, but what'evs. I'm using the VA's hospital (so I'm set), but I'm kinda floating above all this, curious as to what will happen.

I don't know about letting cousins marry. The propensity for genetic dis-figuration and defects in their children blasts through the roof vice a couple of a few generations apart. Other than that, I don't care what couples do, as long as it doesn't bleed over into the legal system and school system. If parents don't want their children to learn about homosexuality, then they shouldn't. If Churches don't want to hold same-sex marriages, then they shouldn't be forced to. We don't need Uncle Sam teaching and enforcing "values", that's some Cold War BS there. Unfortunately the small, over-zealous activist groups (who only form a small fraction of the community as a whole) always raise a huge stink when parents and churches try to shield their children and beliefs from what they consider to be morally wrong, and they turn to the gov't to push their agendas, which is about as repugnant as one can be. I'm of the opinion that you can believe and act as you will, just keep your damn hands off of my own personal liberties and rights. PC is not a reason to override common rights.

Uhh, wait. Weren't you straight until a 6 mos/a year ago?

Idk. I do believe i've had relationships with females since 7ish grade. Just never really came out with a bang until 9th. So your off about a few years. It's been awhile but however much it offends you, even the worst homophobes would take or most likely at LEAST "give it". It doesn't matter if your flouncing around with a gay pride flag or whatever, we're all gay on the inside. Your just a big "bawl" of homosexuality Wert just begging to burst out! :)

We're all cousin screwers because think about it, we're all related somehow. I don't know how we managed to go into some big debate about something really not that important. Who cares? When they take back the privacy law thing about not having sex with females then I will get worried and riot. I don't think gay marriage in a christian sense should be allowed. It's a christian tradition. However, I believe in Civil Union. My friend was married under a wiccan ceremony. It was a hell of alot prettier than a christian one and a bit more realistic. Land of the FREEE everyone says is a crock of crap. I disagree. I'm free to live without fear and hey I can say i'm married to this girl and be satisfied without papers. Why can't people just be happy with love itself and why can't you people just stop worrying about gay marriage and OTHER people screwing anyone and pay attention to what actually matters? Like jesus coming back and all and the world ending.

Personally, I don't like the idea of marrying my cousins. My family is retarded. I'd hate to make more of the "Henrys". We already got enough crazy people in the world. But hey America, go for it! Screwing animals has already given us AIDS and you know these jesus fanatics are looking foward to another "Saddom and Gommorah" or however its spelled. I won't tell them not to. They aren't me and as long as they keep their hands, vajayjays, wee wees, and mouths to themselves - i'm cool.

The whole land of the free crap is wonderful and all but you still will always have a douche bag that comes along who thinks his science and religion actually matter. Debates like this are the only things that actually disappoint me. I just wasted five minutes of my life I can never get back. Now i'm going to go smoke a cig and take 10 more minutes off. Thanks.

I was kidding about the whole cousin thing. The simpsons was on tv and I remembered the town next door to the Simpons wanting to marry their cousins. A hillbilly if I remember correctly.

My grammar has gone out the window due to college and being really tired. Sorry.

Tired of these late nights. What is going on in the world? I know nothing.

Wait, what? I take a short hiatus and I become a conservative, bible thumping, homophobic, oppressionist?

I was actually pissed for a second there because I thought you were spinning off about me because I suddenly became a 'gay hater' or something. I had to re-read my initial post to figure out what you were talking about.

I'll say it again. It doesn't matter if you're gay or straight, you're as entitled your opinion as the next person, regardless of what they are. What chaps my ass is when small, overzealous, activist groups (who only form an itty bitty percentage of the over all community they represent) make a big stink about what they want, paint the entire community bad, and pass their warped agenda forcing the rest of us to live by them. The LGBT activists are just as repugnant, to me, as the conservative, religious based groups. Allow me to explain.

I believe that churches should have a degree of autonomy, and that no one should interfere with their beliefs and practices. If they do not wish to support or acknowledge gay or lesbian couples it is their right to practice as they believe. Faith and beliefs should be protected. A few LGBT activist groups find this to be offensive and are making pushes to get the United States Gov't to force the Churches to acknowledge them or face a revocation of their tax exemption. Conversely, there are highly conservative and very religious groups who are actively fighting to get the Gov't to not only restrict, but outlaw any LGBT activities because they feel that such a lifestyle is offensive to them; opinions based entirely upon religious dogma which is NOT shared, universally, among all people in the U.S. Both of these are startling examples of the same kind of intolerance, just on different ends of the spectrum.

Or take a look at schools. LGBT activist groups are trying to petition state Gov't to FORCE public schools to teach homosexuality to children, and then there are Conserv/Relig groups who want the state Gov't to FORCE public schools to teach religion and religious beliefs to children. Shouldn't these kinds of important topics be left up to the Parents, not activist groups or the Gov't? What right does either group have to tell me what my children should learn in school?

What's really sad is that these mindless activist groups form only a fraction of a percentage of their whole community, and yet they claim to speak for everyone. They paint a detrimentally bad image of their group to the rest of us. There was a school teacher who took her kindergarten class to watch a lesbian wedding at city hall in San Fran. That is a massive WTF. What right does she have to expose these children to, not only the sensitive subject of LGBT lifestyles, but to the concepts of sexuality as well? These things should be left up to the parent's discretion in accordance to their moral values and when they feel the 'proper' time the birds and the bees should be addressed. Parents across the country lit up, scared that these "Gays" were going to unhinge their beliefs and expose their children to things they do not feel they are emotionally equipped to handle. Even I was flabbergasted at the moxy of this teacher. However, I cannot really believe that the majority of their community are as single-mindedly stupid as this appears to suggest. It makes the entire community look bad, especially when 90% of them aren't raging agenda pushers who only want acceptance, not this warped sense of forced tolerance.

The same things can be said about raging, right wing, religious nutters who want creationism taught along side evolution in schools. They want it made clear that evolution is just a "theory" postulated by the cold, godless, impersonal machine of science. They should have that same disclaimer posted right next to every other article in science books- gravity, physics and such, because ALL science is theory. That's the basis of science. Creationism is religious ideology with absolutely no scientific backing (none at all) and deserves no place beside the admittedly cold mistress that is science. If parents want Creationism taught to their kids, they should do it themselves. It's not the state's responsibility to teach ideology to children. Separation of church and state clearly dictates this. Besides, it's unfair to children who have other beliefs because they subscribe to a different religion. This is how Pastafarianism started. These right-wing, religious groups do not represent religious people as a whole because most religious people are at least willing to entertain, if not subscribe, to evolution because of the empirical evidence the science behind it provides. These activist groups can inherit the wind, for all I care.

What ends up happening is these groups get their agendas passed which hurt society as a whole by stripping power and rights from the people and places them in the hands of the Gov't under the masquerade of political correctness. It's not PC, it's forced acceptance. People should not be forced to believe one way or the other because the Government says so, especially in matters such as religion or sexuality. It's up to the people to formulate and make their own opinions regarding these matters. I'm not entirely convinced that religion and sexuality aren't personal choices, especially considering your right to proclaim them and accept the responsibility of such. I've changed the classification of my religion and Peachy has changed the classification of her sexuality, unlike our skin color, which is something we never had, and never will, have any control over. Your personal inclination towards either side may not shift, per say, but the manner in which you proclaim and make it public, and accept the repercussions thereof, IS a decision. For the record, I am for gay marriage because it hurts no one and current system we have is unfair towards the LGBT community. Personal decision, exactly like skin color, should not delegate someone to a second class citizen status. However I am worried about the activist groups, and what they will do (like force schools to teach it w/o the parent's consent, which they have tried, which is wrong) once they became a legal entity under the law; a legitimate concern which is anything but derogatory towards the rest of the community as a whole.

THAT is what I mean when I say I hate activist groups... passionately.

You'll never get back THESE 10 minutes you wasted reading, ever.

By the way, Peachy, I'm stone cold straight. I like boobies too much. You should appreciate that point of view. :)

I hate activist groups in general. Paying people to beat baby seals, gays throwing flags at people, people sitting out in hawaii with signs that say "god hates fags"...Well said Wert. That'll do pig. That'll do.

Oh but i'm a lesbian! You're gay..I thought it was the other way around? :D

So how was everyone's thanksgiving? We just ate and all three of us ladies had a drink like every year. Then I watched street fighter alpha generation with James and convinced him Ryu was Akuma's son or something like that.

Thanksgiving was great but there were way too many choices to eat. I couldn't sample everything there was so much. First time I didn't keep on sampling while cooking either and I got full early. I kept on feeding my son turkey trying to make him sleepy. It didn't work.

I didn't have to go to black friday because my sister did for me. I got everything I wanted too.

Deep fried turkey is great nice and juicy just don't put it in the grease frozen.

That means he's got one hell of a metabolism. You should be a proud mommy.

Good advice. That's a great way to get your grease pot to go nuclear on you. It will, literally, explode. The horror stories are everywhere.
